Against the Rules: A student/teacher, age gap romance (Kingston Brothers Book 3) Kindle Edition
I meet a strikingly beautiful woman who’s new in town. Our night starts with us laughing and drinking in the bar, moves to my bed, and ends with her disappearing into the night without any exchange of information.
Monday morning, she walks into my calculus class and knocks the breath from my lungs.
My one-night stand is now my student.
Never one to cross the line and always one to play by the rules, I make sure to tell her nothing more can happen. But as time goes on, I start wanting to erase the line and throw the rule book out the window. Because even though it’s against the rules to be with her, I feel like, with Nova, I can find happiness again. But she deserves more than becoming my dirty little secret.

Review
This story had everything I look for in a 5 star read. I felt all the emotions I want to feel when reading a romance story. I laughed, swooned, yelled and even got teary eyed. I guess I just love when a book sucks me in and I feel what the characters feel. -Jen from Book Bitches Blog
I have been dying for Elijah's story since we met him in Royce & Cills' books. I knew it was a professor/student romance but OMG guys, this book is literally the age gap/professor-student/forbidden romance of my dreams. I love Elijah. He is literally the book boyfriend of my dreams. -Dear Books Love Skye
This book is incredible. 100% my favorite by the author so far. I would give this more than five stars if I could. It's a book a read in a single sitting and stayed on my mind for the next week. The best kind of book hangover that makes you smile. -Kristen, Goodreads Reviewer
I've read tons of different plots and characters and authors and I just want to say READ.THIS.BOOK. with enough emphasis so you fully understand you should READ.THIS.BOOK. Was that enough?-Jessica, OMG Reads Blog

- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2021It's the last weekend before college begins and he's bogged down grading paper and his brothers dragged him out to get drunk. When a woman who's caught his attention gets a drink doused on her by a drunk he steps up to help her out. After talking for a little over an hour he takes her home.
Elijah is a professor at the local university. As he prepares for his second class a student arrives early. This can't be happening to him. She is none other than the woman he took home with him on Saturday. Nova....his student.
Nova is new to town. She left Florida to get away from a boyfriend who became a threatening stalker. Her new sexy math professor will hopefully keep her fears off her mind.
I absolutely loved this book! I haven't read Royce or Cill's stories yet, but will definitely be catching up on the family as soon as I can. I love Elijah! Talk about sexy! WOW! The storyline of this book is great. Nova may be younger, but she's not immature. Elijah does everything he can to stay away from Nova as soon as he realized she was a student. His integrity and love of his family made him even more loveable.
I highly recommend this book. I couldn't put it down. Isabel Lucero brought all the characters to life and I can't wait to visit Gaspar again!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2021Nova leaves from Tampa to Gaspar to escape her crazy ex-boyfriend. When she goes to a bar one night and meets Elijah, they have a one night stand and leave it at that. When the first day of school starts and Nova walks into her Calculus class and low and behold her professor is none other than Elijah. This makes things complicated cause professor student relationships are not allowed. What will happen when Nova's ex finds out where she is? What will happen when attraction is too much with Nova and Elijah?
This was a great age gap, student teacher relationship. I love how protective Elijah was with Nova. I also love that even though they were having a relationship he didn't let that sway her grades, like she was doing bad and he offered to tutor her not just give her a grade. I love that you see the progression of their relationship and how much they do care for one another as well.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 20203.5 Stars- I Needed More...
There's nothing like a good teacher/student romance to tickle my fancy and I was ready to meet Nova and Professor Kingston.
As the blurb says, after a night of talking and drinking, Nova and Elijah end up back at his house for a quick roll in the hay. She's new to town and a girl that likes adventure, he's a bit of a stick in the mud due to his past that he still isn't quite over and looks for a woman to warm his bed.
The walk into the classroom is always the best part of these books and Nova's walk in didn't disappoint. However, that was pretty much where the angst ended for me. There was no "when is the other shoe going to drop" with these two. They figured things out pretty quickly and didn't have to do much sneaking around. It felt as if thier personal lives took over the storyline, leaving the teacher/student romance in the dust.
The book was well written, but lacked the chemistry and angst I wanted. That said, Elijah Kingston seems to have an interesting family I wouldn't mind getting to know a little better.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2020Wow! Just, Wow! Against the Rules is hands down, one of the best that Ms. Lucero has written. She just continues to hone her craft with each written word.
Against the Rules is one of my favorite tropes, Student/Professor relationship. The start to this spirited and smokin' hot story starts as it goes on. H-O-T. But what really gets me is the sense of self that Nova exudes in one who is really just starting her life. Elijiah needed her spark to bring him into the light of day.
The relationship is not without it's issues, but my god. The journey these two go through was most definitely worth the wait. Not that the other Kingston Brothers didn't help make this series what it is. Worth the money, time and pure enjoyment of immersing myself in their world.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2020I believe I read this book with the hugest smile on my face the whole time. Isabel has always written every character to life and I love her stories so much. I have waited for Elijah story I knew that I would love him but oh my God I can’t even begin to explain how great this book has made me feel LOL. I love books that have feel good moments but this entire story has my heart, kept me smiling and I didn’t want me to put it down. It even had me sneaking to the bathroom just so I can read a chapter or two at work. Omg I love these Kingston men and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2022I’ve read plenty of student/ teacher romances but there was something about this one that just warmed my heart. They had a sweetness about them both. I like how Nova brought Elijah out of his shell. Grateful they got the chance they deserved. Good read!

These two were totally meant for each other right from the beginning even when there were a million reasons why they shouldn't be together. Loved this book so much .

4.0 out of 5 stars New to me author
Oh my! Sloooooooooow build up after initial meet that was glossed over- not much detail at all!! I came very close to DNF but I’m glad I stuck to it.
Nice vibe and interesting take on the student/teacher trope.

Against The Rules is the third standalone book in the Kingston Brothers series. I've been looking forward to Elijah's story and I'm really pleased to say it didn't disappoint. I really enjoyed this story and I loved the chemistry between Elijah and Nova. Another great book in this series.
