About the Author

Charming Man has been writing erotica for over fifteen years. It all started quite by accident, following the tragic death of his wife in 1998, when he was left with two small children to bring up alone, as well as manage his own software consultancy.

While still in a state of shock, he settled into a daily routine of dropping the kids off at day care, fulfilling his 9 to 5 obligations, collecting the kids, feeding, bathing and putting them to bed, before collapsing in front of the television and crying into a large glass of red.

He neither had the opportunity nor desire to meet anyone new, yet he craved companionship. He began to trawl online chat rooms, striking up conversations with anonymous individuals who may or may not have been who they said they were; it made little difference to him. This led to many a cat and mouse war of words with many a like-minded soul, which both intrigued and excited him. It was during this time he wrote his first short story, Night Vision, detailing his longing for the next love to enter his life.

The more he chatted, the more he became obsessed with the notion of sexual encounters between strangers. He continued to engage women in cyberspace and together they would contrive a variety of scenarios from the respective comfort of their laptops. Many of these were later to become short stories; Beach Encounter, Mid Air Collusion, Ariana, A Greek Tragedy and The Hitcher, to name a few.

Charming Man would not deny he is always on the lookout for the next encounter to write about. When two individuals make eye contact across a room and a connection is made, this is often the green light that sets his imagination on fire. A knowing look is all it can take; a word might never be spoken. However, the minute an affinity is perceived, a scenario is hatched in his head, which is then honed over the coming days and weeks into a believable idea for a story.

There's something inordinately sexy about happening upon a total stranger and being struck, perhaps simultaneously, perhaps individually, by an attraction (or lust, if you prefer) powerful enough to warrant action.

That, in a nutshell, is the premise of FIRST ENCOUNTERS by Charming Man. Newly published, this short story collection features six scintillating works sure to interest, particularly if you're the voyeur type.

The first story in the collection, "Night Vision," recounts a dreamlike rendezvous between a young man and a ghostly woman who visits him in the night.

A "Beach Encounter" takes place when a young man happens upon a woman sunning herself in the nude and things take a turn toward the steamy.

In "Mid Air Collusion," a longer work, two strangers sitting together on a long flight exchange sexy stories, both completely true and each with the sole purpose of turning on the other.

"Ariana" is a girl at a finishing school who accidentally discovers that the headmaster is attracted to her, and uses that to her full advantage to keep herself from being punished for her obstinacy in classes.

A young man finds himself in the midst of "A Greek Tragedy" when he travels to the Greek Isles and finds himself enticed and seduced by a woman whose name he never learns.

Finally, in another longer story, "The Hitcher" turns out to be a young woman with plenty of snark in her attitude, whom a young man picks up and then can't (or perhaps doesn't want to) get rid of.

Each story is thoughtfully rendered, an amazing feat for a compilation of pure erotica, with beautifully rendered settings (especially in "A Greek Tragedy") and each character carefully drawn as an individual. Clearly, Charming Man did not feel the need (thankfully) to draw on stock characters and stereotypes to convey the steamy stories he presents.

For those of you easily shocked or just not interested in graphic sexual content, please find another work to read, as this one won't fit your needs. For those who don't mind their erotica edgy and unexpected, FIRST ENCOUNTERS will more than suffice.

If you are looking for a collection of highly erotic stories about a variety of sensual encounters between strangers -- this is your book. It will heat up the coldest winter night, and send your senses into overdrive. Charming Man has a real talent for story-telling, creating characters that immediately capture your imagination and engage you in their adventures - their emotional and sensual highs, disappointments, hopes and deepest fantasies. I read it in one sitting, and only put it down once -- to Tweet about it.

This is a collection of 6 encounters, some very short, some a few chapters long - all intelligently, sensitively written in first person POV - which makes them even more compelling. My favorite was "The Hitcher," a story that is begging for a sequel. I also enjoyed "Ariana" - a book that tackles a taboo subject in the UK, but is so well written that it, too, begs for a sequel. I've read other authors who have tackled this same subject, none of which shows the sensitivity and the true dilemma of the troubled hero in this story.

"Night Vision" has a supernatural theme and an incredibly touching back-story that I will not spoil here. "Beach Encounter" is a naughty voyeuristic tale that is pure entertainment. "Mid-Air Collusion" is also a delightful erotic encounter that gives new meaning to the mile high club - making me wonder why I always get seated next to the oldest, smelliest guy on the plane...but I digress. The story collection is complete with "A Greek Tragedy" - one of the more bizarre stories, but also highly erotic, humorous and entertaining.

I've always been a fan of the author as a person, but this is the first time I've had the pleasure of reading his books - it will most definitely NOT be the last. I look forward to his next release, "Final Encounters".

I have read all these stories before, apart from A Greek Tragedy. Having them all under one cover in paper is a nice feeling. Beach Encounter has always been my favourite and always will be, closely followed by Ariana, which I think is the hottest story by Mr. C. The young student and a man of authority is always a fantasy read and this one is a scorcher! The Hitcher is a beautiful story, very realistic with likable characters with real emotions. I loved the shyness of the male character, instead of an alpha male. Their flirting was arousing and a lot of fun! These stories are superb, fresh and fecking hot! If you haven't read anything from Charming Man..... grab this and enjoy!

An erotic collection of short stories by the one and only Charming Man. I can honestly say this is the first "smut book" written by a man that I have read, and I’m glad that Charming Man took my virginity ;-) It’s well written, funny where it should be, and extremely sexy in most parts.

I have loved Charming Man's work for a while now and having all my favourite stories in one place is a great. Just being able to sit and lose myself in his work without having to search through my kindle is an absolute treat and then you have the added bonus of A Greek Tragedy, a short and intense gem. For me though the stars in this collection are Mid Air Collusion and Ariana as these have been favourites of mine for a while, although not one story disappoints. All in all a fabulous collection of hotness that will leave you breathless and wanting more.
