Accidental Exposure: Where is Andy? Kindle Edition
A gripping thriller about losing family, fighting injury, and murder.
There were three of them in the car before the accident; now there are two.
Where is Andy? Why do the police, the paramedics, and the firefighters ignore his mother, Annette, as she begs them to disregard the thin trickles of blood running from her scalp. No one is listening as she pleads with them all to please, PLEASE, find her son. Brian, Andy's father, is unconscious in the destroyed car, but Andy is still out there somewhere. Andy must be nearby. He must be washed with the red and blue flashing emergency lights and accosted by the shriek of sirens. The smell of petrol is getting stronger, and Annette can see the panic on everyone's face.
Soon there will be fire.
WHERE IS ANDY?
This novel includes two versions of the same gripping story. Choose to follow Andy's mother as she fights for her son's survival, or follow his father as he's dragged deeper into Sydney's underworld.
You are invited to travel back and forth from one parent's perspective to the other, or read through the entire epic novel for the whole picture.
When they find where Andy sleeps in the darkest hours of the night, how far will they go to get him back?
An AUSTRALIAN suspense thriller with a kidnapped child and the mother who must become a vigilante to rescue her son.
★★★★★ "This one leaps off the page and grabs your attention like a vise. Intriguing with more twists than a mountain road. It is not for the squeamish, the fights and accompanying injuries are quite convincing in detail. I was at first confused with how slowly my progression seemed until I finally understood the authors remarks- there are actually two versions of the novel included. As far as I am concerned, this is a "don't miss" book."
★★★★★ "Great book! Two books in one, the same story told twice with the husband and wife changing roles and personalities."
★★★★★ "Fantastic read. I lost sleep not wanting to put it down!"
★★★★★ "You'll be captivated from the start."
★★★★★ "I couldn’t put this book down. I wanted to read both versions. It was just that good! I recommend reading it!"

About the Author. Daniel Norrish.
Hi, I'm Dan, and I write Australian kidnap thrillers.

