Born in Bradford, but grew up in Blackpool until going to university in Exeter at the age of 18. Ruth trained as a teacher in 2001, but gave it up in 2014 to write full time. Since then she has published a number of books for adults, including the popular Avonstow series and has been published in various anthologies. Ruth is also co-founder and director of the publishing company Castle Priory Press. In November 2021 Ruth was appointed Writer In Residence at Brightlingsea Lido.
