4.4 out of 5 stars 3,475 ratings

A toxic ex.
A girl who lost herself.
A childhood friend helping her find the way back.

When Hailey finally ends her relationship with her narcissistic ex-boyfriend, she thinks all her troubles have ended. But what she doesn’t realize is that the wounds he inflicted aren’t on her skin, but in the way she sees herself. And the only person capable of helping her heal has been in her corner all her life.

Jax has had a soft spot for the younger Porter sister ever since his family moved into their neighborhood. It feels like the most natural thing in the world to go from helping her with math homework, to holding her hand through a rough breakup years later. But as he starts to show her how beautiful and worthy she already is, he himself starts to notice the incredible woman that she grew up to be.

While Hailey struggles to balance finding her strength with navigating her budding attraction to her older sister's best friend, Jax has to decide if his new feelings for Hailey are helping or hurting her journey.

Can Jax and Hailey start something new while the past is hovering over their heads? Or will Hailey’s scars hurt them both?

📚 Book: 2 Fights 📚 Series: The Fight Game (2nd book in the series) 📚 Author: Nikki Castle 📚 Narrators: Emma Wilder, J.F. Harding 📚 Format: 🎧 📚 Genre: MMA Romance 📚 POV: 1st Person Dual POV (Hailey Porter & Jax Turner) I read this incredible book back in 2022. After the huge success of the first book in the series, 5 Rounds, I couldn’t wait to dive into Hailey’s story – Remy’s little sister. 🤍 Let me start by saying this: I spent most of the book wishing Steve would just disappear from the story! (To say the least! Because I have to to refine and censor myself here) The cover might be a bit misleading; you might expect a light, steamy read with some t@boo themes. But in truth, this book is packed with depth, exploring important topics every woman should be aware of. And a little personal confession? I once dated a guy who reminded me of "Steve," and it wasn’t until reading this book that I realized I had been in a tøx¡c relationship with a nårc¡ss¡st. I feel lucky to have gotten out. The narrators did an amazing job – I fell in love with the story all over again, just like the first time. 🤍 Thank you, Nikki, for the audiøbook cøpy and for writing this important book. Even two years later, it reminds me never to settle for another "Steve." This story has taught me to love myself first and to say no when needed. I highly recommend this book! It’s a powerful read for young women, teens, and adults alike, helping us recognize green flags, red flags, and the kind of partner worth keeping in our lives. 🤍

I recently separated myself from a man almost exactly like Hailey’s Steve, and this book spoke so accurately to my experience. It spoke so accurately to things that I have desperately needed to rebuild in myself. The dialogue, and Hailey’s inner thoughts brought me to tears completely by surprise once or twice; lighting up areas in my own mind that still need healing. This is one of the most beautiful stories of healing and finding healthy love. I’m ending this book with a warm heart. May we all find our Jax!!

Well Steve is the WORST. Nikki did a great job of dealing with the trauma that someone like Steve can leave someone with and in all the ways you might not even realize. This book and the characters (except Steve) need the biggest hug! The relationship we see between Jax and Hailey is sweet, spicy, and heartbreaking in the best ways. Hailey's story is so important to hear and recognize that I really appreciated Nikki telling it.

I do wish that the relationship between Jax and Hailey as friends was explored a bit more - it didn't hit as hard as I expected it to since it felt more like a romantic relationship rather than anything else.

I am enjoying this series and plan to read them all! As my first MMA romance, I'm definitely hooked and want to know more about the characters!

I like the way the author has chosen to write a story like this, but I'm just not a fan of the style of writing. It's always this big set up trying to get the main characters to have this huge epiphany. I still love when the characters are interacting with one another and I can play it in my head like a show. The spice level is always a 5 out of 5 for me. I just don't prefer the way the narrative is told.

I love their relationship and how realistic it was for Hailey getting out of a toxic and manipulative relationship and finding refuge in her sweetest friend (and sisters friend). Their relationship is beautiful, and even though theirs a third act breakup up, IT MAKES SENSE, and gets Hailey to grow so much as she needed. Ugh I just wanna give this book a hug!

The audiobook is narrated by Emma Wilder and JF Harding and 👏🏼they 👏🏼were 👏🏼 perfect for these two characters! And it's in duet! Which makes it even better! I got to talk to Nikki about this audiobook and the amount of thought she put into the narrators and making the book a duet is truly her showing her love to what I hear is her fave book in the series and the love she has for her readers to enjoy this book as much as possible! This is definitely an audiobook I would recommend you listen to and even buy if need be!

