A Borrowed Boyfriend: A Fake Relationship, Jilted Bride Romantic Comedy (Fairy Godmother Agency Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,964 ratings

On a scale from one to ten, how bad is it that I want to kiss my fake boyfriend?

Marnie

What’s worse than being left at the altar? Becoming a meme because one of your nearest and dearest took a video of you running—and falling—down the aisle and made it internet famous.

Yup, I’m
that Marnie Jones. My sister is for-real famous, which only makes people more interested in my predicament. Is it any wonder I’m feeling down?

My best friends will try anything to cheer me up…including setting me up with the Fairy Godmother Agency, a maybe-crazy husband and wife private investigator-slash-life coach team who promise to find the person who sold me out. Better yet, they lend me a fake boyfriend to make my ex jealous and appease my sister.

Griffin is gorgeous, attentive, and a
very convincing actor. He’s perfect for the job.

Too perfect.

***

Griffin

After a lifetime of practice, I’m good at pretending. But the more time I spend with Marnie Jones, the less I have to feign my interest in her.

She may be down, but she’s not out. She’s beautiful, funny, and just the right amount of weird. All she needs is someone to remind her of that.

If I weren’t such a screw up, I’d have half a mind to do it myself.

Great Start to New Series!

Great Start to New Series!
I am SO excited about this new series! Nicole and Damien are "fairy godmothers" who take it upon themselves to help out women who have been wronged and need to turn their lives around. The only stipulation is that the women "pay it forward" and nominate someone else who needs their help. A quote from the book is the best description of Nicole's role: "She might not be a pleasantly round woman with a magic wand - or at least not the kind of magic wand they'd feature in a kid's movie - but she is a pretty damn good fairy godmother." I was also really happy to see Gary, Nicole's mother, and Griffin again. I love the family dynamics between them. I really enjoyed reading about Marnie's growth and becoming more sure of herself and look forward to her being around as her "new" self in the next installment. Marnie and Griffin's relationship was very sexy and I loved Griffin's model for learning to please your woman (seriously, why isn't this something that's being advertised more???). I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a cute laid back kind of read. Each character could present themselves as one thing or another and that what makes this beginning of this series a good start. Its family and friends being there for each other in special ways. They were funny, protective and sexually uninhibited. Try it for yourself. Its comedic value won't disappoint.

This book moved fast. Twists and turns that you have to keep up with! Not all areas are happy and you deal with a lot of family angst. Making decisions for others without them knowing is not always a good plan. Alls well that the truth brings out. Sex is hot but not much.

I would generously give it 5 stars if there was no extra kink in a love scene and if there is no foul word (a challenge for many authors nowadays in order to sell their books). I believe the author is creative enough to make this happen in future books, I hope. Although the culprit was easy for me to figure out, how the author wove the mystery with an enchanting dose of humor was enough to make me laugh out loud often that it made my hubby peel off his eyes from his cel (to which he is addicted to) out of curiosity (“How is borrowing a boyfriend funny?”). Who doesn’t love it when someone gets what they deserve, whether it’s the protagonist or the villain? That part kept me certainly hooked.

If I ever gave five stars (nobody's perfect), this would be a five.

5.0 out of 5 stars A really fun read
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 21, 2022
Oh the gods…… this was a truly fabulous read.

Griffin and Marnie make an awesome couple….. even if they’re not actually together initially.

What starts out as a fake relationship to help Marnie out becomes so much more as the pair spend time together, get to know each other, discover that they get on and really like the other.

Griffin was so good for Marnie. He gave her the confidence to get over here very public humiliation while being there to support and comfort her when needed. Marnie brought out a protective side of Griffin and made him want more with her.

I loved seeing them develop into more and realise just what they meant to each other.

Who’d have thought this pair would make such good Fairy Godmothers but Nicole and Damien, what can I say, for all their craziness they truly know who works together and manage to finangle things just so that the right people get their deserved happy ever after!!!

This was a really fun read with lots of laughs, sweetness and heat!

I’m definitely looking forward to more in the series!
