After reading this 7th Battlecruiser Alamo, I still find it to be an engrossing story that is exciting, at times tense, has a wonderful sense of adventure, dramatic battles and characters that are well-developed and grow over time according to the experiences they have. Sacred Honor sees Hercules and Alamo go off in completely different directions (the crews of both ships think each other has been destroyed in the battle at the end of book 6). Maggie Orlova is now in Command of Hercules and they find themselves at Hydra Station, a Cabal outpost where they begin some hasty repairs before heading back into Confederation space. Meanwhile, Alamo and her crew are also making repairs to their ship and Marshall is trying to come up with a plan that will enable them to get through Cabal territory and back home without having to engage Cabal warships in constant battle. Easy, right? Far from it: Alamo's decks are been haunted by a saboteur (I have to say when the person was revealed I was commpletely gob-smacked because I really liked this character - great job, Mr.Tongue!) and Cooper, one of Alamos last Espatiers is tasked by Marshall to find the saboteur. Meanwhile, Orlova makes some interesting discoveries on the planet Driftwind (Hyra Station orbits this world) and receives help from unexpected places. Of course, no Battlecruiser Alamo book would be complete without a battle or two and the final battle sequence was so well described I was on the edge of my seat - honestly thought Alamo was going to live up to that rather famous battle in the 19th century. Great series and recommended - it is pure entertainment.

First the good: plenty of action, well paced, not overloaded with scientific explanation, characters believable with growth through each episode and some nice little surprises thrown in.
Now the not so good: too much reliance on spell check, not enough on proof reading. All the words are spelled correctly, but they're not always the correct one. It detracts from the storyline sometimes when you have to stop and figure out what was intended. Otherwise I`d give it that 5th star.

For those who like a great story of battles fought and won (barely) this is for you! I enjoy greatly the characters as they develop and the twists and turns of the interlaced story lines! I am also greatly impressed with the quality improvement of the proofing!!! Few computer corrected words to throw off your read. Worth the read and besides its great space opera!

Another excellent addition to the Alamo Series! If you have read my other reviews of the Alamo Series then, you know that I thoroughly enjoy this ongoing story. You will not be disappointed by this book, it lives up to it's predecessors and is very enjoyable and entertaining!

Absolutely first class. Adult, sensible and action packed. In a world of BS space opera, real combat and real politics sets Tongue's Alamo series in a class of its own. Five stars all the way and I'll definitely buy the next one.

Good story, interesting. Lots and lots of word errors either from autocorrect or just didn't know the correct word. Needs to be proofread before reprinted.

Cpt.Marshall meets aliens at last. We learn more about the cabal and follow him through another sequel filled with treachery.
I really like this series and have been reading it for quite some time now. Very much looking forward to the next installment.
This is Star Trek like space opera at its best. More like DS9 than TNG, this series has a very gritty, mature feel.
Don't start with this book though, it is deep in the series and the reader will be hopelessly lost unless you have read the books prior to this one.

I was pleased that this book met and surpassed my expectations. I waited anxiously to find out what happened to the Hercules and Maggie and the crew, I knew she would find a way to survive but I was not sure where they would end up or be lost hyperspace forever.Their arrival at the out of the way space station and the resulting contact with the early but thought extinct people led to a whole new alliance even in the midst of trying to outsmart and outrun the Cabal. To top it all they were able to fix Hercules and outfit her for her last run at the Cabal and showed up just in time to help. ALAMO win the battle, it was exciting and on the edge of your seat engaging and worth waiting for..Looking forward to the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The story Moves swiftly. Honor is not what we think.

Rollicking Space War tale, c/w some realistic Logistics and time-to-build problems and solutions. I cut my reeading teeth on John Carter hardbacks, tales of the Spanish Main, and the Spanish Armada. The realities of distances in space make what happens different, eh?