Nikki Castle is one of those authors you love not only because they're talented af, but also because they're one of the most friendly people in the world. After reading her debut novel last year (My favorite book of 2021), I knew she was going to give me something even better on her next book... And, like the true Queen she is, she delivered!

Oh, boy, there's so much to say about 2 Fights.

The book is divided in 2 parts (Or 2 fights... You know, like the title. In the first part we see Hailey living with Steve. Nikki made an outstanding job showing (not telling) the things she had given up and the things she decided to do so she could please her boyfriend. Also, the way Nikki slowly built up the tension that culminated on her finally noticing that what she was living wasn't healthy was breathtaking! It's not easy to recognize you are living an bad relationship (I know. Been there. Done that. Bought the T-shirt), and even though we're free from the problem afterwards, the mental conditioning we're used to still had impact on how we live our everyday lives.

The second part, just like the first, is nothing less than perfection. This part had me in tears in several parts of it. Healing is one of the toughest processes someone can go through and Nikki shows us that even when you have a great support network, the whole thing can only be done by ourselves... Hailey had her sister, Jax, Tristan... Everyone around, but it had to be her. And she did. Obviously, figuring out that this is a lone road was painful (I cried.), but sometimes we have to break a bone in order to fully heal.

On another note, we have to talk about Jax. How can someone be that perfect? He loves Hailey, cares for her needs and make decisions thinking about her well-being, even when he knows he'll suffer. Nikki, please. You can't set my bar on men that high. How am I supposed to judge real men, when you gave me JAX?? Jesus...

Well, I wish I could forget everything about this book, because I wanted to read it again like it was the first time.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good emotional, spicy romance
Reviewed in Canada on October 22, 2024
I adored this story, it actually surprised me with the struggles and emotions that Hailey goes through with Steve and getting out of a toxic relationship but it was written so well. Jax was the perfect protector and "cheerleader" for Hailey, so to speak. He was just always in her corner rooting for her.

The journey yhese two took from friends to lovers was filled with laughter and a ton of emotional baggage but they made it. And their chemistry was *off the charts* Nikki writes some of the best spice out there so it's no surprise how much I enjoyed it!

Narration: Emma Wilder and JF Harding really truly brought these characters to life. There is a lot of heavy emotions portrayed throughout this book and Emma and JF both really brought the book together. The duet narration really was the cherry on top!

    ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥🔥 3,5 spice

When Hailey finely finds the courage to fight off her narcissist ex boyfriend, it’s just the first fight done.
Now comes a whole new fight of rediscovering her self and healing the wounds that are of the invisible kind. Along to help and support her is her sister Remy and longtime friend Jax.
Jax is fiercely protective of Hailey and has always been. He makes the time to hang out and show her how a woman should be respected and treated. And before they know it their sizzling chemistry makes the lines of friendship blur. But as their relationship evolves Jax has to decide if he’s newfound feelings for Hailey is hurting or helping her in the long run.

This is yet another swoony, h0t story from Nikki Castle, even though it has a lot darker more serious ground story. I think that Nikki manages to touch on this heavy and important theme without making Hailey anything but admirable and strong, and to show how it can happen to literally anybody. And she balances in the spic€ so well. It flows naturally and so believable.

    Narration review:

Just as 5 Rounds, the level of work put in to this audio is beyond words! After listening to this series my standards are impossible high. And this, book 2 in the Fight Game series, is just as beautifully delivered as the first one.

It was so impressive to listen to the way Emma expressed Hailey’s journey with all of the complex and challenging emotions and experiences she goes through. JF was absolutely perfect as Jax, it was a joy to listen to, at the same time he was making me h@te Steve even more than I did while reading the book. Safe to say ALL the emotions come out in this book.

I am a HUGE Nikki Castle fan♥️ and I love all her books. That being said this is not my favourite story, but it is so important! I feel like Hailey’s voice and the messages throughout this book needs to be out there.

❗️With that being said, if you are struggling and need some one to talk to, my DM is always open♥️ I’ll be in your corner 😉

Seriously. Where do I even begin? Hailey. Her growth and quiet strength was so well portrayed as well as the wounds that living with her A-hole ex left her with I really felt it. Subtle, and real, and really well written. No melodramatics or over writing in this book. Nope Nope.

Okay. Now. Jax. I am fanning my face as I write this. Jax...... OHHHHHH JAX. If there was ever a perfect blend of alpha and sweet guy, it's Jax. He's a gentleman in public and AN ANIMAL in bed. I want a Jax. YOU should want a Jax. WE SHOULD ALL WANT A JAX. I will say no more. Just. Yup. Where's my Jax?
