1997 (90s Flashback Series Book 2) Kindle Edition
Anna Matthews is moving on. After a tumultuous year where her life took an unexpected turn, she is now looking to the future with the help of a few old friends.
Everything gets off to a great start with Anna and her high school friend Kelsey planning a new business together. And along with the emotional support of her sister Amy and acquaintances Rachel and Jackson, Anna’s life is almost back to normal.
However, a bizarre night out with Rachel leaves Anna craving the company of a certain charismatic sales assistant she met in 1996. But when she unpacks the box she thought contained the time-travelling compound that can take her back to him, it is nowhere to be found.
Will Anna be able to track down the missing jar? Or will she finally have to accept a future without someone who means so much to her?

I enjoyed this second book in the time-travel romance that kept me smiling between the present and 1997.
If given the opportunity to take this youth compound, I wouldn't blink before saying yes, just as Anna does, which makes her story super fun and memorable.
Being a 90's teen made me relish in the plot even more. Doc Martens, floral print knee-length dresses, Stone Temple Pilots, record stores, all the goodies of the 90's pop culture are here, and it made Anna's interaction with everyone relatable for me.
Nostalgia entertainment big time here. A story like no other. Full of excitement over discovering the connection you have with someone who will changed your world--and you--forever. Full of interweaving timelines that bridge the past and present in ways unimaginable.
Inventive, exploratory, and well worth the ride.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI !I've the concept I only wish there was more time with Kurt in the future. Perhaps an extended epilogue
- Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI was super stoked to get to read the second book in this set, and it was just as awesome as I had hoped. But now that it's over, I'm sad that it has ended. I really hope there will be future books in this series although the 1990's are almost over. So happy that Kelsey discovered a way to get her best friend and Kurt together when they were in different countries. I am slightly curious about what happened to Ed. Book one in this series was my first by this author. After reading these two books, I have to admit that I think I'm going to be looking forward to many more reads by this author.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2019Format: KindleThis was a nice sequel to 1996. It wrapped up loose ends and had a few surprises along the way. There is a very funny speed dating incident in the present (I figured that one out) and Anna returns to the 90s a few times. I didn’t much care for how the author used Ed; it seemed to be only an opportunity to get back to the 90s as his experience didn’t really seem to factor in the big picture. I also felt that the explanation of the serum was a throwaway, like it wasn’t that big of a deal (which it obviously was). All in all, the whole end seemed a little disjointed compared to the rest of this book (and the first one). That being said, it was still fun to follow Anna and Kurt to see how things ended, and I was satisfied with the ending itself. Thank you to the author and Hidden Gems for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLoved it. A lot of questions from book one came to answers, but I'd still like to hear more about a few people and watch a few more get what they deserve. I'm not sure you could just read this one and understand, I'm pretty sure you'd have to read both.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2019Format: KindleI have now read multiple books by this and each book gets better. I thought this book was such a quick and fun read. I love Anna, the main character. She is self-aware, independent, and funny. I love that in this book she is more self-assured and the relationship between her and Kelsy, her best friend, was probably the highlight of the story for me! They are both strong women who go after what they want and consistently had each other's back. Not to mention, their banter was hilarious.
Overall, I think this book is worth reading and I am going to check out more books from this author as well.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI've loved getting to know Anna, Kelsey and Kurt! Can't wait to continue with the next book - very hard to put down!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI really enjoyed the story. Anna is a great character and I enjoyed going back to 1997 with her, especially the music references. It's an easy, fun read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flashback series rocks!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI picked up this book as soon as I finished reading book 1 in the duet as I needed to know what happened next. And book 2 didn’t disappoint. Although it took a lot longer than I’d have liked for modern Kurt to appear it was worth the wait. And that blind date kiss! So, so good!
I really enjoyed all the flashbacks from 1997 (& 1996 in book 1) and the way the two time lines come together as the book progresses. The Flashback series rocks!

4.0 out of 5 stars Happy conclusion
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe second part to this Australian duet.
Anna takes several more trips back in time.
She is ever more drawn to Kurt and tries to engineer a meeting with him each time.
Meanwhile, she finds out more about Kurt in present day. It seems they are destined to keep missing each other.
But, friend, Kelsey has her back.
A really fun ride. I'm sure you'll love this happy conclusion to an interesting concept within the genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Time travel at its best
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseGreat book with time travel, that has a lovely story of friendship and love. You do need to read 1996 first to understand the concepts and the story.

Format: KindleVerified PurchaseReally loved this book, I enjoyed seeing what happens with Anna and Kurt (some things were very predictable.
I didn’t like how the story didn’t show Ed’s side enough