About the author

When Dan's not tapping away on a computer keyboard, he brews black beer and watches rugby. He has a degree in "Professional Writing and Publishing," as well as Honours in creative writing from Curtin University in Western Australia.
His goal is to produce suspenseful, intriguing crime fiction that propels the reader through engaging landscapes with constant action and unforeseeable surprises. Stephanie Saxon, the protagonist of "The Bodies We Won't Bury," is crafted to be foolish and, at times, irritating. Readers might find themselves hating the violent detective as she makes the wrong decisions over and over again, leading to the horrible murders of undeserving innocents. Sometimes, a detective is given more power than they deserve. Saxon is based on an age bracket, so readers might recognise the impulsivity and harsh demeanour of an angry young adult. An angry young adult with a police badge, taser and a secret, unlicensed revolver.
Kidnapping interests Dan more than murder and other crimes, primarily because kidnapping can build more suspense. Are they dead? Are they being held prisoner? In "The Imposter," thirteen kidnap victims tell the story of their experiences with a masked vigilante. The reader is presented with the perspectives of the captives, most of whom are murdered before they can share their knowledge with anyone other than the reader.
Dan is a disability support worker, and he plans to write a kidnap novel involving a young person with a disability. With his experiences from the field and memories of all the awesome personalities he has worked with, he plans to pump the novel with as much laughter and joy as misery and terror.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book is really a twofer as it offers two distinctly different versions of the same story. They are different enough that you can read them both with great enjoyment. The first tells the story from Anette’s perspective and is in second person. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a novel done in second person. While that took a minute to adjust to, the story was so gripping and the writing so natural, that before long I’d read the whole thing and was eager to see the next telling. That was from Brian’s perspective and in third person. I found it even easier to sink into and loved that his experience after the crash was so drastically different than his wife’s. What he goes through was extraordinary and heartbreaking in places.
The story is as the blurb and title suggest about finding a missing son and is full of surprises and twists that make it much more than that. I recommend this awesome set of stories and recommend you read both versions.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAn interesting format that I can't recall having seen before. The book consists of two different versions of a similar storyline, with one version written in second person (highly unusual in fiction) and the other version in a more traditional third-person narrative. But this isn't the only difference between the two versions (mild spoiler alert here): Startlingly, there's a switch of protagonists as well, with one point of view being that of the wife and the other that of the husband.
Whichever version one prefers, the story is suspenseful from start to finish. And the reader can choose which version to read first, then go on to the other; and navigate back and forth for comparison. It's like getting two books for the price of one. The author obviously put a lot of thought and work into this novel. A nice long read for fans of the genre.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is a suspenseful read told by a talented storyteller. This is the second book I have read by this author. His storytelling style is unique. This book offers two stories in one novel. When I started and was given the choice to read the first or second version, I chose the fist. My thinking was that it was going to be the same story told in a different way. I was half correct. The first story is told from the second person point of view. I have never read a story written from this point of view. It took a little time to adjust and then the story just flowed. The second story is told from the third person point of view. I was pleasantly surprised that the two stories were not exactly the same. I prefer not to engage in any spoilers, so I won't reveal the differences other than the point of view. The story is written in a way that kept me reading because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I kept wondering if things could get any worse and how this story was going to end. This is definitely two stories suspense readers will enjoy.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI would like to give a higher rating because the story was compelling. However, the grammar was atrocious, and there were a number of obvious gender changes. I also couldn't relate to Annette--how can a mother be so cold-hearted? Was glad it at least had a happy ending for Brian and Andy.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAn unusual setup, where we have what is basically the same story being told from two different points of view. I decided to go with the second one, as I have no interest in reading two versions of a 300-page story.
Accidental Exposure has some interesting twists and turns but I felt the book would benefit from another round of editing to tighten up the story to boost suspense and pace. This is a personal preference as the reviews show many readers enjoyed reading both versions of the book as it is.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAuthor is intelligent and organized. This book kept me intrigued until the end. I'm usually good at figuring out the story by the middle of most books. But the author had me derailed this time . I enjoyed all the twists and surprises.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe same story told in two different ways. It is an interesting way to present an idea. As I read the second story I found myself comparing, and even looking back at the first book, to find the differences. Aside from the two story gimmick, the storyline was engaging and flowed. It kept me coming back for more and wanted to find out what happens.
The book suffers from the need for editing that many self-published books require. Incorrect words, punctuation, phrases repeated. Nothing major that got in the way of the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved the first rendition in the second person narration.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA very interesting read which sucks you into the family life of Annette, Brian and their son Andy. Their lives change for ever after a road traffic incident and secrets and lies are revealed through knock on events.
The story is told in two different ways, although Norrish does not expect you to read both. The first method is written second person narration and is focused on Annette’s story. The second reading is in third person and the initial position on Brian and Annette are swapped round.
A very interesting concept to presenting a story, but I couldn’t be bothered to read the second story all the way through, but I did enjoy the actual tale the first time, even if I did think the changes in Annette’s character were a little unrealistic, I would recommend this book to thriller lovers.

4.0 out of 5 stars The tale is emotionally gripping
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe story begins with a bang when an accident happens. The scene has been described so well that the reader can easily visualise it while feeling the terror that strikes Brian and Annette. By the end of the second chapter, I was dying of curiosity to find out what had happened to their son Andy.
The family of three is broken, not just physically, but their relationship gets fractured as well due to the accident. What follows is a lot of adjustment on the father’s, Brian’s part. He’s been extensively injured and is recuperating while he takes care of their ten-year-old son, Andy, who’s become blind.
Annette, who has escaped with a few superficial cuts, seems to have changed the most. Unable to cope with two injured males in her household, the lady changes overnight.
The tale is emotionally gripping and worth a read. What I would have liked more was a round of editing and many rounds of proofing to make this story a great read.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun read well worth the chance you give it in the end
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhat a content packed bible this is, and for good reason given you get to pick your main character. To be honest I lacked investment until the 90% mark when things go full yandere. (It's a japanese relationship archetype) The writing is top notch and would be well suited to a videogame adaptation where it could be best condensed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Strangely good.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis story (maybe stories) is certainly different from the usual crime thrillers I've read. It takes you on two journeys, both rather odd. And yet, it is full of action and twists and turns and nothing was straightforward or predictive.
The characters were intriguing, the plot, interesting, although I found some of the 'facts' strange and unbelievable; but it was entertaining.
The writing style was different, too, and I've rarely seen the 'you' style, however, it was effective for the subject matter.
Suspenseful and different and worth a look.
