L.J. Sealey was born and raised in a little Welsh town by the sea. It rains a lot, so she often has a great excuse to sit at her writing desk and while away the hours at her laptop.

She still lives in N.Wales and when she's not travelling around the country working with her husband - who is a professional singer - or singing backup vocals herself, she likes to drive around the beautiful Welsh countryside. Some think it's because she enjoys the scenery; others suspect she's hunting dragons. L.J also likes to read and watch her favourite TV shows which normally includes plenty of CSI, The Vampire Diaries and endless amounts of sitcoms. Being addicted to reading about vampires, demons, shifters and angels, she has always had a thing for all things paranormal, and is a big sucker for impossible love stories. So it was inevitable that when she started writing herself she would mix the two together.

L.J. Sealey is the author of the paranormal romance series Divine Hunter.

This is the first book that I have read from this talented author. This book is the first book in the series called The Divine Hunter. After reading this book I am now hooked on this new series. This book takes you on a crazy journey into the unknown and you will love it. This book had me up in the early morning to finish it.

This story starts off with a man named Michael Warden and he had it all. He even had all the women he could ever want. Everything was perfect until his life got taken away from him. He is now in a world with demons that even the devil himself fears. He is on a life mission to find out what happened to him and why it happened. That was his main mission why he got back to earth until he was assigned to a college. This university is having a huge number of student suicides. Michael's job is to find out what is causing them to kill themselves and to destroy whatever is causing this problem on earth. He is a loner until he is greeted by the beautiful Lacy Holloway. Michael feels something for her but he doesn't know what it is. He is fighting his feelings but will he win the battle? Will he find out what happened to him or will he be kept in the dark? Will he destroy a perfect relationship just to keep a women he cares about safe?

Lacy Holloway is finally settling down in the little town of Oakland Garrett in Colorado. She has her dream job working as a professor at a university. She is trying to move on from her past life in a new town. All in all she is happy now with her life. All of a sudden her university is having a huge number a student suicides that makes no sense. She is baffled by the students that are taking their own lives. One day she is introduced to a new colleague at her university. She is instantly attracted Michael. He is handsome and charming to her and they grow a friendship really quickly. Her life feels complete with a new friend in her life until one of the students tries to kill herself and poor Lacy is now dragged into a nightmare she can not wake up from. She is going to find out of somethings that she thought was impossible. Will she fall for this man even harder than she wants to or will she run away because of her past? Will she help her new friend or will the truth be too much for her to handle?

This book put a spell on me. I usually don't read supernatural romances but this book got me hooked. I loved how the author brings you into a different world. She is so descriptive I felt like I was there with the main characters battling demons. They both have their own demons but they will fight them together. You will fall in love with these characters from the very beginning. I can not wait to read the second book to see what happens with their journey.

I give Awaken (Divine Hunter series, book 1) by L.J. Sealey 4 stars.

Michael had it all. CEO of his own successful company, he was doing quite well. His biggest worry was the business conference coming up that he had to travel to. He had plenty of friends and acquaintances. His life was a little hollow maybe, but normal. He liked it like that. But all that was in the past.

He literally died and went to Hell. He is now back on Earth in a different body, with no recollection of how he died, how he escaped Hell, and just vague memories of how is time was spent there. He just remembers the pain. But he believes he was put back on Earth for a reason, although he’s not quite sure why exactly. He doesn’t want to waste the time and freedom he has been given, so he decides to go after the evil monsters preying on the humans. He hopes this will also bring him closer to the answers he has been seeking. His hunting brings him to a university in Maryland where students have been dying of suicide. But there have been too many and Michael doesn’t think it is coincidence. He decides to get into the college as a substitute teacher to be closer to the trouble. That is when he runs into her.

She is a teacher in the same building as he will be teaching in. She shows him around his first day and there is something about her, the British accent, the cute looks, the way she laughs. They seem instantly drawn to each other. Against his better judgement, he spends more and more time with her. But he can’t fall for her. He is a loner and he’s not even human! He can’t love, and doesn’t want to hurt her.

But as he gets deeper into the evil darkness that is spreading around this campus, she ends up in deeper into the danger he is trying to keep her from. Will he be able to defeat the evil surrounding the college? And why is it here in the first place? Can he protect her from harm? And what will become of their relationship? It’s getting harder for him to turn away….

I liked this book. To be completely honest, I struggled with it at first. The story is set in the States, but it is obvious the writer is from another country. There are words and phrases thrown in that aren’t American and I struggled figuring out what was going on. The story seemed a bit forced in the first half of the book, too. But I am glad I continued reading. It really is a good and interesting story. The premise is a good one and the characters are enjoyable. I am very interested in seeing where this story is going and want to see more and more of this series.

