Purchase options and add-ons
After running away from their strict Amish community, Isaac and David never thought they'd return. But family tragedy draws them back to Zebulon, where they must once again pretend they aren’t gay. Pretend they’re only friends.
Under mounting pressure from the community, their families are desperate to bring them back into the fold. Isaac and David struggled in the outside world, and there’s comfort in reuniting with parents and siblings they love—even as they yearn for a future together.
Even as it becomes harder to hide the truth about who they really are.
They're caught between two worlds, and it could tear them apart. Can Isaac and David recommit to each other and find a place to call home?
A Way Home by Keira Andrews is the third book in a series of forbidden Amish love. This gay romance features steamy exploration, epic family drama, and of course a happy ending.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2025This series of 3 books are definitely some of the best gay books I have ever read. Every one who has gay family or friends should read these. Their about the real journey most gay people travel.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2024This is our final installment in the series. Tragedy struck and Isaac’s brother Nathan is diagnosed with cancer that takes him and his brother back home to their Amish community.
This story is told a bit differently since we get a few instances with David’s point of view. It really touched my heart because it’s so difficult to be shunned in the name of religion to such an extent you basically don’t exist anymore. Yet there he is to try and save a brother that doesn’t even know if his existence and almost against the will of his parents because again, religion above all.
Though they make the right choice at the end the fact it was even a conversation to be had to save the life of your child is crazy!
Yet this isn’t the main plot, it’s still very much about the relationship between Isaac and David and how they are trying to mend broken bridges while navigating this difficult time being back to their Amish roots and having to once again hide their true self.
We do get a HEA for both our MC and things end as expected with the families and community.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2025I wanted to give this 5 stars I love these characters and I laughed and cried and felt all the feels right alongside them, this story was beautifully written and THE ONLY reason I gave 4 instead of five is because I really wanted a later years epilogue, I wanted an epilogue that showed their beautiful life worked out with kids and their country life wish ect. But we cant always get what we want and I still loved this series with my whole heart
- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2015I read the first two books in this series a couple of months ago and had to wait for this final book in the trilogy. I read many books between then and now but this couple, Isaac and David, were ever on my mind as I waited to see what would happen next for them. I read this book from cover to cover the moment it became available. Please do yourself the favor of reading the first two books in the trilogy before reading this one. If you can read them all back to back, so much the better.
The author is now saying (in social media) that she will likely write a book that will pick things up a few years down the road for this same couple. I so hope that she does. They are amazing and interesting, beautiful and complex. The secondary characters are also very well drawn. The cross cultural issues that Isaac and David must deal with coming from an Amish lifestyle into the "English" world are really fascinating and gave me a lot to think about. The thing I most enjoyed is that while they begin to acclimate to life in the world outside their Amish settlement, they appear to be holding steady on the Amish value of finding a life mate and putting everything you have into that person and that relationship as a true partnership for life.
Without spoilers that you can't already discern from the blurbs of the three books, I will say that you get a chance to see what Amish life is like for the two young men and how they manage to start a relationship in such a confining environment. You will see their decision to go into the world together and you will see what it is like for them to go back to the Amish settlement for a time during a time of crisis for one of their family members. How that journey touches them and everyone else involved makes for a really thought provoking read.
The author does not judge the Amish life in any way and it gives the reader the chance to appreciate the strengths and beauty that a simple, yet tough, existence that the Amish way can hold for people. Both for those it suits and those it does not suit because they can not conform to the cultural norms of the group.
This series is all indie. The quality of the final product, for anyone who notes those things, is exquisite. The covers are beautiful and the formatting and script editing are far superior to any other indie novels that I have read. I sincerely hope that the author does decide to write one more for us about Isaac and David. I'm sure it will delight and move me as much or more than these three terrific novels already have. I'll be visiting San Francisco this summer for ten days. I sure wish it were possible to look this couple up and share a meal and a talk. They seem that real to me!
PS: The love scenes are scorching hot for anyone who wants/needs to know before purchasing an m/m read. They are woven seamlessly into the story and very well written.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2015Book 3) Last in this trilogy. This is a beautiful journey of two souls that find each other, and whether or not it's acceptable, they know in their hearts this is real love. In this book 3 we have Isaac and Aaron going back home because their brother Nathan has cancer. Isaac and David haven't resolved their problems, but David is going home, too. Aaron's wife will go also when she gets time off. This M/M story is heartwarming, realistic, engrossing, and well written. The characters are deep with an interesting tale to tell. Along with hot sexiness this is a worthwhile read. We learn a lot about Amish life and differences between areas of the Amish and what is allowed. The author tells us how their world works, and we understand it, even if we don't agree with it. The naiveté of David and Isaac, is sweet, and their desires to know more of the world is so natural. Isaac is expanding his world by going to school to get his GED. David has his woodworking, and a shop to use, with business growing. Deep feelings have grown, love develops even stronger, but each feels jealous at times of the other's friends and daily business. David is hiding his panic attacks and drinking, and their communications break down. The guys struggle also with the role of God in their new life. I want to hug them both so badly !! Aaron and Jen are wonderful and welcoming. After David reaches home, Isaac and David need to talk, and they finally find time to do so while they wait to hear if Isaac or Aaron are a match for the bone marrow transplant. The tale is very moving, with amazing characters and deep love that is riveting.
I will be happy to read anything this author writes. Perfect.
Highly recommend !! ENJOY !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Read
This is excellent literature, accurate and true to life. It makes one realize how difficult it must be for young people to grow up in an Amish community while being tangentially exposed to the 'world'. Add to that the gay connection between the guys and you have a totally untenable situation which the author has developed very effectively.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just great
I read this trio of books and as soon as I’d finished the first I had to read the second I needed to read the third. A fabulous story line throughout, I felt I knew the main characters personally.
A great write.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb reading
Fantastic story throughout all 3 books, great believable characters full of highs and lows with lots of affectionate parts. One cannot believe in this time that old fashion ways still exist.
Brilliant ending would like to know how they progress in there new rental property.
