His Warrior: a Second Chance M/M Romance (J.T's Bar Book 3) Kindle Edition
Will an alpha guy like Si willingly give his heart to Howie for a second chance at love?
Si Raines thought his plans were set for the future. He’d marry his fiancé, the bar-owner Howie Gray, continue with his covert ops career, and when he was ready to retire from that, find a new job and settle down to life together. But a text from Howie throws all the plans into a maelstrom of chaos and hurt, and Si swears he’ll never return to J.T’s Bar again.
Two years later, when an injury ends his covert ops job against his will, he finds himself back at the bar, only to discover Howie is still around, and in danger from a stalker. When Howie begs him for help, Si has to decide if he’s willing to get involved. Apart from doubting whether he can protect anyone with his injury, is he really prepared to be around Howie again? The attraction between them is still electric, and Howie seems willing to explain his behavior. But can Si forgive him?
Faced with the resurrection of old wounds and imminent danger to them both, can Si find it in his heart to rebuild his relationship with Howie and take a second chance on love?
Sue Brown's tense action series where risk and romance are played for high stakes. Passion and danger are always close to home in J.T’s Bar, where alpha men get a second chance at love.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2025Howie Si... We're all fans of Si and Howie. So when things are screwed up in their world and Si is reeling from his last assignment, where else would he go?! J.T.'s, of course! And then all he'll breaks loose... What did you expect? These two sexy men weave around each other in a dance of doubt and desire. Sue Brown ignites the pages in this suspenseful, sexy tale that will keep you turning the pages so night long!😘 I highly recommend reading this series. It'll keep you guessing!😁
- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2020(This is the third book in J.T’s Bar series and I recommend reading them in order to get the full enjoyment of this one).
Si returns to Wyoming after a mission, excited to see Howie. What he gets instead of a reunion is a Dear John text telling him Howie no longer wants to be engaged. Devastated, he leaves and doesn’t come back for over two years. When he does come back he’s out of a job, wounded, and hurting but still in love with Howie. When Howie becomes a target, the whole team stand ready to protect him.
This has been a fun series. A group of men who have became brothers. Their attitudes with each other is funny at times and tender at others. They give strength and love in equal measure.
Si is the alpha in their relationship but he’s so mushy inside when it comes to Howie it’s hard to see him as anything but a cupcake. I liked these guys together. Nice story.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2024Picking up with Si and Howie. Things didn't work out so well with Howie in Virginia while Si was gone on mission. Coming home, all Si got was a text saying it was over. Advance two years, and Si gets hurt and ends back at TJ's bar where Howie is being stocked. And things are still just as hot for each other as before. Of course, the team comes in from time to time, and Si is all about protecting Howie and winning him back as he heals.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2020I would rate this 3 stars.
Si and Howie became a couple in book one, but that was a side story so their romance was never explored. It's mentioned in book two that they've had some issues and now we get to see what they are. Unlike Mitch, Si doesn't leave the team so Howie is having to deal with weeks of separation at a time without knowing where Si is or if he's okay. He doesn't want to move to North Carolina, he's happy in Wyoming. But again, there is no communication here. His mother is also a problem; his family doesn't approve of his being gay and she's here from Ohio. At one point, it's only his aunt and cousins left alive, but then he is supposedly from a big family. He seems to not care what anyone thinks except his mom. In fact, he still dates when his mom is alive, just keeps it out of her face, but I have to assume his aunt or cousins are telling her anyway? Why couldn't he have just done that with Si instead of other men? There is some repetition about how Howie is kind and gentle, not a warrior, but I was frustrated with him not standing up for himself. This plot frustrates me as much as what happened between Jake and Mitch, but two years later, Si and Howie finally get their second chance.
Si is a volatile character, not that he would ever be violent with Howie, but he seems to need calming influences. His friends tend to "manage" him. The dynamic of Mitch and Jake as team leaders, follows into their personal lives as well. I didn't understand the inclusion of Mark, who is ex-agency and now a physical therapist that just happens to be in this small town in Wyoming. When someone has it out for Howie, the team tries to figure out who, and whether someone is trying to kill him or just scare him. Clearly, something needed to happen to set up the next book so that it makes sense for these men to keep doing military type scenarios when they are supposed to be civilians. There also needs to be some sort of connection to the bar, or it wouldn't make sense to be part of the J.T.'s Bar series. Everything is sorted, but I still am not too attached to most of the characters except Mitch, and by extension Jake.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2020The boys are back and we finally get to see sweet Howie and Si get the HEA. But it's not so easy, or so quick. It's the team, of course it's going to be hard. Howie isn't really out to his family, they don't really approve. So when Howie's mom gets sick and comes to live with him, Si gets dumped in the worst way at the worst time. Then lift happens, and Si needs to find a new career, which puts him right back in Howie's orbit.
This is another second chance story, and it's harder to read than book 1's second chance story because there was no big event. No sudden change to their lives to blame or point to. This was just insecurities getting in the way. But when it's love, the strong deep kind, then nothing can really keep you apart, not even years later. I also really liked that this wasn't some crazy murder plot that only happens to elite military groups. The villain in this story can happen to anyone, although how the villain chooses to act at the end is a little extreme for real life. But it's the guys, so it's normal for them.
It's book 3, you liked the first two, so get this one so you can stop guessing about Si and Howie. It also teases another second chance story, so book 4 soon?
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2020The story and characters were five stars, as I have come to expect from Sue Brown. Unfortunately, the lack of editing was distracting. Not only were there numerous grammatical errors, but characters were referred to by the wrong name on multiple occasions.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2022Let's get something straight right away. No one but no one is ever allowed to hurt Howie! Ever! Again! Si, even though this beautiful man has been injured, he is there to protect Howie.
This time there is a lot of changes happening at J.T.'s that you will not want to miss so read on!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2020Howie is half owner of JT’s Bar along with Jake. Si (Simon) Raines is in love with Howie, has been since they first met. So much drama has separated them, leaving both broken hearted. Si gets injured on a mission and ends up back at JT’s to recuperate. Howie has someone messing with him or trying to kill him. Of course Si needs to protect him and find out why.

4.0 out of 5 stars Alpha home
This appears to be the conclusion of the Alpha series with Si and Howie reunited after Howie let his homophobic mother tear them apart however it seems like someone is determined to keep them apart and the team once again band together

3.0 out of 5 stars 3 stars
Really liked Si's character, he's your typical cursing alpha. Howie frustrated me though. A few twists and turns throughout the book. I liked the story but didn't love it. However, I love this author's writing style and will continue to read more from Sue Brown.