    Awaken (Divine hunter series)
    Book 1
    L.J. Sealey
    5 stars

Wow oh wow I wish I could give it more stars!! Debut novel by British author and It was absolutely amazing, filled with that part of suspense, kidnapping and sense of paranormal phenomenon that keeps you on the edge and turning those pages and the chemistry of a romance blooming between two lovely main character that you can't help but fall in love with, especially with their POV’S.
Michael is he dead/alive? Running from a hellish past trying to piece together how he got where he did. Taking on a job as a psychology professor so he can use his set skills as a supernatural hunter he meets the trusting cute Lacey who steals his heart and in the weird way she is exactly what he needs.
Lacy also has a troubled past and thinks she is destined to be a loner. Moving to the states to live with her grandparents and losing her only family members, she has hallucinations that she doesn't know whether to think if what she saw was real or not.
Michaels best friend is hilarious and had me laughing at the conversations between them.
A university suicide pack leads Michael and Evo to investigate as things aren't as clean cut as it seems, they're in for a ride of lives.
This will have some intense and emotional scenes throughout, you do eventually get some answers to Michael's past but it's a cliffy and totally leaves you wanting and getting excited for book 2. Looking forward to seeing both the author and characters grow.

3.0 out of 5 stars Michael Warden had a wonderful life. He was the CEO of a company ...

    3 Stars

This is the first book in the Divine Hunter series. Michael Warden had a wonderful life. He was the CEO of a company that he built, had many friends and an amazing social life. He had it all until he died. Now he hunts demons. In the past ten months he has managed to make it out of hell and kill his fair share of demons. There are a lot of gaps in his memory which frustrates him. He doesn't really remember his time in hell, which is probably a good thing. He doesn't know how he got out and doesn't know why he's stuck roaming the earth instead of ascending. Maybe he needs to find out who killed him?

Lacy Holloway is finally comfortable in her life. She has a few friends and a good job teaching at the university. She's happy with the way things are then Michael walks into her life. He makes her realize that she wants more. He doesn't only bring love into her life, he brings a whole world of nightmares. Things that should only exist in myths or horror stories.

I wasn't sure if this was supposed to be a detective story, a love story or a demon hunter novel. I feel like the author had originally intended for it to be one thing then changed her mind towards the end. I struggled to get through this book. It took too long for something exciting to happen even between Lacy and Michael. The chemistry between them was not strong enough for me to care if something happened or not. Yet when it did, I would recommend an adult audience to read it. The most exciting part of the book happens in the last thirty pages, there was a lot of action. It's too bad I had to wait until the end of the book for it to hold my attention.

4.0 out of 5 stars living a comfortable, normal life- until that was snatched from him
Reviewed in Australia on February 2, 2017
    4 Stars

Awaken is the first book in the Divine Hunter Series and debut novel, by L.J Sealey. It is a paranormal romance- with action, suspense, fantasy, mystery, supernatural elements and drama.
Michael Warden was a successful entrepreneur; living a comfortable, normal life- until that was snatched from him. Finding himself in hell for some unknown reason- he eventually manages to escape. He is determined to find out what happened to him, and so starts off on his quest to discover the truth.
He hears of a University that has had an explosion in the number of unexplained suicides and manages to secure a position there, as a teacher- so he can investigate the matter more fully. It’s there that he befriends a colleague, he is drawn to her, and theirs is an immediately comfortable and easy friendship.
Lacy Holloway has always been a bit of a loner- and felt haunted by her past for a long time, until recently when she finally started to move on and feel more settled in her life. Working at the University has certainly helped with that. When Michael enters her life, she is instantly attracted to the handsome teacher.
When circumstances get a little out of hand, Lacy finds herself drawn into a nightmarish world; it triggers all her tortured memories from the past to bubble to the surface. She has to deal with that, and discovers that Michael is part of this unbelievably hellish situation.
Will Michael be able to keep her safe, while battling the supernatural forces- as well as his intensifying feelings for Lacy? Can he finally admit the depth of his feelings for her? Will they be able to solve the mystery before one of them pays the ultimate price? Can Lacy face her own demons and finally put the past behind her? What will the future hold for these two? What happens if Michael is unable to remain in this world?
This is pretty action packed, with quite a lot of suspense. The concept is quite unique and interesting. I think this series is off to a great start, if the storyline in this book is anything to go by.
The book had some incredibly funny moments and some heart pounding points as well. The author did a great job of infusing quite a lot of emotion, tension and chemistry into the story.
I found that it was a little slow to get going in the beginning and the characters seemed to have a tendency to go off on a tangent with their thought processes, sometimes for pages at a time- this was a little distracting and frustrating, and for me, it detracted from the overall story.
The book ends on somewhat of a cliff-hanger- as in…. ‘to be continued’. So it will be interesting to see what happens in the next book.

    Thank you Ms. Sealey.

A fab story, if not a little complicated at times. Excellent writing though, with interesting and dynamic characters. The love story blended nicely with the main story and I found that really cleverly. Overall a really great beginning to a series. Definitely going to catch the second. :-)
