Effrosyni Moschoudi was born and raised in Athens, Greece. As a child, she loved to sit alone in her garden scribbling rhymes about flowers, butterflies and ants. Today, she writes books for the romantic at heart. She lives in a quaint seaside town near Athens with a British husband, two naughty cats, and a staggering amount of books and DVDs. Her little town is heavenly enough, yet her mind forever drifts to her beloved island of Corfu.

The Ebb, her new adult romance that was inspired from her summers in Corfu in the 1980s, is an ABNA Q-Finalist. Her debut novel, The Necklace of Goddess Athena, won a silver medal in the 2017 book awards of Readers' Favorite. Her ghost romance novella, The Boy on the Bridge, was a Top 10 winner in the “50 Best Indie Books” awards of Readfree.ly in 2021.

Effrosyni’s books are sweet romances (low heat and no sex scenes). Running Haunted, My Corfu Love Story, and The Necklace of Goddess Athena are clean & wholesome. All the books are Amazon bestsellers, having hit #1 several times, and are available in kindle and paperback format.

This is another beautiful story from Effrosyni Moschoudi! I have read all of her books and loved them all - including this one! The Amulet had me reading at every opportune moment as I needed to know how everything would work out!

The hallmarks of the author's writing are her vivid descriptions of the environment, her well-developed lovable characters, and her style which just sweeps you along for the journey! She brings magic to life! In her stories, you feel along with the characters as they experience the joys, sorrows, humor, etc! While this is the most light-hearted of her books, it is still a wonderful read that STILL gives you food for thought! This story makes me wish I could see my guardian angel! :)

This is a story that gives you hope... and hoping for that happily ever after! So, what are you waiting for? Grab a copy and read it! You'll be so glad you did!

I was given an ARC, and I am voluntarily and happy to submit an honest review. I will also purchase a couple of copies for friends who need this lovely story in which to escape!

    No, it is not perfect.

The structure was smooth, but moved slower than the story warranted-- with more detail than was needed for the scene in play. Still, that is better than a fast jumble, which is what the "out of this world" to human matchmaking seems to adopt. I admit I hate it when issues are ignored rather than resolved or at least being dealt with, and this time the author managed to (more or less) resolve all of the issues at play.

We have novels where huge alien male warriors only want --uh-- shorter and considerably heavier than the normal "here on this planet" beauty convention. We have vampires and humans, male-female, female-male, male-male, and female-male couples, werewolf-human, witch-non-witch, and so many different versions of the contract paring, but this one was angels and humans, This version of Earth and Heaven was interesting, and I have never really thought about Heaven having a bureaucracy, management goals, and departmental conflicts, but here the author makes it work!

The story works. The characters-- if you give a little slack to them-- the characters work.

It was not perfect, but it was better than "just" four stars, so I went with the five star rating.

Spoiler alert: My favorite character wound up being a girl who died at ten years old but who matured in the afterlife. I have met a couple of people who seem to be remarkably similar to her-- without the dying part.

While the other characters were good, I really liked that character.

Two things make this talented author stand out from the throngs of ambitious indie writers: her deep-seated belief in the healing power of love and her palpable love for her Greek heritage. Just like all of Effrosyni Moschoudi’s books, The Amulet is infused with love, magic, beauty and Greece. But, this time, she also added a healthy dose of humor and quirk to make for an even better read. Although the characters’ road to happiness is not strewn with petal roses, quite the contrary, they are guided by powers unseen to find their inner peace and see their hardships under a different light.

And all that happens on an enchanting Greek island where all senses are equally engaged, not least that of taste.

The Amulet is the story of a young, down-on-her luck girl who finds the perfect love in a too-perfect man who happens to be an angel on earth. How will the angel in his inexperienced human form remain on Earth to give Katie her happily ever after? The answer comes in a heart-rending, wonderful twist that made this book even more special to me.

    Highly recommended.

As I started reading, the story seemed to be 'beginning writer', as if the author was trying too hard. The writing style was a bit too meticulous. but it got better. The editing was perfect, I couldn't catch any mistakes.
This story of the hotel receptionist on a Greek island, and the mysterious helpful stranger who seems to be there whenever help us needed was interesting and original. I did like the little girl Chloe.
Towards the end, the plotline did appear a trifle over-the-top. And I didn't really feel warmth between the two main characters.
A good effort and still better than lots (and lots) of other Kindle books by authors who seem to spend more time designing a cover than paying attention to length or quality of a book.

