Agent of Enchantment (Dark Fae FBI Book 1) Kindle Edition
I thought this would be a simple profiling case. Just another Jack-the-Ripper wannabe, prowling London’s streets, searching for easy kills. I was wrong.
This killer is fae, and he’s as elusive as smoke on the wind. But I’m an FBI profiler, and it’s my job to track him down. It doesn’t matter that one of the main suspects--a lethally alluring fae--is trying to seduce me… or kill me, I’m not sure which.
I won’t be stopped, not even when panic roils through the streets of London, or when the police start to suspect me. As I close in on the killer, I follow him to a magical shadow realm that’s like nothing I ever expected, where I’m hunted like prey. Fine. Bring it on. I’m an FBI Agent. And it turns out I have magical powers of my own.

you can’t put it down!!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2022I thought this was going to be a simple profiling case. Fly to London, profile the murderer and go home. Maybe stop at some of the famous London Ripper murder spots my friend Scarlett is always going on about. If I have time. But ever since the plane touched down I've been getting these weird feelings and suppressed memories of Horace keep popping up. Best not to think on those. Then, this man Roan who saved me from a couple of thugs that first night is following me around acting like he has all the answers so long as I go along with his every plan. No matter how sexy he is he has just made it to the top of my suspect pool. I just have to solve this before I get sucked into all their weirdness going on in this city.
This book was a BookBub suggestion in 2017 and I have always enjoyed a good fantasy. The cover has fire on it, so it is a bit misleading to what you expect her power to be, but that is okay. Then I have this minor obsession with crime TV shows. I almost always have Criminal Minds, NCIS, Bones, or Castle on in the background when the kids aren't in the room. I have to have some kind of balance between all the cartoons the kids watch and my balance is murder.
While I struggled with the first person point of view in this book it didn't take too much away from the overall storyline. It just read more like a journal than a book because of it. I'm just so used to third person books that first person is out of the norm for me. The powers in this book were a bit atypical as well. The ability to travel through mirrors, feeding off emotions, and an invisibility potion that turns everyone invisible to the user.
I can't say that I had a favorite character in this book, although Roan did make it hard not to love him. A little stalkerish and very willing to take any advantage he can get, but loveable none-the-less. Gabriel was adorable, but he didn't really rank in the comparison. I would say it's like comparing Derek Morgan to Spencer Reed but I can't because I'm the odd one who would choose Reed over Morgan and there is nothing geeky about Roan.
I was pleasantly surprised as to who the murderer was until the scene right before we meet him. I kept expecting it to be the Fae King who had banned all pixies, but what happened works better for a later storyline, I'm sure.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2017I had been eyeing this book for awhile and was excited to see it up for review on NetGalley. I immediately jumped on the chance. Cassandra has been called across the ocean from the US to help in London on a serial killer case. She works as a profiler for the FBI, and her expertise is just what they need. While helping them, Cassandra learns many things about herself and her past. But, will it all be too late to stop a killer? I wasn’t sure what to expect when I read this book, but I definitely got more than I bargained for. I loved this book. The writing was great, the storyline was interesting and kept me entertained from start to finish, and I loved the characters. I didn’t even figure out who the killer was until right before the big reveal. Was it perfect? No. There was one point where all one character had to do was blow out the flame to stop the bad guy (I don’t want to spoil a part of the book), and I have to say why did they have to call in someone from the US? However, the flaws were very minor, and I can’t wait until the next one of the series. I will definitely check out more books by these authors. Highly recommend! Thanks to NetGalley and Weapenry Co-op/C.N. Crawford-Alex Rivers for the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed. This exact review will be posted on both Amazon and Goodreads.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2020The cover certainly captivated me, and I love FBI type crime mysteries. The writing is well done so you’re not able to tell who was writing which part. It’s pretty well blended. The whole dark fae world was a bit different for me. The characters were likable though the fact that Gabriel was so willing to immediately believe Cassandra made me think he was being set up as the villain in the end. It was hard for me to believe that he would trust so easily. Or would have weapons to take down a supernatural. It was an ok story and there’s closure for this story’s struggles; yet hints enough at the bigger problems in the future that can entice readers to keep going to see what will happen next. I like that a lot of Cassandra’s past isn’t immediately divulged so you have more to look forward to in the next stories. It just wasn’t as captivating as I had hoped it would be.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2025Cassandra is an FBI behavioral specialist who is sent to London to help solve a jack the riper copy cat serial killer case. However she starts feeling differently when she arrives as well as seeing things that don't seem real or human. Meeting interesting inhuman like people like Roan, she enters into things she doesn't think could be real. She finds out she is a pixie/ a half fae. An interesting book that brings the real world into the magical world while an FBI agent tries to find a killer. I really like this book and will be continuing on with this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good story
A great mix of the crime world and the fae world, Agent of Enchantment is a good story that is set in two worlds.
The author dives straight into action and much of the world intro is done by the action.
It's onto the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping read
I had a lot of fun reading this book. It's simply a lot more interesting than a lot of books that do a similar thing. The lore is not superficial, and while it's not doing anything incredibly new, it's doing it in a refreshing kind of way. Reminiscent of Holly Black stories!
