Search Engine Babble: How to ensure that the search engines recognize the language of your site, and why THAT is important Kindle Edition

1.0 1.0 out of 5 stars 1 rating

Are you aware that the search engines might consider that your English website is in Chinese? Or in Croatian? This book lists a few real examples that have occurred, including the links to the places where this was reported.

And do you realize that you might never reach a decent ranking, if the search engines believe your site is in the wrong language? That the search engines will only show your page to people who might not understand your language in the first place? It has happened, because, contrary to you, search engines don't understand languages.

This book provides an an overview about the research in language identification by machines, and why it is so difficult for a machine or a search engine robot to identify the language of a web page. This paper then provides explanation about how search engines identify the language of your web page, and finishes by providing 22 recommendations to ensure that the language of your web site is properly recognized.
