Aisle Kill Him: Felicity Philips Investigates Book 3 Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,722 ratings

Marriage. It can be absolute murder.

At a wedding fayre in a prestigious London hotel, Felicity Philips is in her element …

… until something terrible happens in her booth and all eyes swing her way.

Convinced arch-rival, Primrose Green, is behind it, Felicity knows she will have to find the proof before she points the finger. That might not be that easy though. She needs to schmooze the top clients perusing the companies on show – if she doesn’t then Primrose will, and there’s the small matter of the royal wedding to consider – reputation is everything.

Thankfully, she’s got help. It comes in the form of her teenage, part-ninja niece, Mindy, vastly superior cat, Amber, and dumb but enthusiastic dog, Buster. Together, the foursome will have to pit their wits to catch Primrose in the act of dastardly sabotage. But when a second terrible accident occurs, even Felicity begins to doubt her assumptions.

Whoever is behind the events, they have more than mischief in mind and now that Felicity has poked her nose in, there is a target on her back.

Planning a wedding can be murder, let’s hope it’s not hers.

Steve Higgs just keeps on writing great characters. Even the ones we hate are perfectly formed. Indulgent, page-turning mysteries, interwoven with outright hilarity.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"The twist is how funny murder can be in the hands of a talented writer! Characters who you feel you already know, as they're so believable, but some of them you'll be glad you don't! Another great read in a series!"

"Light hearted with lots of twists and turns in the tale. This author has me looking forward to the next adventure each time I come to the end of a story."

"Another book not able to put down just the right amount of interest and humour to keep one carrying on to the end well done waiting for next book of Steve Higgs to come out."

When Steve Higgs wrote his debut novel, Paranormal Nonsense, he was a captain in the British Army. He would like to pretend that he had one of those careers that must be blacked out and generally denied by the government, and that he has to change his name and move constantly because he is still on the watch list in several countries. In truth, though, he started out as a mechanic - not like Jason Statham in the film by that name, sneaking around as a hitman, but more like one of those sleazy guys who charges a fortune and keeps your car for a week even though the only thing you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.

At school, he was largely disinterested in all subjects except creative writing, for which he won his first prize at the age of ten. However, calling it the first prize he won suggests that there were other prizes, which is not the case. Awards may yet come, but in the meantime, he enjoys writing mystery and thriller novels and claims to have more than a hundred books forming a restless queue in his mind because they are desperate to be written.

Now retired from the military, he lives in southeast England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he'll ever leave, the beer is just too good.

I love Steve Higgs' books! I began with Patricia Fisher and moved on to Albert and Rex, which is my favorite of his series' so far, and have recently begun reading Felicity's series. I love his books because A) they are fun, B) they include pets, & C) they are clean. There's no explicit sex, there's no profanity, and even the violence in the murder parts of the stories is not explicit. His books that I've read so far are just plain, simple, cozy mystery style stories and I appreciate that! I also appreciate the fact that he uses the animals in his stories to, in one way or another, help to solve the Mysteries! Not so much with Patricia's stories, but in the others we get to "hear" what they think! They're not just props, they are part of the story! In Felicity's books she can actually speak to and understand her pets, Buster the bulldog and Amber the Ragdoll cat! I laugh at Buster, and I roll my eyes at Amber! I'm sure the stories would be good even without them but in my opinion, they would not be the same without Buster and Amber. I suggest reading Mr. Higgs' stories in order, but just read them! I don't think you'll be sorry!!

It was well written and had a few humorous bits in it. I love mysteries with cats (or dogs) that can communicate with their owner, so this is the type of book I enjoy. What I don’t like is that the cat does not care about her owner (saying things like if Felicity died, she would just get someone else to take care of her) and also has no conscience about trying to kill the dog. I hope the cat will have a change of heart because it really takes away from my enjoyment of this series.

Another really interesting and incredible story about what usually doesn't happen at this gathering! But then you still just try to follow the clues and who did what when where and still can't come up with the right answer. Poor Vince he really got more than he bargain for.

Loved the third book of this series. I laughed all the way through it. Who done it Buster her bull dog and Amber her rag doll cat and her niece and all the other characters. Such a fun who done it cozy mystery. I can t wait to read the youth book of this cute series so I have rated this book again a five star.

Felicity is a weeding planner and wanna be a mature detective. She can hear and communicate with her dig and cat, but so far her mystery solving attempts just miss the mark. Funny entertain stories.

At times it gets trite and too silly even for a cozy mystery. also, the cat is not like any cat I've ever owned. My cats are always protective towards me and many years ago I had a cat that would not allow anyone to approach my newborn twins without my specific permission. Yes they were independent. I really love my dogs and they really loved and tried to care for me.

A very enjoyable book, as always from Steve Higgs. Keeps you guessing right to the end. My only problem with it is the poor proofreading, misspellings, misused apostrophes and wrong versions of words used e.g "peddle" instead if "pedal". Otherwise, a great read.

This is the 3rd book in the series and I am loving it especially the animals. I'm so glad I decided to persevere, after the first short story I wasn't sure but now I'm hooked. One chapter in particular I couldn't stop laughing and my other half thought I was cracking up. The storylines are always edge of the seat...ish....but I just love the characters and their interactions. Don't be put off by the cat and dog...They are so funny. Steve is one of the best storytellers ever and I have read thousands of books of many different genres. Please don't stop writing these stories light up my day.
