Always Mine: A Contemporary M/M Romance (The Always Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
Conor:
After Ryan passed in a freak car accident, I was devastated. We just got married, and it was hard to believe I was a widower so soon after the ceremony.
But then I met Bryce.
Ryan’s best friend from childhood.
Bryce was tall, commanding, and utterly charismatic.
He comforted me with his strong arms and sweet kisses.
But it’s wrong because my husband just passed away.
What will people say?
Bryce:
Conor’s everything I’ve ever wanted. Tall and handsome, with a sweet smile and genuine heart.
He’s a small town boy with solid values.
The problem is that we found each other the day after his husband died.
It happened fast, but love is what it is.
Now, Conor’s afraid of what people will say in this tiny hamlet.
Will they brand him a slut?
A manwhore?
An opportunist?
Yes, he’s a widower … but it’s my job to make him see that love has no timeline.
Note from JP: Let yourself revel in this emotional love story between two heroes. One finds salvation in the arms of the other while heating up pages and establishing a true connection. HEA guaranteed.

However its not just comfort they find in each other's arms but love. Both know it too soon but can't seem to stop wanting each other. Bryce worries over what other will think of him. - Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2019Great story of love, loss, and the struggle against survivor's guilt. Ryan & Conor get married in their little hometown in front of friends and family, including Bryce, Ryan's best friend from school. Despite doubts and the sparks he feels upon meeting Bryce. Later that day, Ryan is killed in an accident and Bryce steps up to offer Conor support & comfort for his loss. Turns out the sparks go two ways. Follow along as Bryce & Conor travel their rocky road to an HEA.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2019This book was a wonderful read, for the most part. The middle of the plot lagged a bit as Conner and Bryce went back and forth over whether or not to reveal their relationship in Conners' small town so soon after his marriage to and death of his longtime boyfriend, Tyler.
The ending was totally sweet and emotional; very fitting after all these two men had to endure.
I would recommend this book if the reader can withstand the slow midsection of the plot. I gave it 3.50 stars, but I round down as far as actual stars go.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2019This book had promise, the basic premise of the story was intriguing, but some of the details just killed it for me. First, the author needs to do some first hand research on the actual logistics of gay sex. Because as described, OUCH! Use some lube! I get why authors often skip the condoms, even though I don’t agree. In this day and age, a discussion of condom usage is a must, regardless of whether the characters ultimately decide to use them or not. But lube of some kind really is not optional. And then the author needs to do some reading to work on their descriptives for the act itself, the wording is often clunky, unimaginative, and the opposite of sexy. And describing the outcome as "bubbly batter" is just *wrong*. That's gonna put me off pancakes for a while. I suspect that every common euphemism for the male genitalia was used in this book, and I have to say, it wasn't pretty. Pick two or three and stick to them. Using a different one in each sentence is just trying too hard, and makes it hard to stay in the story. When I'm noticing the words more than the story itself, especially during a s*x scene, you're doing something wrong.
And while I like the premise of love at first sight, the entire scene in the hotel room after the reception is wrong on so many levels. Your husband is dead, I only met you today, but I’m gonna kiss you and then f*** you all within minutes. No foreplay, no discussion. No thanks.
Oh, and the repeated assertion that Bryce was just looking for a good man who would cook and clean for him is so outdated. He’s a millionaire, he can pay someone to cook and clean, that’s not a satisfactory basis for a marriage. I get the desire to keep house, and nurture in that way on Conor's part. But for Bryce's part, that's so 1950s.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2019Bryce & Conor met on the day Conor married Ryan. Bryce was Ryan's friend since high school, but left their small Kentucky town when he graduated from high school.
Ryan befriended Conor in elementary school and, as nerdy gays, it was expected that they would marry someday. Conor knew, from the day Ryan proposed, that it was a mistake, but he accepted.
The night they were married Ryan did in a car accident. Bryce consoled his best friend's widower. From the moment their eyes met in the church, they knew that they should have been together. Conor's guilt & embarrassment wouldn't let their love be revealed. Can Bryce and Conor find their HEA?
- Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2019This is a story that shows the good and bad of falling in loving after losing someone. Very sweet, along with sexy. It’s a great book!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2019This was an interesting book. Imagine losing your lifetime loved on your wedding day and even dreading getting married in the first place. Then you find love that same dat. Between the guilt and your new love is enough to make you break down. But losing that love is just as bad or worse than losing your husband.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2019This was an okay story. The blurb did not prepare me for the love affair to begin on the same day Connor was married and his husband died. I understand Connor was not madly in love with his husband and felt forced but a moment to grieve his loss then start a new relationship would have been better. Also Connor is from the town but not once does he spend time with his father who was mentioned as walking him down the isle. It's as if he has no friends or family based on how the story was written no one came to his house to check on him except for his mother-in-law. This story needed a little bit more substance.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bryce and Conor
This is the first book I have read by this author and I think I will read more.
I have enjoyed the story and the characters but.....
Sometimes reading the book I felt I was reading a m/f book. I was a little surprised by some of ‘wants’ from Bryce, he wants someone to cook & clean like a 1950’s husband and he complained that none of his previous boyfriends would do those things for him, but if he’s a millionaire he could afford to pay someone to do those jobs. Also Conor was extremely effeminate in some of his actions and language, but was described as this big broad shouldered strong guy.
A little confusing in places but enjoyable.
