Mystics and Mental Blocks (Amplifier Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 791 ratings

Three days. That was all the reprieve we got before one of the Five showed up, injured and on the run. The snowstorm that had encased the property, as well as stifled the town, hadn’t even melted away. That wounded prey led our newest adversary directly to me, to Christopher. Inconvenient timing, but not unexpected. It was the betrayal forcing me to stay my hand against that adversary that shocked me. Betrayal from the least likely of sources. Or so I would have thought. But that didn’t change who I was, and what I would do to preserve a life I loved, people I cherished. I wasn’t so easily broken. But that didn’t mean I couldn’t be hurt, couldn’t be pulled apart. Unraveled. And if I managed to put the pieces back together? I wasn’t certain who I’d be on the other side of it all. Friend? Lover? Killer? Emma or Amp5? Or was it possible to be all those things at once? ----------------- Mystics and Mental Blocks by Meghan Ciana Doidge is the third book in the Amplifier series, which is set in the Adept Universe along with the Dowser, the Oracle, and the Reconstructionist series. Reading order: • The Amplifier Protocol (Amplifier 0) • Close to Home (Amplifier 0.5) • Demons and DNA (Amplifier 1) • Bonds and Broken Dreams (Amplifier 2) • Mystics and Mental Blocks (Amplifier 3)

5 stars. Riveting as always. The continued story of Emma and her family sucks me right back into this amazing Adept universe MCD is building. The glimpses into the past and hints of the future make me so hungry for the next installment. Emma's growth, both personal and magical, is knitted together with quiet, gentle moments and kickass displays of power and action. What more could you want?! - Kirsten, Amazon USA

5 star.
Enthralling! This book was packed full of action, plot twists and magic! But the part I loved most is the ongoing growth of the characters. They take your heart on a journey through tears, joy and heartbreak. - Diana, Amazon USA

5 star.
*bam* That was one mind blowing ride I just took with Emma. (hehe) More insights into everyone and, well just MORE of all the good stuff. - Brenda, Amazon USA

Amazing! A real page turner! I just finished this book and as usual I was enthralled throughout the entire book - on the edge of my seat! - LCinVT, Amazon USA

Amp 3. It's a darker whirlwind of magic that will catch you this time around ... I took my time with frequent breaks to mute the non-stop action a bit so I could withstand the tense imagery and the threats to characters who seem strangely real to me. Go now. Go read it. - P Chez, Amazon USA

5 stars.
Stunning! I have never resonated and connected with a character as much as I did with Emma in this book. To say this book had me feeling ALL the feels, is an understatement. The fact that Meghan Ciana Doidge can combine extreme stress and tension, sadness, betrayal and heartache, with solidarity, warmth, comfort and unconditional love is a true testament to her story telling gift. This series just keeps getting better and better! - Carmin, Amazon CANADA

5 stars.
A must read! Another amazing instalment in the lived of Emma, Aiden, Christopher, Opal and Paisley! I couldn't put it down. I loved every minute of it. I laughed, I cried. I was angry and sad and happy and pleased! All the emotions! Can't wait for the next book now - KaiR, Amazon UK

5 stars.
Amazing! Complex shenanigans make this an amazing read. You won't want to put it down once you start! Love the new characters and the dimension they add to the story! - David K, Goodreads

The world building, the unexpected twists of the Adept World, the enviable powers yielded by the characters. for me, it is total immersion and total addiction. I have read every book of all of her series' and am always waiting for more. Meghan is one of the few thousand writers I have read over the decades whose books are immediately engaging, suspenseful, filled with fantastic characters and deadly situations. Good almost, well, always wins, but sometimes you just never know.

The scenes are like watching a movie in. your mind, they are described so well.

On another track, as an audiobook narrator, she is one of the treasured few whose books have never, (or I have never found them) had a mistake in grammar, spelling, usage, or punctuation. Those things yank me right out of the book.

Ok, I've gushed enough, but she has joined "my" elite list of authors, among whom are Anna Quindlan, Barbara Kingsolver and a delightful few others.

This is the only author I can honestly say I have read every single book she has written. And loved each one, this one is no different. The adept universe captures you from the beginning, And Meghan has made sure to devote entire books to specific members of the universe, which I adore because you get to know each of the characters on a way deeper level. Emma and Christopher and especially paisley, are among my favorite stories so far. Imagine being created to be a weapon, that is what you are meant to be, and escaping that to build a life, but those involved in your creation all want to either destroy or control you... who do you trust, or worse how can you love anyone, because your love paints targets on those you would kill and die to protect. That is Emma's life, and yet she does find friends and loves, and balances the best she can. And now she is learning that she doesn't have to protect everyone alone. her story has been an emotional roller coaster, that leaves you cheering for her and wanting to be her best friend. I will and have stopped reading any other book when a new adept book comes out, because I am just that invested in the characters. I cannot say enough good things about all of the adept books. Just read them, you will be captured just like me!

Meghan Ciana Doidge is an author that has a highly descriptive writing style that pulls you into stories quickly and doesn't let you go until you finish the book. I have read every book she has written - usually the day after its release. She is an exceptional story teller who never fails to engage the reader. Her books have everything you could ask for - interesting characters, magic, relationships romantic and otherwise, action, and plot twists. My advise would be to read all of her books - Begin at the beginning and go on until you reach the end. Then you will be eagerly awaiting the next addition like me!

I LOVE all of MCD's books but this is by far my favorite series. I love the grittiness. I love how she paints a picture during the action scenes. Im enjoying the character development because it seems as though Emma seems to develop as a person as the books go on, which is interesting. Instead of you just getting a fuller picture of the character, she's becoming more full and less robotic. All part of the story and very enjoyable.

I just finished the third and final book in the amplifier series and I am already missing Emma, Christopher, Aiden, Paisley, and Opal. I want to know what is going to this family later and can't wait to learn more. I hope they will be the focus of a future book. During the past six weeks, I have read all of these books and really enjoyed them all, but sadly I am caught up and will the last book available starting tonight.
I loved this book and it make me tear up.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this author. I have read every single book she has put out and she is on my all time, top 10 author list (I am 66 and an avid reader so that's saying alot)
I do not see how she comes up with the stuff she does. And not one of her books has failed to totally capture me and take me along for the ride.
Just cannot say enough good things.
My recommendation is start at Book 1, Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic and read them all in order. You will love them.
My only con is she cannot write books fast enough to fill my voracious appetite for them.

A heading, what's a heading?. Does it give you a hint of the content? Well dear friends you'll have to find out yourselves. I first read this book in hotel rooms and planes whilst working, and enjoyed it. After a pause of a few years I read Idols and Enemies, then decided to read the series again, at a slower pace and enjoyed it even more. The devil is in the detail, thank you.

I first found this author in July 2019 and enjoyed the Dowser Series, what made these books avid reading is not only they’re well written but the wonderful sensory additions brought the characters to life. My sense of smell, with fruity, spicy, buttery, chocolatey and coffee aromas. Combined with my love of cakes which the Dowser bakes and they’re enjoyed by werewolves and a vampire amongst others who form part of the Adept Universe.
This current book, number 20 (I think) is part of the Amplifier Series. There’s still baking that I’ve enjoyed along with an imaginative and riveting storyline.
Really enjoyed this book, so much so I’ve gone back to book one and the first reading of the Adept Universe was brilliant this second reading is like a warm welcome back to a family kitchen that’s warm with baked cup cakes and chocolate. Single origin Madagascar of course!

You become part of their trials and tribulations, their cheer squad to their weird and wonderful lives. All of MCDs books are vividly written.
