    Ky can't catch a break. He's a paranormal cop hell-bent on capturing a rogue vampire that's gone way too far but fate keeps throwing a monkey wrench into Ky's plans to bring this vampire to justice.

    Enter Daelyn who accidently falls into a trap with no thanks to the rogue vampire's charms and suddenly Ky has more on his plate than he first thought.

    This is a fast-paced vampire meets witch steamy sweet novella with some really cute (dolphin scene is my fav) moments. I really thought Ky and Lyn had great chemistry with each other.

    Loved every second of this book. The author especially has a strong point for descriptive prose that really makes a reader "see" the weather or different locations with great detail. Definitely recommend for those who love paranormal romance with a bit of an action kick!

    A long career with the agency had Ky Robinson's abilities honed to a titanium point. He was tops in his field, usually working with his partner Tarina, in rounding up and eliminating the rogue debauchee, a vampire who clings to the old ways of obtaining blood. This time though Ky is on his own.

    Tracking the rogue vampire to a seedy bar, Ky finds more than he bargain for. with only moments to spare he saves the debauchee's intended victim but loses the rogue. While tending to the victim Daelyn, Ky believes he has found his heart-mate, his other half who completed him body and soul.

    As Ky and Daelyn work toward finding the debauchee who is still at large, they are also trying to find their way with each other. With very different backgrounds and seemingly insurmountable problems surrounding them can they find the rogue and put a stop to his cruelty while at the same time finding each other?

    A quick, enjoyable read. Plenty of action, good characters and an engaging story helped though it did seem to lag in a few spots for me.

    The romance, strong protective male saving female from being victimized, was standard storyline and enjoyable. But the paranormal world did not make sense, a demon or group of demon whose attribute is longer life and perhaps pagan/wicca type of beliefs. Not interesting on that front, and the story could easily been 'cop saving a lady from deranged killer in non paranormal story.'

    Love at first sight, lust at first touch, a male vampire crashes into his heartmate after 400 years. The author has a truly unique take on vampires and demons, and she had me at the mention of "minions." Fun characters, great action, and hot sex all bundled up in a well-written story. I loved the title too!

    Ky Robinson never expected to find his life mate in the midst of tracking down and eliminating a maverick vampire, a debauchee who holds to the old ways of terrorizing, killing and drinking the blood of humans, yet when Ky rescues the wounded Lyn from the throes of "John's" attack, he knows almost immediately she is the one. Even though she is a demon.

    Though he hides her out on his secret, private island on a Florida river, he doesn't reveal that he, too, is a vampire for fear of scaring her off, or worse, repulsing her. In this modern world, most vampires now use mind control over blood center workers to secure their food. They live alongside unknowing humans, and special debauchee cops like Ky take out the few remaining members of his kind to keep their presence unknown to humans. Even demons like Lyn believe vampires a myth.

    As he nurses her back to health, Ky continues to track down her attacker to no avail until she offers herself as bait. Though fearful of risking her life, he reluctantly agrees to include her in a plan to lure John into the open. But he underestimates Lyn's stubbornness when it comes to taking the order to flee the scene when John shows up, which changes the odds in the takedown, resulting in Lyn becoming aware that Ky is a vampire, just like John.

    The rest of the story revolves around the two mates coming to grips with the realization and acceptance that the rest of their eternity is linked with someone of another kind.

    In A Midsummer Night's Demon, Brenda Sparks has found the perfect blend between vivid, fast-paced action and breathtaking sensual description. The first several pages, as Ky observes his quarry about to conclude his latest conquest with the drugged, unknowing Lyn, move swiftly, immediately pulling the reader into the story to root for Ky. Then, as he takes care of the recuperating Lyn, his struggle to keep his desire for her in check, is beautifully tormenting.

    Sparks' description of their mounting passion is evocative and mesmerizing. For one who rarely reads this type of fiction, A Midsummer's Night's Demon was a captivating introduction to this genre.
