A Truth In Ruby (Onyx Series Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 465 ratings

Life was supposed to be easy after I rescued the princess from the onyx tomb. She would save the world, while I contently stood on the sidelines after completing Destiny’s task.

But Destiny wasn’t done with me. Everything I went through was for one sole purpose—to save myself.

Now, as the princess of Crysia, I must travel across the continent again to the great city of Crystoria, to find the truth of our origins. I must undo the poison King Verin has cast into our lands.

The journey will be difficult since the Dramens want war and Verin will do everything in his power to stop me. With my friends and a rage-filled mate by my side, I can face the truths and save the world.

Even better than the first
Book 2 in the Onyx Trilogy had a lot to live up to after such an amazing first book. I am blown away at the author’s creativity and ability to create such elaborate creatures and characters. She paints a picture so that you’re not left guessing about any detail. I adore these characters and want this story to continue on forever. Even if fantasy isn’t your typical genre to read take a chance on this one! You will not be disappointed and just might find yourself falling in love with these stories like I have.

This story starts off from right where book 1 ends. I will attempt not to, but there might be a few spoilers for book 1, so proceed with caution if you haven’t read book 1 (and if you haven’t you better go start book 1 now! It is absolutely amazing!)

Sapphire has had her memories return and she recalls who she really is, the Fae Princess Sapphire of Crysia. Most of her memories have returned, but not everything. What she does remember is her mate, the other half of her soul, who she lied to in order to save her people from the darkness that took the magic. Now Sapphire and her friends must travel to Crystoria to discover the truth in what King Verin did to poison the land and cut the Fae off from their magic.

This is a story about an epic adventure with Sapphire and her friends. There is danger and love, even love between some unexpected and absolutely perfect for each other couples. You will get some steam in this story and it is just the right amount for this story. There is a lot of character growth in this book. Unlike book 1 being 100% from Sapphire’s POV, this book has chapters from everyone in the groups POV. This changes gives a lot of depth and variety to the story. And the ending is not something I expected to see coming. Another great book and I can’t with for book 3 to come out April 7th!

Book one was by far more polished it's clear to me this was less so just by the editing and how the chapters were in the mobi file. I disliked the constant swapping of pov, one or two pov changes is acceptable but there were so many and most were unneeded for the plot. Though I enjoyed the book it just fell flat in comparison to the first. The plot is still interesting but this felt very rushed in tone, style and editing. I'm still reading the third book to see the end though because I love the characters a lot.

I feel like I have been reading more bully romance novels lately so the action scenes are not as deep as I would hope. Not a lot of effort has gone into making the fighting battles gruesome. This book is definitely a slow burn. I would say there is very minimal spice and the descriptions are more immature. I am glad the book seems to be moving quickly. It feels as if information is missing. I felt the same way in book 1. Like chapters were removed and details were missed in explanations.

Here I thought book one was awesome, as i have said recently i don’t really read fantasy and fae books at all but i am loving this series so far.

This is book 2 and i thought to myself where the hell could this book go and boom a cliffhanger and i can’t wait for more.

This book starts off pretty much from the end of the first book and seeing how Rune and Sapphire handle what happened at the end of the first book was interesting and especially with the twist and Tor.

I love Jessica Florence’s writing and this book was no exception, in this book it was so good to get a little bit of each character, it was mostly Rune and Sapphria but i loved how we got a bit of Tor and Nyx as well.

This storyline was fantastic and had me hanging on to the edge of the seat especially towards the end. Thinking they have to win this battle that was not the surprise and the twist at the end.

If you love stories about Dragons and Fae and owls and woods and shifting then this is a book for you but if you haven’t read a fantasy like this then this is a great series to start

Loved every thing about this book

Ugh, I hate reviews, I'm terrible at them. I'll be quick. This was the 2nd book, there was plenty of action and reveals happening and the story moved along quickly. I'm enjoying this although occasionally, Sapphira grates on my nerves, but that's a personal thing for me. I'll be looking forward to reading what I believe may be the conclusion to this next year.

Wow what a book 2. I loved the way you see how Sapphire grew and become the warrior princess she was always meant to be. I really like Rune and his anger. He loved her so much he was able to get over it. But I liked when he showed her his anger and she would still try and be with him. I love the whole fated mates trope. I loved that Rune was able to finally fully mate with his princess what a build up in book 1.

One thing I really liked was that this book was told in multiple pov’s. I love knowing what some one is saying or feeling. This was a fantastic addition to this story.
This book definitely had it all. Fighting scenes, love and especially the magic. And that ending what a cliffhanger but such an awesome surprise. I just can’t say enough about this book with out giving all the spoilers. If you are debating about reading this book don’t think just read it is such a good book. It definitely is action packed. Hurry up book 3!!’

The quality of writing in the second book pales in comparison to the first. Felt like a rush to add action and sex with the story as a background. The additional POV changes potentially contributed to the diminished story. I will probably read the third to find out what happened but this was almost painful for me to read through.

This book was much better than the first. We finally witnessed battle scenes that were worth reading. Excited to see where book 3 is going to take us.

PS- I’ll probably write a better review tomorrow. Too tired to do it tonight.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Truth In Ruby

Fantastic second addition to the series.
Sapphira has a huge task ahead of her. Travel to a different location, fix the poisoned tree, restore magic and defeat Verin. Easy right? If only.
Rune is furious. She’s lied to him for 20 years. Can he overcome her lies and help on this mission?
Loved this addition to the series. Can’t wait to get stuck into bk 3

If you haven’t jump on board and started the Onyx Trilogy, then you’re really missing out! The first book had me turning through pages so fast, eager to find out everything. The second book was equally as captivating. In this book, I loved the different POV chapters, gave me another insight into everyone’s thoughts! And that ending! Whoa!!! Can’t wait for the 3rd book.