I have read all of Moschoudi's works, and am impressed by her ability to write in diverse genres, from urban fantasy to romance, and never miss the mark. The Amulet is a light-hearted romance with some serious undertones and a strong paranormal element.

Without revealing much, one of the things I love about Moschoudi's works is her endings; full of hope and salvation even in the direst of circumstances. This is true here as well, somehow managing to offer the kind of closure I'd think impossible.

Another thing that is typically Moschoudi is the Greekness of her stories. Again, this is true here as well, and the brightness of a Greek island summer fills the Amulet's pages. I can't think of a better summer read, especially if you happen to be on one of the afore-mentioned islands.

5.0 out of 5 stars A charming romantic fantasy
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 26, 2017
This is a sweet story that offers readers a few hours of delightful escapism. In fact you’ll very likely want to physically escape to the island of Sifnos long before you’ve finished reading. Having lived in Greece for some years myself, the enchanting atmosphere evoked by Effrosyni Moschoudi had me feeling quite homesick, and longing to return for a visit.
‘The Amulet’ is peopled with colourful, fascinating characters, every one of whom you feel could be the centre of his or her own story. Katie, the centre of this one, is such a nice, kind-hearted person that it’s hardly surprising she’s surrounded by guardian angels. However, it seems even the pure of heart have lessons to learn about themselves and for Katie, life on Sifnos becomes a surprising journey of self-discovery and personal growth. When she falls deeply in love with Aggelos, you worry for her future happiness, since there seems to be no possible happy resolution to the romance.
The writing is generally clear and simplistic, though in some places it waxes poetic, while in others it has a quaintness that I found refreshingly different. It made me want to read more from this author – and not just to immerse myself in the Greek life and culture once again.
You don’t have to believe in angels and miracles to enjoy this charming romantic fantasy. Just read it – you won’t be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Both magical and real! A beautiful read with a clever touch of the supernatural!
Reviewed in the Netherlands on January 20, 2023
A truly magical romantic read - with chapters flowing from one into the next as effortlessly as Aggelos (dis)appears in/from Katie’s life.

The evocative writing makes it easy to conjure up images in your mind of the (mortal) characters, and the idyllic Greek scenery of Sifnos and its contrast with Athens.

You can really feel the shift in energy as Katie moves to the island and starts her new life there including kind people and a very handsome but mysterious love interest.

Although dealing with the supernatural the story also feels very much grounded in real-life experience, such as toxic work environments, the economic crisis, hotel management and (migrant) workers. The author shares background notes on this at the end of the book which is interesting to know.

The many characters are distinct, quirky, lovable and so easy to empathise with, or to also laugh a bit at their expenses.

For me the book strikes the right balance between magic and reality - between lighthearted romance and depth through life lessons - as the whole truth behind the characters and their nature is finally revealed.

Its closing ‘scenes’ and explanations are really satisfying, highly inspiring and they make sense even in the whole picture of Greece.

Usually within this genre of Greek romantic fiction there is a very recognisable formula with similar or same plots, but the Amulet truly stands out. Unique!

Altogether a beautiful authentic romantic adventure with clever touch of the supernatural!

This is not my usual genre so, for me, it is a unique tale of dreams, decisions and destiny. I love books which are set in Greece and the author’s writing style truly brings to life the sights and sounds of the country, painting a perfect picture of the island of Sifnos and its traditional villages. A delightful summer read.

5.0 out of 5 stars How often in life does fate take charge?
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 4, 2017
Mystical, romantic Moschoudi has really stamped her name on the genre she has created with The Amulet and her historical novels. Her heroine, Katie escapes from the drudge of an office job in Athens with a bullying female boss to find that by a single act of kindness she is transported to the idyllic Greek island of Sifnos. Inspite of her initial fear that her new job will turn out to have similar problems to her Athens job it is not long before she realises that fate has indeed been kind to her. Whilst Moschoudi always has written convincingly in her trilogy and fantasies, in this latest novel she demonstrates a maturity that will thrill her readers. To say more might act as a spoiler and with many books this one benefits from not reading a synopsis. But the words of the Abba song "I have a dream" just seem to accompany this lovely book!
