A Jar of Ashes

Neela, 1st Assistant to the Commander of MOKSHA-72 - a medical research space station in the Andromeda galaxy - spends a night keeping a promise while struggling to cope with the fatal action she’s been forced to take by someone she loves. All the while contemplating about the person she’s lost, the history of the universe in which she exists in, and the consequences she will inevitably have to face.



In this first book of a soon-to-be series about The Story of Neela, Bangladeshi Canadian writer, filmmaker, and actor, Shaz Mohsin, takes inspiration from his South Asian roots to push the genre of science fiction to discuss ideas of identity, colonization, cultural and linguistic erasure, and the connections we have with our past.
