Ageless Fate (A Collection of Strays Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 648 ratings

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would find my true mate in my ER. He’s handsome and everything I’ve ever wished for in a mate but will my age be a problem for him? And most importantly, what will the houseful of strays I’ve adopted think of Charlie? ~Dakota

Waking up in the hospital was not on my list of things to do but finding my true mate makes it worth the pain. My father pushed me out of our pack when I wouldn’t conform to his mold of what an alpha should be like but Dakota shows me I’m worthy of his love just the way I am. Not everyone in my instafamily welcomes me with open arms and I can’t help but wonder, ‘Will I ever find acceptance?’ ~Charlie

This 30,000 word novella is filled with adopted family feels, mpreg, and knotty fun and intended for 18 and over readers.

Toby Wise is a stay at home parent who hails from a tiny town in Wisconsin. Contrary to popular Wisconsin stereotypes, he’s not a cheese-head who loves football but rather an introvert who spends all his time on the internet, drinking coffee, spending time with his kid, and cooing about his adorable cat, Pikachu.

In April of 2019, A Collection of Strays was born after the world of fanfiction drew him back into his love of writing. Now he’s writing all things omegaverse as long as it includes silly moments and found family.

Quick & low angst MM romance

Quick & low angst MM romance
Book 1 in Toby Wise’s A Collection of Strays series. You don’t need the prequel, Before Fate – but I think it helps with the backstory/world building. Quick and low angst shifter omegaverse, fated mates, MPREG novella. It’s insta love between Charlie & Dakota and syrupy sweetness. I like Dakota’s kids and how hard Charlie works to connect with all of them. The banter is a lot of fun – especially since the youngest of the kids is turning 18 during the story. Charlie and Dakota get their HEA and a cute little epilogue. I’m looking forward to Elwood’s book, Touching Fate.

This is such a cute, sweet, happy story. I've added it to my reread list, and I can see myself coming back to this lovely world again and again. The characters are so great, and the story is wonderful.

This is a mm shifter romance with mpreg, the first in a series that should be read in order. This does have some of the typical aspects of shifter mating like insta-love, heat bonding and in this case, mpreg but it had its unique characteristics too. This author has an interesting writing style, a certain unique way of wording things that you will enjoy once you get used to it. There wasn’t a lot of angst in this story but it was still enjoyable and sweet!

This was such an amazing read. I loved the age difference and all of the kids that the Omega had...Each one different and special in their own way. I loved how Charlie just opened his heart to them all, and how he just followed his omega's lead when it came to the family. This book was different but so well written and showed so much love of family and mates. There was a lot of humor that I absolutely loved, great feel good emotions, not a lot of conflict or angst....just a really well written and well developed read. I'm definitely looking for more from this author and this series.

This is a fairly light-hearted story of a family of misfit shifters whose "dad" finally finds his alpha mate and ultimate happiness.

You need to be prepared to blindly set reality aside to accept some of the premises presented (like a male omega wolf birthing a baby), but the depth of the related emotions will let you accept the unlikely and believe.

If you're not into a lot of mushy affection described in your reading, this book may not be for you. But it is a touching story of family and loving relationships, even if they are a bit mis-matched.

I loved that way more than I expected to. This was a first read from this author and I’m already in love with this adorable made family. Can’t wait to read on and see what they get up to.

While this may not be five star writing or a five star romance, I have been waiting for some more role reversal in A/B/O settings, and this adds some additional of my favorite tropes. Hence my personal reaction is I enjoyed the heck out of this fluffy, quick, and sweet strong, older Omega with a family finding a fated mate in a somewhat abused, younger alpha. I loved the inclusion of a human(ish) child in the mixed shifter family, and the range of characters in the children.

It’s Omegaverse fluff, but it’s my kind of onegaverse fluff.

The biggest critique is it moves so quickly (it’s a novella) that most developments are given short shrift and move at lightning speed. If you just accept quick, fated mate romances with just jump into most serious and sexy developments with a line or two, it reads as quick and escapist (rather than eye-rollingly fast and simple).

3.5 rounded to 4. Pretty standard omegaverse story, met fated mate, mated, and then baby. This is more of an introduction to the family and the intriguing mix of members. I do like the older Omega and the younger Alpha pairing. The other books in the series should be more interesting.

This was a fun and sweet read. I loved the alternating POV, and how the characters interacted. Dakota and his found family were wonderful to read about, and Charlie fit in so well. It wasn't quite long enough or had enough depth to get a 5 star rating from me, but otherwise it was a great read and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is such a sweet story about caring and to let other persons be, who they are. And an a....e of father, who can't accept his son like he is. I'll want to read the next book too, that's for sure. I recommend this book.

    I enjoyed this book.

Dakota and Charlie were very sweet with each other. I loved how they are different than more conventional alpha and omega types and how by being together they slowly embraced their differences.

I loved all the kids and I can't wait for their stories
