A Dangerous Deal (Ladies of Worth series Book 2) Kindle Edition
Lady Rachel Denby is in need of a husband and a chance encounter with the reserved Lord Arleigh inspires her to offer him an outlandish deal.
He will save her from impending financial doom and she will help him gain his inheritance. All they have to do is marry. It sounds delightfully pragmatic. Yet as they embark upon their matrimonial bliss, they find that being husband and wife is anything but simple.
Pleasing the stiff family relations, keeping a nosy sister in check, and dealing with unhelpful solicitors complicates their deal. To make matters worse, there are unplanned feelings growing between them. But the unorthodox Rachel can’t help engaging the aloof Viscount, and his Lordship is certainly not the cold fish he at first appears.
Suddenly, the deal they made is far more than just a practical solution to their problems, it’s fast becoming downright dangerous!
This is the second book in The Ladies of Worth series of Georgian romances. It centres on the sister of Lady Rebecca Fairing from Fool Me Twice, and you’ll get to see Caro and Felton again, and let’s not forget the shrewd Lady Etheridge and her wicked wit!
Reviews
‘a beautiful novel set in 18th century in England [..] The plot is unique and intriguing [..] I love strong, vocal, and intelligent women, and Rachel displayed these qualities, making her the perfect main character/protagonist.‘ – Reader’s Favourite, 5 stars
'‘In the words of Arleigh, “A Dangerous Deal” lets the reader “leave the rest of the world to itself for a while” as one is hooked up in the drama, humor, suspense and craziness of the lead characters. The backdrop of well-drawn 1776s’ cultural events gives a unique spark to the thread of romance that completes the package like a perfect rainbow.’ – InD-Tale Magazine, 4 stars

- Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2023I really enjoyed listening to this book while I worked. It has a continuous pace that kept me interested. Clean, with a great story line.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2024Four and a half stars for a well written story that revolves around a marriage of convenience that soon becomes more.
The struggle between the hero and heroine along with their own demons from their past experiences add a dimension to the story.
This is a stand alone book within a series but I enjoy the continuity from the previous book with characters that have a separate life that was “started” in book one.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2024I loved how quickly this story came to life with the drama and emotions flowing out. Wished there was another chapter. Ended too quickly

The widowed Lady Rachel Denby marries Lord Arleigh secretly. Her sister, Lady Rebecca is caught off guard by the sudden marriage and is desperate to discover why they married. At times, I was bothered with Lady Rebecca(featured in Fool Me Twice) obsession with her sister’s marriage.
Enjoyed revisiting the characters from Fool Me Twice. Look forward to this author next novel.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2021Thank you to Zooloo’s Book Tours and Phillipa Jane Keyworth for having me on this tour for A Dangerous Deal. I really enjoy the Regency Romance genre so I was excited to read this. This is the second book of the Ladies of Worth series and it can be read as a standalone, although I did feel like my experience would have been even better if I had read the first one prior to this tour.
I love when we have a strong heroine to center around in this setting and Rachel did not disappoint. She’s strong, tall, brash, and has a penchant for men’s clothing; basically the opposite of the wilting lilies that we usually think of in this era. I did not feel the heat between her and Arleigh at all, though. This is one of the scenarios where I wonder if I missed a good amount of the backstory in the first novel. Though this novel centers itself on Rachel and Arleigh, it also continued the dive into the lives of Caro and Felton (of whom I believe the first novel is based on) and sets up for what I’m assuming will be Rebecca’s story next. I quite like when novels do this type of cohesive building, though I think we could have had a tad less focus on the other parties so that we had more time to experience Rachel and Arleigh falling in love. At times, I also felt like we were just told things that happened instead of really being shown them.
Rachel is one of those characters that was impossible to dislike and her light shone on everyone that she came into contact with. Though I didn’t always feel the heat between them, she brought out a soft side of Arleigh that previously seemed impenetrable. The romance is very chaste and closed door for anyone that enjoys romance but is shy of its steamy side.
A huge thank you again to Zooloo’s Book Tours and the author!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2021Philippa Jane Keyworth’s newest novel, A Dangerous Deal, offers readers a romance for the ages. A book full of strong female characters and the men who love them. This volume is the second in the Ladies of Worth series.
I did have a bit of a hard time with this novel. This book is the second in a series, and I could tell it. There is so much backstory in the first book and another book that is not part of the series. Reading these novels would make this volume a bit clearer. I wouldn’t suggest it as a standalone book. I might feel differently about Rebecca had I read her story. Caro’s story seems wonderful. But this book left me wondering about too many things, which drew me out of the story many times.
I award A Dangerous Deal 4 out of 5 stars. The story is spectacular and pulls you in right away. Even with my complaints, the emotional pull of Rachel and Arleigh made reading well worth my time. I encourage everyone to give this book a try, with the warning that you may wish to read the other two novels first.
A copy of this book was given to me with a request for an honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars An outrageous lady, an unlikely suitor and a scandal!
What an awesome read. This book is well put together. Excellent storyline and great characters. The fabulously independent Lady Rachel leaves you with moments of pure comedy in the unconventional ways she introduces herself to her mother in law. The writer effortlessly leaves the reader wondering if the ending will ever work out in the way you hope. I had to keep turning the pages to know if love would triumph. I also enjoyed seeing the return of some much loved characters from Fool Me Twice. Definitely recommend the Lady of worth series and anything this author has written. I look forward to her next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dangerously Good!
Finished in one day! I’ve read the authors previous books as well and I think this is my favourite of them all, love how her writing style has developed too. A must read Bridgerton fans!

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolute Rubbish.
This book was so badly written I failed to finish it. The characters were cardboard stereotypes and utterly unbelievable. Is it too much to ask that anyone has the slightest bit of common sense? Some of the sentences were so badly structured i began to wonder whether English was the author's native language.
