About the Author

It is by a strange twist of fate that I am a published author. I was in culinary school doing an essay for the English portion of my AA degree. After finishing the assignment in less than 20 minutes and far faster than any of my classmates, the professor looked at my work, then he asked me a question I will never forget. "How many books have you written?" I remember thinking: I am going to be a chef, why would I write a book? I had forgotten the young boy who used to write ghost stories to scare his grandmother. After several failed attemps at being a chef, I met an author who was giving a lecture at the local library. I remember thinking that would be a cool thing to do. That very night I remembered the words of Professor Wolfson in culinary school: "How many books have you written?" So I sat down at the computer and started what would become Revenge from Mars, my first novel. That was 5 years ago and I haven't looked back since.

So I love a good sci-fi story, but many times I’ll get a little bit lost in the science part—especially if things don’t make perfect sense it’ll go right over my head. That’s not the case with Alien Manifesto by T.W. Embry. He gave me the sci-fi fix I tend to crave but without the headache that usually goes along with it.

Ex. Navy S.E.A.L. Tom Scott is on the wrong side of the law when he suddenly finds himself recruited by an alien intergalactic billionaire named Snarth to join an elite special forces operation. He joins this mixed-species team, their first assignment to steal an alien artifact. This eventually leads them to a planet once ruled by a species called the Ones, (at one time the most feared alien force in all the known universes). With the Ones supposedly now extinct, they go to this planet in search of precious jewels, but find much more than they bargained for, all their lives placed in danger. Sound like a fun ride? You bet, and much more besides.

This is a super-fast-paced story, almost too fast for my personal taste, but sure to keep you on your toes from start to finish. A real page-turner if I ever came across one. I read this in two nights, and it would’ve been one if I hadn’t needed to fit my work in there somewhere. Never once did I feel the urge to skim, and being a writer and editor myself, this is saying a lot. Believe me, if the story lags, even a little, I skim.

So even though I grinned like a little kid through most of it, I give this story four over five stars because I did crave a little more depth from the characters, especially at the start. This is where that fast pace comes into play. By the end of this first story in the series though, I felt I had a good feel for all the characters involved: which included Tom, another human known as the Irishman, a feline assassin, an alien canine, a spider, and Snarth (their billionaire boss).

Here’s the deal. I finished this story and immediately fired up the kindle to go in search of the next one in line by Embry. Should be enough said. Go out and pick up a copy for yourself. You won’t be sorry.

