Fantastic read
This is not a book for grammar nerds or even people who have a good grasp of the language. This is more for beginners and English-as-a-second-language students. Books two and three (coming out soon) will be for more advanced learning. They will cover things in more detail and will deal with more complex issues. This book covers the basics, and only the basics.
Sword of Shadows
If you enjoy remakes of classic stories, you are certain to love this book. "Sword of Shadows" is more than a sci-fi rendition of the tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable, however. It has a deeper meaning about how our lives are destroyed by the gods we let rule our lives--whether it is technology or otherwise.
Although the story is set on Earth almost a couple thousand years in the future, the lives of the people living on the surface are not advanced. Women must wear a veil and marriages are arranged. However, another society beneath the surface of the ocean has managed to embrace technology, in addition to their physical evolution, in order to survive in that environment. It it here, in Avalon, that Arthur grew up, dreaming of escaping to fight battles on the land above, along with his half-brother Kai, to restore humanity by defeating creatures called Nestines.
The tale is well-written, with lovely prose. It captivates you from the first page to the last with its fanciful creatures and adventurous quests with Arthur, Kai, and their "knights." I love anything Arthurian, and this book went well beyond my expectations.
