What happens when a nationally renowned sex therapist and author begins to abhor every aspect of her successful occupation? She falls in love, of course. Dr. Melina Rose is sick of sex and has spent her life avoiding intimacy in her personal life. Book 2: Revenge in Amethyst

After abandoning her career as a renowned sex therapist, Melina Rose has returned to her hometown and fallen in love with Scott Romero. Scott and Melina are ecstatically expecting a baby and planning their wedding. But someone driven by jealousy wants to see Melina's dream-life crash down. A former patient who'd revealed his disturbing fantasies only to Melina is prepared to do anything in order to keep his secrets safe.

Book 3: Reckless Rose

Even bad girls need love... When Reece Childs rolls back into Amethyst to stay, Lona Rose realizes her reckless crush on the older brother of a former beau is still waging hot and heavy. But how to prevent the rumors and mistakes of her past from ruining the start of something wonderful? Reece has just the plan to head off the rumor mill...and make this reckless rose his own forever.

Book 4: Christmas in Amethyst

Eager to make it up to her son's many disappointments in the past year, single mom Sheila Mason takes a shift at the restaurant she works on Christmas Day in order to buy Dev a puppy. When a creepy customer follows her on the deserted road from the restaurant to her home in Amethyst, her holidays go from bad to worse.

Review

5 Angels! "Each of these stories is wonderful. The unifying thread in these four stories is the setting, Amethyst. I have to say that the setting is so original that it's a character on its own. Another strength that flows through these four stories is the way this author writes her characters, so filled with human emotion in such a wide range. I felt a connection to the characters in this book. I wanted happy things for the good ones and waited for the creepy guys to get their due! This is a very entertaining volume, one I highly recommend reading." ~Fallen Angel Reviews
4 1/2 Books! "These contemporary stories all take place in the small town of Amethyst where the characters' lives intersect, drawing you into the drama of small town life. Wiesner takes a bold step by wading into dark waters. This made for a very unique and interesting story with unexpected twists. Wiesner uses finely tuned skills to draw the reader in and make you live the story. She tugs at your heartstrings, pumps your adrenaline and sends you falling into love. And all with a masterful attack of words." ~Long and Short Reviews

4.5 Stars! "Ms. Wiesner surprises me with the depth of her writing and this was no exception. This series begs to be read in its entirety. I look forward to more adventures from this quirky town." ~Once Upon A Romance Review

A Rose for Romeo (Book One-contemporary romance)

I applaud Melina for the courage it took to walk away from her toxic work situation. I liked how decisively she severed all ties to her former life. Melina is definitely a planner and she has a very specific idea of what she wants to accomplish when she arrives in Amethyst. However her reunion with Scott definitely puts a kink in her carefully laid plans.

Melina is certainly not the awkward girl she used to be and she and Scott have great chemistry. I really like the situation that brought them back together. I can’t give away too many details, but I will say that her use of a pair of sun glasses and a sledge hammer is a particularly memorable moment. I do think that Melina and Scott fall in love a little too quickly for it to be truly believable. I would have liked their romance to be drawn out more, especially since Melina has some issues with intimacy. When the story ended, I wasn’t sure what kind of couple Melina and Scott would be, but I felt they had great potential.

Revenge in Amethyst (Book Two-romantic suspense)

After the brief glance of Scott and Melina as a couple in A Rose for Romeo, I was pleased to see that their relationship is progressing nicely in this installment of the series. They are very attentive to each other, and their chemistry continues to sizzle as they make plans for their future. I particularly like how good Scott and Melina are with Devlin, Scott’s young cousin. The way they care for the young boy indicates that they will be great parents

Unfortunately, Scott and Melina’s path to happiness hits a bump when Melina’s past comes back to haunt her in a very dangerous way. Melina’s most disturbed patient didn’t take too kindly to her abrupt retirement and he has every intention of making Melina pay. When Melina’s identity and location are revealed, Melina and Scott’s lives hang in the balance making the story very intense.

While I enjoyed the pacing and intensity of Revenge in Amethyst, I do wish that some of the secondary characters were a bit more rounded. Most of them are either very good or very bad without much in between. However, I still found the story and its conclusion very satisfying.

    Reckless Rose (Book Three-contemporary romance)

When I read the blurb for this story, I was very curious. Lona is definitely not portrayed in a positive light in the previous two novellas. However, once I finished reading Lona’s story. I found myself wanting to know more. Even though a couple of years have passed between this story and the previous one, there was absolutely no indication given in the other tales that Lona wanted to change. It’s not that I don’t believe that she could change, there was just very little detail provided on what motivated her to make such drastic changes to her life.

I also wish that her relationship with Reece had been drawn out more. They had a very short and intense encounter years ago, but it wasn’t enough to really make me believe that they had a strong connection. I felt that their relationship needed to build a bit more before they made declarations of love.