Can a mere mortal live among other species and survive? This is an interesting thought as we meet the primary character of the story Human Thomas Scott who is an ex-Navy Seal and has no ties and no family. So, why not join forces with an elite Special Forces team and their operation. Their goal is to steal an alien artifact but the cast of eclectic characters is huge as mixed species, alien, join forces, work together and create harmony in order to aid their inter-galactic billionaire boss Snarth. Tom is the only human and to be accepted he goes through the training like the rest and becomes a student of two of the aliens that are sworn to protect him. This artifact holds many secrets that emerge and the secrets will send all of these characters and friends into a galactic war that they might not survive. The team gets set to steal the alien artifact sending them to a planet once ruled by those known as Ones. They were at one time feared but now that are extinct and gone. Getting this precious jewel and stealing it is only the first step as there are others who want it for them and will go to any lengths to get it from Snarth. However, an Irishman comes to join the cast so Tom now has another human to bond with added in the feline assassin master, the alien canine who is challenges the feline master and a spider round out some of the interesting characters.
The power of greed, money and the ability to survive battles is at the forefront of this novel filled with combat, trials, tests and most of all loyalty and trust when working in a team to defeat the enemy. As Snarth maps out the plans to take down Ones they train, they discuss and now will have to face off with Sniggle to get the map that will change it all and possibly lead them to the artifact.
Voices switch as we meet the Queen of Ones as she deals out her own form of death and punishment to anyone who dares to know more than she does, finishes stealing their thoughts, feels threatened by them and then will terminate their lives. Benji and Thomi King both fall prey to this queen as they prepare to land their ships trying to correct the flaws that cause them to be in her presence. Using her antennas and even sacrificing those closest and loyal to her she ends lives as fast as it takes to snap you fingers in a second. Hoping to try out his superhuman powers and night vision he joins the team on many missions to capture the culprit who has the stolen artifact. Can all of these aliens including two Earthmen travel through time, many galaxies, deal with the opposition and apply their own brand of justice?
A story about opposition, control, power and dominance of knowledge and the galaxies as the Queen of the ones spares the life of Benji only if he promises to teach her about the technology he knows, building ships and more. But, he is smart yet not cunning enough when trying to outfox this evil queen who claims that anyone that knows more than she does is endangering her and her people but in reality she wants to the on top and the one in control. Knowledge is power and she wants it all.
Added in we hear from Snarth as the mission begins to get the map from Sniggle and somehow their worlds and the Ones will collide as the author explains how the Queen lays eggs that form her people and how they develop to serve her needs.
Preparing for their mission to find the Ones and search their underground home would take days and hours of training and then Snarth getting to the jumping point to find out about the security on the Forbidden planet. Tom was excited to be included and the new technology that Snarth loaded for each member of the team sounds like more technologically advanced than Star Wars or Star Trek members had.
Tom is conflicted about his romance with Tasha a mech or drone when assigned to the Feline Master who he has become attracted in many ways. This is another example of how different races interact and get along as they begin to blend but it might cause problems where he never expected. The mission is coming to pass and Slice is checking his coordinates to make sure that he has the right areas where the Ones would be. We also hear more from the Queen of the Ones as she delegates, berates, threatens and destroys or kills nonbelievers, anyone that disagrees with her or whose mind is stronger and is in need of a slow and painful demise. The battle lines are drawn but who will take the lead and win? The Queen just wants to rule and no one to stand in her way where Snarth want the artifact, wealth and power, which is his primary goal and reason for this war. Peace might come but at whose expense and is this worth the fight?
Things take a different turn as we learn the power of the Queen, hear Snarth as he uncovers banking jewels that he will use to create his own wealth, that of the team and give the rest to the Galactic Council to use for their own purposes. However, not everything goes as planned as we hear the power of the Queen of the Ones, the battles come and go and the death toll is high but is this the end of the Queen of Ones.
A young nymph tries to tell his nest and the Elders that he has found alien ships and realizes that the Queen is about to rise and the power of the Sun will help regain her strength. Not believed he escapes, finds the entrance to the Queen’s chamber and what we see and hear will astound readers as the faith of this young one brings the new Queen to life in a unique way.
When Snarth comes face to face with Slice the interaction creates a great conflict as Snarth is questioned as to why he was accused of collaborating with the Ones and doing what they needed to prevent the destruction of their home world. Differences come to light; opinions are strong on both sides, as information comes to light that both did not know. Why didn’t they deal with cloning females and what about the research that has progressed? How would this conversation affect the outcome of a war that would take many lives? The answers and their responses are yours to learn on pages 133-135. Tempers are high, the tension is strong you could cut it with a knife as the final battles come to light as a new Queen is born and the Elders will either accept her ways or destroy her. Why when she has control does she decide to share it with those in her realm? Why do the Elders think she is weak? What happens when Snarth takes all of the banking jewels brings them back to his castle and learns that there is much more than he expects? What about Human Tom and the Feline master who is related to the Assassin King who wants him eliminated and not mated with his sister? What happens when two realms fall apart and maybe only one will survive?
When Human Tom, The Feline Master, Rowl loyal to Snath, his new mate and Slice join forces with Howler the team increases but so does the power of the New Queen and the power of the Sun. When the final scene is created and those that survive plan their next mission, what Human Tom asks might endanger him and his mate but the final outcome and who will become the victor has yet to be decided? What exactly were those banking jewels and how will they affect a war that will only destroy? Will the Ones win? Will Snarth and his team using their newest weapons finally regain control? The issues of loyalty, understanding, tolerance, respecting differences, revenge, retribution and love come to light as the world needs to renew its faith in people, cultures and hope.
A novel that says a lot to the reader as you go along with Human Tom, Human Irishman and my favorite characters Rowl and Feline Master to find out the final victory of defeat of the Alien Manifesto. Author T.W. Embry gives readers much food for thought in this thought provoking science fiction yet in some respects real life novel. When you read about the differences and discord in the world you might embrace what these character’s messages are to the world. What’s next? Read the sequel: the Earth’s Mirror to find out?
