About the Author

Adrienne Vaughan has been making up stories since she could speak; as soon as she could pick up a pen she started writing them down. No surprise she wanted to be a journalist, ideally the editor of a glossy magazine, where she could meet and marry a rock star! Today, she runs a busy PR practice, writing novels, poems and short stories in her spare time. Adrienne was born in England and raised in Dublin and now lives in rural Leicestershire with her husband, two cocker spaniels and a rescue cat called Agatha Christie. She still harbours a burning ambition to be a Bond girl.

This was an absorbing read with delightful eccentric characters. I enjoyed all three of the books and thought the final wrap up was good. I will definitely read more from this author. The Irish setting made for a change and gave an already interesting read that something extra.

I didn't comment on the second book in this series because the third book just took off from the ending of it. It was a long and interesting contemporary romance that had me not liking the heroine, I thought she was selfish, especially after Ryan pretty much gave up his career to settle down. I think this series could go on with some other characters in this book, reads like a good movie of the week.

As with the first two books, this one is great! I can't put it down about half way through i'll probably finish it tonight. GREAT series, totally love this story! I can't wait to see how the end of the book is, though I will be sad when it's over.

What a great book! As the previous two of the heartfelt trilogy, I read it in no time. Back in Innishmahon, you'll never want to leave again! Again, I recommend reading the whole trilogy, there's so much to treasure!
It's the perfect read for the Winter.
    Can't recommend it enough.

Wonderfully written continuation of the locals and "blow-ins" story. Family bonds are further forged and romance is in the air on the smallIsh Island.

Secrets of the Heart is the final instalment of the Heartfelt series. Marianne Coltrane’s birth parents, reunited after years apart, have finally tied the knot and she couldn’t be happier. The fabulously flamboyant Kathleen MacReady and Brian Maguire are in Dublin on honeymoon after a lovely wedding day.

Marianne is looking forward to her lover, movie star Ryan O’Gorman and his son, Joey’s return to Innishmahon for Christmas. However, nature conspires to throw a spanner in the works in the shape of a vicious storm which shuts down all transport to and from the island. The new harbour wall and the structure for the bridge, replacing the one that was washed away in last year’s storm, are under threat from the huge crane. Still, a mere storm wasn’t going to stop Ryan keeping his promise to be home for Christmas with Joey, whatever risks he had to take.

The islanders pull together in the wake of the storm, making sure everyone has the best Christmas they possibly can. And between them an idea is born to raise the necessary funds for the now critical repairs, which brings previous characters back to the island. Inevitably, nothing is straightforward and fears, losses and concerns have to be faced. The story threads are all brought together in a terrific conclusion.

As with the other two books, Secrets of the Heart is wonderfully crafted, the engaging mix of characters vividly drawn and credible, and to top it off there’s the evocative and beautiful island of Innishmahon. Alongside the romance there’s drama, secrets uncovered, suspense, surprises and emotional impact. Adrienne Vaughan’s writing is captivating and colourful, a joy to read.

Gosh, I really have enjoyed this trilogy, the fabulous lead characters, their story, the side-plots, the secrets, the discoveries, the disappointments, the heartaches, the losses.
And I especially LOVE how it ended.
    THANK YOU!

This is book three in The Heartfelt series, and is a great end to the trilogy. We are back in Innishmahon, catching up with Marianne, Ryan and co. and of course Monty the dog. The island is hit by another storm, putting the bridge-building project at risk. So Marianne and the islanders do what they do best - they band together, pull a few strings, call in some favours and raise the funds themselves. But there’s more than that going on - the island’s inhabitants have lots of secrets and the author does a great job of revealing all, tying up loose ends and bringing the series to a satisfying conclusion - though this is bittersweet in that it’s a shame there won’t be more from Innishmahon.
This is definitely recommended for a relaxing read and some pure escapism. The characters and the island itself feel like old, comfortable friends. A perfect antidote to January!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent down to earth third story of a fine trilogy.

I have read all three of Adrienne's books and loved each one. Well written and in a way that makes the reader feel as if they are there on the island with the characters and joining in their conversations, laughs, triumphs, sadness and losses. My favourite character in this third book has to be Kathleen with her sister Joyce as a firm second. I would love to read more about these two fine ladies whose knowledge of life and days gone by offer intrigue, saucy fun as well as hard struggles.
I would recommend this trilogy to anyone wanting to enjoy a good down to earth story of delightful characters who like most of us go about our day to day business and occasionally stumble on a big event that changes our life somewhat.
    Excellent read.

What can I say? This is one of the most engaging, unputdownable series of books I have read in a long time. I read all three books one after the other.
The story of Marianne and the people in her life continues on the island of Innishmahon with the locals all playing out their lives alongside.
Sadly this is the final book in the series but it certainly doesn't disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another 5-star enthralling romantic adventure
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 31, 2015
Secrets of the Heart begins heart-warmingly in Dublin’s Fair City. Innishmahon’s quirky postmistress, Miss Kathleen MacReady is on honeymoon with her new husband, and new character in the Heartfelt series, Brian Maguire. In next to no time, though, we’ve returned to the island, Marianne Coltrane, and preparations for Christmas which are interrupted in spectacular fashion by a “tsunami” of an Atlantic storm. No morsel of “weather” stops Hollywood superstar and Marianne’s lover, Ryan O’Gorman being helicopter-ed onto the island, his infant son in his arms, nor prevents familiar characters from the States joining this close-knit, engaging community.
The scene is set for Adrienne Vaughan’s signature intrigues, nail-biting relationships, shady dealings and underlying unease. Secrets of the Heart, the last of the Heartfelt Trilogy, is another enthralling romantic adventure, once started, difficult to put down. I already feel a sense of loss leaving behind Marianne, Ryan, Kathleen, Brian, all the larger-than-life characters, not forgetting Monty and his new friend Eve, or the dramatic scenery of Innishmahon. I look forward to what Adrienne has in store in her fourth novel.
