From the Inside Flap

"Another drink?" Owen asked.

"Sure. But let me pay."

She took her purse and went into the bar, and he watched her walk away, elegant and sophisticated in her high-heeled sandals and trousers.

Mozart sat up and whimpered, forlorn that she'd gone, and Owen leaned forward and scratched his head. "I know how you feel, boy."

He couldn't quite understand what he was feeling. All he knew was that when he'd seen her standing at the stall at the Farmers' Market, his heart had filled with such inexplicable joy that he wouldn't have turned and walked away for a million dollars.

She came back with the drinks, and they sat and talked for a while, drawing out the evening as long as they could. She spoke of her time in Europe and listed her favorite places, and he talked about classical music and they bickered amicably about which composer was best.

Eventually, though, he couldn't drag it out any longer, and they both arose and walked slowly along the bank, Mozart sniffing the early evening smells.

Skye paused at the exit of the car park, and he had the horrible feeling she was going to tell him she'd walk back to town on her own. "Do you live in Kerikeri?" she asked.

He gestured across the inlet. "Over the bridge and up the hill." He turned back to her, wanting to keep her a little longer, but knowing he had to let her go. "Skye... Can I see you again? I know you're not here for long, but please say yes." Should he get down on his knees, or would that look too desperate?

She moistened her lips with the tip of her tongue. "I don't think that would be a good idea."

His guts twisted. He couldn't lose her, not now. "Skye..."

"I'm damaged goods, Owen. You don't want to get involved with me."

Unfamiliar anger seared through him at her description of herself, but he kept it in. "Why don't you let me be the judge of that? I don't see how--"

She moved closer to him and pressed two fingers to his lips, the same way he had done when asking her to dinner. "If you ask me back to your place now, though, I won't say no."

His heart shuddered to a halt. She wanted to go home with him?

But he knew what she was playing at. She thought this way she'd satisfy her physical longing and cast him off, leaving him to be tortured forever more by the memory of their night together. "I want more than that," he said when she removed her fingers. He couldn't believe he wasn't grabbing her hair and dragging her home behind him like a caveman.

"There is no more," she said simply. "I don't want things to get complicated. There's only tonight. Take it or leave it."

He met her gaze. If he argued with her now, she'd walk off and leave him--he knew it instinctively. But if he took her back to his place, maybe he'd be able to convince her to see him again.

And besides, he really, really wanted to get her into bed.

He shrugged. "I'll take it."

He slipped a hand to the nape of her neck, lowered his head, and kissed her.

I first have to admit I started reading the first book because it was free....but I ended up purchasing the rest of the series within days as I couldn't put any of the books down...each one was as good as the first. Love this author and can't wait to read more of her books. Wish I could have met Owen personally...Lol!

This fifth episode veers a bit. Although all of the books have lots of sex, this book takes a bit further, with more intensity and eroticism. The basic story is a bit more intense also. This is Skye's story. She has been in Europe throughout the first books, but is now back in NZ for a few months. All I will say about the story is that I absolutely fell in love with Owen!

I enjoyed all the books I have read in this series and this title is no exception. I loved Owen, perhaps my favorite of all the characters in Serenity Woods novels. This is not just a romance with the usual conflicts, but a story with some real substance. People dealing with loss and guilt, plus the drama of a search and rescue team trying to find a lost child. It is not all heavy though, some great humor thrown in, too. One of the things I enjoy most about series books is seeing what happens to people after the end of "their story". Characters from the earlier books in the Treats series are also featured in this book, but it can still be read as a stand alone. One thing that surprised me when I started the book was that the meet cute chapter included as a sneak preview of this book at the end of the previous book in the series, at least the Kindle version, was not included as the first chapter in A Festive Treat. One of the reasons I purchased the book was I already liked Owen and the obvious attraction between the two characters in that preview and I wanted to see how things progressed. I think it would have made a great first chapter..

A Festive Treat by Serenity Woods (Book 5 in the Treats to Tempt You series), tells the story of Maisy and Kole's sister, Skye, and sexy Kiwi search and rescue stud, Owen. Skye has been avoiding commitment even to spending time with her family ever since brother, Harry, was killed. She has come home to attend Tasha and Kole's Christmas wedding, and is scheduled to return to Europe in February. Owen had seen her in the airport and had been searching for her. Neither is looking for more than a fling until they get involved. The story is tender and poignant as well as hot. I loved the updates on familiar characters from other stories in the series, and I loved Skye and Owen together. Highly recommend.

4.5 stars, this is a contemporary romance novel that takes place in New Zealand. I've had the pleasure of reading a couple of the books in this series as well as others by Ms Woods. The descriptions of the characters & locations are what helps bring this story to life. In her books we enter the characters lives but their everyday issues, problems and joys make Ms Woods books come to life. Skye lost her brother several years ago and can't shake off the grief & loss. Even her art isn't as fulfilling as it once was. Owen has also suffered extreme loss in life but found his calling working for Search and Rescue with his trained dog. When they meet they feel a connection and the others sadness. They run into issues that could make or break them. I like the intense feelings that the author incorporates in her characters. I received a free copy of this book (in the set 'Christmas Down Under' - excellent set) from the author solely for an honest opinion. I look forward to reading more books in the future by this author.

I enjoyed the setting of the books in this series! The suspense of the lovers staying together, or breaking apart, was very real to me. The agony of their decisions, and then, the ultimate result of true love put a smile on my face every time! Good author!

As soon as he was her at the air port he knew she was different that the other women he knew. It took a while to track her down. He knew she was planning on going back to Europe. But maybe he can convince her to stay.
A very hot love story about a girl running from her last and a man that wants to be her future

Skye and Owen make a great couple. It just takes Skye longer to realize that Owen is the one for her. Mozart is your typical Labrador. I have enjoyed this series. Makes you really want to visit New Zealand.

    Another great book by Serenity.
I have read all of the recent books but somehow missed this series. They can all be read as standalone books. Personally I like to read them in order and get to know all the characters as they appear in all the books, it also means you get a little more of their story after their book has ended.
I loved Owen and Skye. Both had lost people they loved. Skye had only come back for a short stay and her brother’s wedding. Owen hadn’t been seeking a relationship. They met at the airport and the story builds from there. I won’t give the plot away, just to say I didn’t want to put the book down. It had all the emotions, a great storyline, no unnecessary angst and the sweetest HEA.
Can’t wait to read the next book, thank you Serenity ❤️

Okay. So I have loved every book in the Treats to Tempt You series and each love story has been very special, but I just found Owen and Skye’s story very moving. For some reason the dog’s name has slipped my mind but he is the third main character in the book. He’s so intelligent, brave and loving. Just a wonderful story all round

These books are well written and are set in New Zealand, which makes a pleasant change. Any of these books can be read out of sequence, but are better read in the order written as it makes it easier to get the relationships in order! I like them as, if they need to be put down it is easy to do. I would recommend them.

Another great book Skye and Owen are good together. Sad to see this series come to an end, well worth reading. This book has it all Sex, romance, funny in places. The next series due to come out Between the Sheets the characters will make frequent appearances so will be good to catch up with them. The best part of Serenity's books they can be read as stand alone and that means a lot no cliff hangers.
