A Mighty Chieftain: Romancing the Guardians, Book Eight Kindle Edition
Balor, the Hellhound leader, and his followers have discovered the Guardians’ sanctuary in Canyon de Chelly, heart of the Navajo Nation. Trapped along with their mates and their native protector, the Guardians must run from one hiding place in the canyon to another using their supernatural powers and raw courage to survive. Fear and suffering are their constant companions.
Tearing Lara apart, Balor holds her twin sister prisoner, threatening her life. How can she save her twin and uphold her vow to guard the sacred prophecies at the same time? It seems impossible. A desperate prayer to Danu the Great Mother may bring a miracle . . . or catastrophe.

About the author

Lyn Horner resides in Fort Worth, Texas – “Where the West Begins” – with her husband and several very spoiled cats. Her two grown children live within easy driving distance along with a gaggle of delightful grandkids.
Trained in the visual arts at the prestigious Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Lyn worked as a fashion illustrator and art instructor for a number of years before turning to her longtime love of writing. She takes pride in crafting passionate love stories, both historical and contemporary. When not writing, Lyn enjoys reading, gardening, genealogy, visiting with family and friends, and cuddling her furry, four-footed children.
The author’s Texas Devlins series blends authentic Old West settings, steamy romance and a glimmer of paranormal. This series has earned multiple awards and nominations, including Crowned Heart reviews and a Rone Award nomination from InD’Tale Magazine.
Lyn was a contributor to Rawhide ʼn Roses, a Western Romance Anthology. This book was a finalist in the 2015 RONE Awards anthology category. Lyn was also part of the bestselling western Christmas anthology Silver Belles and Stetsons. Regrettably, these books are no longer available. However, she is represented in The Posse, a historical western anthology available on Amazon.
Jumping from the American Old West to the present time, Lyn immersed herself in her eight-book romantic suspense series, Romancing the Guardians. These books combine her trademark flashes of psychic phenomena with Irish folklore and a chilling pre-apocalyptic theme. Along the way, readers are treated to thunderous action, terrifying suspense and sizzling romance in places around the world.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2018I have loved reading Lyn Horner's Guardian series but hadn't counted on the last book, the culmination of all the stories to be this good. Most times the last book in a series feels tired, as if the author was sick of writing. Not A Mighty Chieftain ! Lyn gave us a glimpse of all the heroes and heroines we've come to love in this series and more. The ending was no hurried through lack-luster ending that we often see. It was exciting right up to the end, a true page turner. I recommend this book. You won't be disappointed.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2019The Hellhounds have located the Guardians’ in Canyon de Chelly. It’s just a matter of time before they find their sanctuary. They do their best to defend Leon Tseda’s home when Balor arrives with his Hellhound minions. Despite their guardian powers the small tribe end up on a run for their lives to protect their individual prophetic Druid scrolls, which have been guarded by their ancestors for centuries. They run farther into the Navajo land where their survival skills are tested.
This is an exciting adventure where prayers to The Great Mother Goddess, Danu, may be their only hope. As they head deeper into the canyon complex named Canyon del Muerto, Canyon of the Dead, Lara Spenser is faced with coming to terms with some hard truths and some unexpected twists in the story line.
I have to admit this book left me with a few questions. However, it is a unique and entertaining read with an interesting ending. I also love the striking book cover.
FYI: “The Mighty Chieftain” is book 8 and the culmination in Lyn Horner’s Romancing the Guardians Series. I do believe it is necessary to read the other books in this series. **Originally written for "BigAl’s Books and Pals" book blog. May have received a free review copy.** December 13, 2018

I am writing this review with a sense of sadness because this book is the conclusion of this series, a series I loved. If you have not read this series then I strongly suggest beginning with book one you won’t be sorry.
The Hellhounds are gathering and have once again found the Guardians and their mates. They are staying with Leon on Navajo land where they hoped they would be safe but like all the times before the Hellhounds know where they are. Master Balor the leader has had an unwilling ally leading him to the Guardians doorstep, Lara’s twin sister Sara. Sara thought she loved Balor but he used her weakness for heroin against her. Sara and Lara have the ability to reach each other through their minds and a promise of a fix was all it took for Sara to reveal her sister’s location.
All the Guardians and their mates are together with little in the way of weapons and totally outnumbered. Only with the use of some of their gifts could they hope to fight their enemy. Unfortunately their enemy will stop at nothing in order to obtain the scrolls, scrolls that the Guardians have been guarding with their lives. The Guardians have no choice but to run, hiding on top of a mountain where they should have been safe, but all it would take to find them was a shot of heroin.
What I loved most about this series were the characters, each book about one of the Guardians and finding their mate. In addition to this series being good against evil it was also about love and dedication. There was also a surprise that I didn’t see coming and have no intention of revealing.
As I stated earlier in my review this is a series that you should not miss and I am very happy that I didn’t.