Christmas in Amethyst (Book Four-Holiday, romantic suspense)

Christmas in Amethyst is by far my favorite story in this anthology. Jeb and Sheila have a rich history full of love and heartbreak that makes their connection very real and believable. When they were young Jeb and Sheila were the classic sweethearts who tried and failed to maintain a long distance relationship after high school ended. Some poor decisions on Sheila’s part tore them apart and her guilt continues to keep them apart for a very long time.

Sheila has convinced herself that she doesn’t deserve Jeb’s love anymore. However, Jeb is a very patient man. He is always there for Sheila. He is a very solid and strong man, but he’s also incredibly gentle and great with Sheila’s son, Devlin. He knows that Sheila is too proud to accept too much help and he gives her space when she needs it.

Sheila’s incident with the creepy customer at the restaurant is definitely scary and had me on the edge of my seat. I flew through the pages hoping that Sheila would make it through the ordeal safe and finally find the happiness that she deserves.

Overall, I enjoyed reading Adventures in Amethyst. I recommend it to anyone who loves heartwarming romance paired with a dash of suspense.

    A Rose for Romeo (Romance)

When it reached the point that she dreaded going to work each day, Dr. Melina Rose quits counseling and returns to her home town. She had left Amethyst, Wisconsin, seventeen years ago after her mother died and her father began an intimate relationship with someone almost immediately. Arriving in town, Melina goes to a realtor to purchase the McNulty house. It would take a lot to restore the place, but Melina would accept no other house. Problem is that the house sold only two days prior. So Melina goes to the place to speak with the new owner. That turns out to be Scott “Romeo” Romero. He will happily give the house to her, no money needed, but they would restore the place together first.

*** THREE STARS! Much of this story deals with setting up various characters with their past histories. A small section sets the ground work for a bad guy who will appear in the next tale. The romance between Melina and Scott is too fast (for me.) It will continue to grow in the next story.

    Revenge in Amethyst (Romantic Suspense)

Melina thinks that her suffocating counseling career is all in her past; however, that past is coming back to haunt her. Lawrence Caruso, her most disturbed patient, is searching for her. Melina is not too worried until the New York Times runs an article about her and tells the world where she is.

**** FOUR STARS! Melina and Scott’s romance continues, but there is a lot of suspense mixed in this time. Melina’s sister, Lona, gets more of her past told since she will be one of the main characters in the next episode. The author certainly knows how to build drama! I loved it! ****

    Reckless Rose (Romance)

(Our story begins a couple of years after the last ends.)
Lona Rose has been through two divorces. The mistakes of her reckless past would be whispered about in town until the day she dies. But now Lona is no longer restless and actually wants to put down some roots. She wants a good man and a family, just like Melina has. But there is no man in town that interests Lona, until Reece Childs comes back to Amethyst.

*** THREE STARS! This is a very short story. Lona is nothing like she was in the first two sections. Though Melina and Lona will never be close sisters, they at least seem to be getting along better. In my opinion, the author does not give enough information about Reece or about the attraction Reece and Lona shared long ago. This is a very whirlwind romance. ***

    Christmas in Amethyst (Romantic Suspense)

Sheila Mason once had a baby boy with Travis Dannon. Travis left and never wanted much (if anything) to do with his son. Sheila loves Devlin “Dev” more than anything though. She makes more money working at a truck stop than she ever could in town, so it is worth an almost hour drive to get to and fro the place. Today is Christmas Eve and Sheila needs the overtime and tips to earn the last one hundred dollars to buy Dev the Christmas present he has wanted for so long, a Golden Retriever puppy. But when a creepy customer begins following her after the shift, Sheila wants nothing more than to reach the safety of Officer Jeb Duncan.

***** FIVE STARS! Wow! This entire story covers a single day, beginning early in the morning of Christmas Eve. Dev is a darling boy and has had cameos throughout the other tales. It is wonderful to finally see his mother get her own story told. Jeb is just awesome and I personally felt that Sheila should have snatched him up much sooner. I, as the reader, got to meet Travis too. I am happy to say that I do not know any man as immature and irresponsible as him. Of all the stories in this volume, this one is the best! *****

I freely chose to review this series and fell in love with the town and the people. I liked that Dr. Melina Rose decided to give up her sex therapist practice in New York to return to the last place she expected to return after she left seventeen years ago and severed ties with her dad except to yearly send a Christmas card. The series continues when her older sister seeks revenge for stealing her one time boyfriend, Scott Romero even though he dumped her and left town for a football career, but finally love comes to Lona, Melina's older sister when Reece Childs returns home and Lona realizes that her crush on him could start to bloom into something heavy and hot when she repented for for revenge on her little sister, and the book wraps up when single mom, Sheila Mason returns home with her son after a dreadful marriage and finds the flames never went out on the man she she should have married.

Readers should love some of these novellas and eagerly await book five!
