    ⚡Doctor Rylee Garland is human scientist sent by the government to study the shifters in Bearden. Going to this shifter community is a one in a life time job. The good doctor was going to do her job to the best of her ability. Being assigned a big hunk as a bodyguard was definitely a distraction.
    But when it came to men she was broken and scared. This Major she was assigned to by the government was the worst and she knew he had an ulterior motive but what?
    ⚡Cole Strathorn is a Bear Shifter plus a Fire Fighter in the magical town of Bearden. No one knew where the barrier was or did they? Cole's bear was uncontrollable loving fight at the drop of a hat. This is why I has been told to be a bodyguard to a scientist who smelt like Wildflowers, but the pisser is he was demoted to a babysiiter now. Cole needed to find out if this delicious little bit is a spy or a mate?

    Dangerous Mate is the second book in the Shifting Destinies series by Ms. Lane. Rylee gets the once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to the newly discovered shifter enclave and she’s dying to figure out as much as she can to help out the shifters! But once she arrives, she notices some negative attitudes, and she’s assigned a guard. Cole doesn’t want to be a babysitter, but soon realizes that this human doctor may mean more to him than just a charge to look after. When nefarious plans are put into motion, will Cole and Rylee be able to see if they are mates, or will all of Bearden, including the human doctor, be taken over?

    Oh my gosh, this book was amazing! The plot line keeps the reader engaged and dying to know what will happen next. Once I started this book, I legitimately could not put it down! Rylee is so sweet and so true to her work, and I loved how much Cole helped to open her up and show her the beauty of being part of a relationship again! Cole was just as amazing to read his transformation, and I loved his internal conflict over knowing Rylee was his mate. While there weren’t as many surprises in this book compared to the first, the villain truly was monstrous and the ending almost had me in tears! I highly recommend Ms. Lane to any paranormal romance lover and this book was an amazing addition to an exciting series!

    Rylee is the only researcher that is being allowed into Bearden to study the Shifters but their are evil plans behind the scenes. Cole has been given the job of babysitting Rylee to keep her safe but one sniff and his bear knows she is his mate. But the trouble is still out there and trying to destroy all they know.     This is an excellent and intriguing story; it has so much to offer and was a pure pleasure to read. Apart from Rylee and Cole’s story, which is captivating in itself, there are additional interesting sideline tales that bring the book to life. I always enjoy reading this author’s books and this particular one is no exception. I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending this book.

    Running the research laboratory at Bearden and reporting on the supernatural forces at work is a great honor for Rylee; she has only been inside the Bearden Enclave for a short while and she already loved it. While other laboratories were trying to create new weapons, she worked to keep everyone healthy and whole. There is nothing significantly wrong with Rylee’s life, but something is lacking. Rylee had been assured she would be safe both at the base and off, though she never thought she would feel safe again. Rylee hopes to run her new laboratory without any interference, but her confrontation with Major Delano gives her cause for concern; then his flippant reference to the people of Bearden seals her dislike for the man. Cole’s hostility towards Major Delano earns him the job of babysitting Rylee; he also has to keep a close eye on her while she listens to stories and collects samples to study. It was his eyes that drew Rylee in; they were storms of grey that hinted at a troubled soul, but there is kindness there too and she knew he could keep her safe from her nightmares. Rylee is a mystery to Cole, but she called to and calmed his inner beast; his bear is watching her, but why her, why did she matter so much? When Rylee comes across documents outlining the eradication of Bearden’s supernatural residents, she becomes suspicious; more so when she loses her job and Cole is accused of a crime he didn’t commit, giving Major Delano the justification for his nefarious activities. The entire population of Bearden needs protecting; they didn’t deserve death simply for being different; but this is not the first time supernaturals have been hunted down. When matters escalate out of all proportion, Rylee has to first betray Cole before she can save him, but what of the people of Bearden, is their fate sealed or not?     This was such an exciting read full of action, steam and bad guys you can't help but hate - they're just that 'bad'! I felt the Rylee and Cole's characters made sense for this world, their experiences and the trials placed upon them. They were real and relatable, which made this a totally engrossing read. Sweet hot romance, gripping action and a ton of danger made it a one-set read for me and has me anxious for more in this series. Well done, Ms. Lane!
