We have wealthy Wall Street wiz, Ezekiel Zeke, who meets the flamboyant, adorable, femme, Benjamin Benny, and the sparks fly. Zeke doesn't understand the attraction because he's not his usual type, but the friendship starts slow, the feelings grow, and the relationship begins. Many factors are involved, like Zeke's family, Benny's big Catholic Italian family, their work, and friends, plus exes all fit into this tale. Benny knocks down Zeke's sturdy walls, and they each find comfort in the others presence. These two men really gel in and out of bed. Terrific hot sex with these guys that you'll love, plus just enough tension to make this work beautifully. I liked the internal thought processes, deep conversations, and the never-give-up attitudes, too.
    Benny seems to have figured out how to deal with most of his issues, while Zeke still flounders here and there as he lets go of past problems, and moves forward. They are so good for each other.
    I highly recommend this absolutely delightful journey these men are on.

    This review is really for her works as a whole. I have pretty much read one after the other since I started with this one. Lane Hayes has a formula and it works for me. Two guys meet and are immensely attracted to each other but-insert the reason they really shouldn't work as a couple and they try to stay away from one another. The thing that makes this formula not get boring is that LH is a good writer and she really knows how to bring the reader in and make you a part of the action. She also writes likable and relatable characters. Steamy love scenes and great intense and believable romantic connections make all of her books a consistent 4 star read for me.

    I really enjoyed the characters of Zeke and Ben. Zeke is the hard bitten urbanite of NYC. He is successful on Wall Street earning the corner office of his firm and the lifestyle that goes with it. Who would have guessed he would fall for the younger flamboyant Benny?

    The "we're just playing boyfriends" situation was really having to suspend disbelief. However, it did lend to the final ending.

    It is fantasy where outwardly opposites attract but both characters are inwardly similar. It really is Zeke's journey of releasing the anger of past history in his life and start anew. This catalyst comes alive with the introduction of Benny into his life.

    I have to admit there are a few zingers that literally caused me to laugh out loud. That rarely happens so the dialogue is witty at times.

    I bought the novel around 6:00 pm and finished about 1:45 am-- the entire novel in one evening. I rarely do that too.

    I recommend this work for readers who can suspend disbelief and are enticed by a strong plot and well developed characters.

    A true love story. Benny gives you feelings right from the start and Zeke worms his way into your heart. As the author mentioned this is a romantic story, can I cannot agree more. Benny and Zeke seem so different from each other, but are a perfect match. Both families add so much to the story and Zeke’s dad George will make you realize people can change and do everything in their power to make a difference. I have loved all of this author’s work, this one holds a special place as a story you fall into and love, and when you reach the end have a smile on your face. A must read and cannot wait for the next book.

    Lane Hayes is clearly a talented writer, better than so many who attempt m/m. She wrote the trope of the masculine alpha gay falling for the girly man with a freshness that made me happy to read this kind of story again. There were some disappointing flaws.
    * the hemming and hawing on the part of one MC wasn't consistent. On one page, he has reached stage 2 of the relationship. A few pages later, he was back to stage 1.
    * overused words and phrases all writers should avoid include:
    "deepen the kiss”
    "ache," especially “ache with need”
    “dueling tongues” – because gross
    "pistoning," especially “pistoning hips”
    There is nothing sexy or compelling about these tired expressions.
    * The author created some dramatic action that I believe tops the list of romance plot clichés. I almost stopped reading, even though I was just shy of 90% done.
    Truly, these mistakes were not worthy of the overall writing skill of this author.

    This is the first Lane Hayes book I have read, and let me tell you, it may be full of the typical romance cliches, it really touches the heart. I liked the characters, and the romance, but it was the underlying story of Zeke's mother that really struck a chord with me. In a genre full of generalities and same-old, same-old storytelling, this book has the touch of truth. I will be buying more of this series, and I will be rereading this one again!

    Okay. I think I found this predictable and frustrating. I'm not sure if it was the style or the characters or the situations. But the whole thing was just a bit meh. The redeeming quality of the book and Lane Hayes' writing is it's so damn quotable.
    And the portrayal of Miri. As a strong female character, she is wonderful and her illness is not often shown in this genre.

    This is my opinion. I can totally see how people would enjoy this but not for me.
