Dale Parnell was born and raised in Norwich, and moved to Staffordshire in 1999. He has been writing for almost thirty years, but it wasn’t until 2017 that he self-published his first collection, “The Green Cathedral”, a selection of seven contemporary fantasy short stories.
This was followed by a second collection in 2019, “Bramble and other stories”, this time branching out to include horror and science-fiction as well as fantasy.
Dale’s first foray into poetry came in 2018, when he was fortunate enough to have three pieces accepted for the anthology “Further Within Darkness & Light” from Nothing Books. Since then, Dale has featured in over forty fiction and poetry anthologies from some of the best independent publishers around the world.
In 2022, Dale released his third collection, “Foundations”, featuring a variety of short stories that have been featured in previously published anthologies, along with a brand new, exclusive tale.
In 2023, Dale's first full length science-fiction novel, PYR, was released.
Dale lives in Staffordshire with his wife and their imaginary dog, Moriarty. He is currently working on a follow-up to PYR, and his strangest wish is to find a copy of one his books for sale in a second-hand bookshop.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2021I have to begin with I am not usually a fan of short story horror anthologies. They really have to jump out and grab me really quick. Well, kudos to Dawn Shea half of D&T Publishing LLC you busted your bottom, and you hooked me with this read! I even plan to read the previous two installments of ABC’s of Terror. I have to say Dawn put together a stellar line up of authors for this twenty-six story anthology! Here is the line up.
Victor J. Beowulf

Tara Loscano
Matthew Clarke
Chris Bonner
Gary McDonough
Chuck Knight
Dawn DeBraal

Chris Miller (1/3 Cerberus- yes, the whole gang is here)
John Cady
David Green
As someone is bound to notice, no I can count, one author does have two stories. Which are both fantastic! Throughout this entire anthology you will be entertained by cursed/haunted objects, or things left behind. I was originally going to pick a top five from the anthology, but I didn’t have a single complaint. That is saying a lot from someone who doesn’t really care for short story anthologies, but Dawn only has quality stories in here. I promise you it is a fun ride! Not to mention, some authors are seasoned, some are new, and some simply new to me. Also, it is absolutely necessary to mention that Cerberus as a whole is here! Those who are unaware that would be Patrick C. Harrison III (PC3), M. Ennenbach, and Chris Miller. They have a three novella book titled Cerberus Rising, and I was sold after reading this. I have read a bit from some of these authors, and they are very talented and need to be checked out if you have not yet. All three have entries in DHP’s Splatter Western Series as well!
Now, I know I mentioned those three in particular, but I could praise each and every author for their work contributed to ABC’s of Terror Vol. III. However, that would take a while, and I have rambled enough. The theme of all the stories as stated center around cursed or haunted objects. These tales are fun, somewhat creepy, and very creative. I will say the letter V was pretty bloody, caught me off guard a little, and brilliant.
All in all, I absolutely have to give ABC’s of Terror Vol. III five brooches out of five lockets! I enjoyed every story, and I do not have a criticism. I think that sums it up. I do not want to give away any spoilers. Until next time, my friends.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2021D&T Publishing has released their third volume of alphabetic fun, ABC’s of Terror is another gleeful glide through gruesome gore as you make your way through those beloved literary letters, the ABC’s. 26 tales sure to tantalize your terror taste buds. Naturally, I cannot give you the specifics of all 26 short gorie’s, um, stories, but I have selected a few favorites, amongst the many outstanding offerings of this volume’s voices.
In no particular order, M. Ennenbach terrifies readers in his tale of a terrible typewriter in “T is for Typewriter”. A poor soul is given a box of goods from an estate sale and discovers a mint condition typewriter amongst the knick-knacks and calls his old friend, excited about his haul. A struggling writer, he is now thrilled to have a tool of the trade on his lonely table. His joy is short-lived, however, as his friend soon finds out. “T is for Typewriter” is a must read.
“P is for Potato” is another one that made me gruesomely giggle in sordid shame. Patrick C. Harrison, III or PC3 as we love to call him, pens a tale of delicious disgust as a medical assistant has had enough of a patient's disturbing bodily functions. I was appalled and enthralled as this story grew roots in my mind. Another well-penned, gruesome gorey, ahem, story.
Another fun tale by Victor J. Beowulf, kicked off the collection with “A is for Aqua-Net”, with a title like that, how could I not love it? Big hair, big rock, big 80’s vibes, nothing like nostalgia to get the brain going except this tale was not what I expected. Poor Fernando is just a lonely guy with oddly specific things to live for, writing horror, and serial killer items. When a can of Aqua-Net arrives at his doorstep, he is overjoyed and inspired to use it that very night. It belonged to a former rock legend, Andy Asp, who was arrested for the murder of quite a few groupies, amongst other crimes. Fernando could not have guessed the ending to this story, had he written it himself.

4.0 out of 5 stars The fun continues
Having read the first two books in the series I was expecting a fun range of stories with interesting titles and concepts. Once again I wasn't disappointed. As with any anthology some stories landed better with me than others, this is still well worth the read.
