A Good Girl Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 476 ratings

The morning after the night before, eighteen-year-old Charlie has a wicked hangover and no memory of the party. Or why there is not one, but two hot guys in bed with her. Deciding she's done her last walk of shame, college is exactly the fresh start Charlie needs. Reinventing herself as Charlotte – the good girl, she vows no more wild parties, no more one night stands, and absolutely no more bad boys.

Everything is going perfectly. That is, until she catches the eye of the lead guitarist of hottest band on campus, Dominic Hudson. With his bad boy good looks and magnetic charm he is everything Charlotte's trying hard to resist, but he's not about to take no for an answer. Instead, Dominic sets out to prove that some guys are worth the risk. But Charlie knows all about guys like Dominic, hell, she used to chew them up and spit them out, and giving into their undeniable attraction means revealing her past. A past that she's sure will send him running.

With Dominic refusing to let her walk away, Charlie fights hard not to give into temptation, unwilling to risk losing not only her new reputation, but her heart.

Being the good girl isn't always easy.

And here I thought this was going to be your typical book...boy was I wrong. This book is about hard lesson, regrets, being afraid of happiness and overcoming every obstacle in your way. I love these characters and love that I was so wrapped up in the book. I actually bought the second book before I was halfway done with this book. I highly recommend this series!

A very good debut novel! I do think that Siegel is going to have a follow up to this book. Had I known that I would have waited until the entire series was out before digging into this book. This is a slight cliffhanger and some unanswered questions that I know I would like to know the ending to. I will be reading any follow up books.

You can read the blurb and find out what the book is about. What I will tell you is this is a good read. I did find it hard to put it down. I would have read it in a day if life hadn't gotten in the way.

Charlie/Charlotte is a very insecure with her past and Dominic has his work cut out for himself to get through to Charlotte. Of course Dominic is the guy we all wish we would have meet at least one time in our lives.

Storyline, good. Writing, good. Sex scenes, a bit tame for me. Would I recommend this book to a friend, absolutely!!

Okay, so I feel like this book had the potential to be great. The premise was intriguing and one that hasn't been overdone already. Also the author's writing style was fairly easy on the reader. There weren't too many grammatical errors, and I don't recall being hindered by sentence structure or anything like that. Unfortunately, some of the issues that I had were with the main characters and certain major plot points and continuity issues, which detracted from the story overall for me.

    ***CAUTION - SPOILERS AHEAD***

One of the first things I noticed that threw me off was a continuity issue. Charlotte becomes friends with her roommate, Iris, and says that over the next few weeks they spend their time together. But then a few paragraphs later she says they've been on campus for 1 week...? I noticed things like this several times, and I had to go back and check to make sure I had read it correctly. Another similar discontinuity I saw in a few places was that either Charlotte or Dominic would reveal his/her feelings to the other, and then a while later the same character would say pretty much the same thing again and the other character would act surprised as if they hadn't heard it before.

Another major point for me was Charlotte's reasoning for not telling anyone about her past. It didn't seem believable to me, especially with regard to Dominic. I can kind of understand that she hadn't had any girlfriends before and that she saw Iris as innocent and didn't want her to have a bad opinion of her. But with Dominic, I feel like he was so similar to her, it just didn't make any sense for her to believe he would hold it against her. The reasoning given just wasn't strong enough for me to be able to get inside her head and share her fear. On a similar note, Charlotte holds Dominic's past with women against him, which doesn't make sense given that she has the same past with men. On further thought, maybe she was projecting her double standards onto him and that's why she was afraid he would judge her - because she was judging him...?

The third thing that gave me pause was the pushy behavior displayed by Dominic and Iris at various points throughout the book, as well as Charlotte's lack of a backbone. An example is when Dominic wants Charlotte to come to his band's gig, but she says no. So he tells Iris about the gig, and Iris guilt trips Charlotte into going. Then they get to the gig and he wants Charlotte to go to a party afterward, and when she says no again, he smirks and tells her he'll just tell Iris. To me, this feels manipulative, and I don't find it attractive. But what floored me even more and made me want to yell at Charlotte is the fact that she just kept giving in without a fight and without calling him on his behavior. I'm the kind of person who would not be happy if someone refused to accept my "no" and manipulated me into doing something. So I'm not sure if I was angrier at Dominic for appealing to Iris for help, at Iris for guilt tripping Charlotte into going to the gig and then the party, or at Charlotte for being such a pushover and knowingly allowing them both to overrule her decision.

Along the same lines, the last straw for me was at the end of the book, when the characters should have made some kind of progress, Dominic tries to make Charlotte jealous by allowing various girls to hang all over him. Obviously, this behavior irked me, but I would have been okay if it had been used as a moment of growth and Charlotte had shown him that his behavior would get him nowhere. Maybe if she had confronted him or ignored him or pretended to move on, or something to make him panic and realize he was being a jerk. But instead, she reinforces his behavior by 'realizing how much he means to her' and kissing him, which is exactly what he was aiming for.

As a reader, I want to feel like I'm on the same side as the main character. If I'm angry, I'd like to be angry with the main character at some other character. While reading this book, I found myself angry at the main character herself too often and it caused me frustration and kept me from getting into the book.

Charlie refuses to give away her heart, but in the past, has been too quick to give away her body. But one night is about to change all that.

Waking up the morning after the night before, Charlie is mortified to realise she let things go too far...even for her. Good job she's off to college, far away from her reputation and past!

Reinventing her Charlotte - the good girl - she's determined to keep on the straight and narrow and get her education.

Enter bad boy lead guitarist, Dominic Hudson.

The chemistry between these two is off the charts and what starts is a game of cat and mouse, but Charlotte is certain she doesn't want to be caught.

Will she take a risk on love? Or close herself off to the possibility that someone might actually might want her for more than just her body?

You'll have to read to find out!

Probably one of the only reformed "slut girl" books I've read. But I couldn't find the consistency in her slutty behavior. She didn't like to be touched......well explain the sex because that has me all kinds of confused. She always left right after, but woke up too many times with unknown guys. There were other minor issues, but whatever. I liked the hero. I'm also left wondering if this ended on a cliffhanger.

I loved Good Girl. I fell hard and fast for Dominic and Charlotte, they were fun and lovable. I laughed with them and cried with them, and felt sad and uneasy when bad choices were being made. I think I spoke out loud to the characters at one point, lol. It was sweet with twists and turns and lots of angst. I won't give away spoilers, but the romance is top notch and the stressful drama won't disappoint. Now I'm off to read Almost Perfect, because I can't get enough (I'm hooked).

I don't think I could love this book any more than I do! Charlie is out to reinvent herself after being known as the party girl. So she goes to the extreme opposite of what she was, and heads off to college. She isn't there long before her new lifestyle is put to the test by handsome Dominic. He wants her, and not just for one night, but is Charlie ready to risk everything she is trying to accomplish to be with him? They are freaking HOT together though.

This book seemed good on the sample. I have to admit I did get bored with it. At times I was reading thinking wtf, and it gets so boring. Its not a bd book but for me it lacked emotion or real character depth/development. NOT for me sorry.
