About the authors
Michael Anderle (ok, weird talking about myself in the 3rd person) (1967-Hopefully a long time from NOW) was born in Houston, Tx. A very curious child, he got into trouble - a lot. What to do with an inquisitive mind when he was grounded? Read!
Ok, done with all of that 3rd person stuff.
In the first 20 years, I mostly read Science Fiction and Fantasy. In the last 10 years I have enjoyed Urban Fantasy and Military Fiction. With this background, I've been blessed with creating The Kurtherian Gambit series, a well-selling, and fan loved, collection of stories.
The fans have propelled these stories beyond my wildest imagination and they should get all of the credit for sharing with friends, family and occasionally the random person on the street. They are fantastic!
Craig is a million-selling author of science fiction (post-apocalyptic, military sci-fi, and space opera), thrillers, and non-fiction.
Craig retired from the Marine Corps after a long career in the military intelligence community, having worked with most of the U.S. Government's three-letter agencies. After a short stint with physical security, Craig went to law school, graduated summa cum laude, and went into business consulting. From intelligence, to the inner workings of company board rooms, to on-the-ground leadership, Craig has seen it firsthand.
His books are an extension of his experience, putting the trials and tribulations of a fast-paced world into your hands. Whether in Science Fiction, Thrillers, Fantasy, or even his Non-Fiction, you'll find consistent themes of justice and doing right by those who are counting on their leaders. Leadership is a service, not a crown to lord over others.
No matter where Craig went, he always had a book with him. Thanks to 21st Century technology, He now has thousands of books at his fingertips and with him wherever he goes. How many books would he have read on deployments had he not had to carry a physical book?
No one is encumbered like that now. Craig loves the works of Robert Heinlein, Anne McCaffrey, Andre Norton, JRR Tolkien, Robert E. Howard, and so many more. He has been compared to Andre Norton and that is humbling - she was an incredible author with a huge list of novels to her credit. With every new book, Craig aspires to live up to those that you, the readers, have compared him to.
Through a bizarre series of events, Craig ended up in Fairbanks, Alaska. He never expected to retire to a place where golf courses are only open for four months out of the year. But that's the way it is. It is off the beaten path. He and his wife get to watch the northern lights from their driveway. Their dog has lots of room to run, just until temperatures reach fifty below zero. They have from three and a half hours of daylight in the winter to twenty-four hours in the summer.
It’s all part of the give and take of life. If they didn’t have those extremes, then everyone would live in the sub-arctic.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2018The first three Bad Company books were relentless adventures where the action revved up almost without slowing down. Love them.
Book 4, Liberation, has a vastly different pace. People get some R&R--which they sorely need. The revolving door gets busy with some character changes. Other story lines intersect briefly; it was fun to run into Rivka and also Ghost Squadron. The universe grows and the universe shrinks, often at the same time. There was a lot of humor in all those interchanges. It made the characters stronger and the ensuing action more real. Considering their virtual foe that was quite a trick.
I must say whoever dreamed up a snowstorm as part of this book was on some kind of creative mountain. Loved it.
Can't wait to read number 5.
I read this book through the Kindle Unlimited program, for which I pay a fee every month, and through which authors receive compensation. Seems like that should count as a "verified purchase." Just sayin'.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2018Always love the action and adventures with TH and Char. But the humor in this one was especially good. The characters already developed in this series and the Nomad series before it are so well developed that it's amazing how much they continue to grow. I really enjoyed reading about the trip back to Earth along with Terry and Char's vacation. Can't wait to read the next book.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2018What more can I add to the title of my review?
It felt like it was too short. Looking back at the word count, I have to assume that it's only because I want more!
This was a departure from the usual AoE books in that most of the book detailed life and character development instead of being mostly action.
The action was well done, as usual. The character development was extensive and impressive. We saw Ted become more than the autistic genius plot device and become a person. Having two autistic nephews, I truly appreciated that.
Well done Craig, and thank you.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2023The ever expanding cast of alien characters holds your interest and keeps you focused on who is who! Loved he reverse take on the Home World humans with the roles of he two sexes. Setup a lot of potential opportunities for the main female characters to keep the male characters both confused and at their mercy! Love the way this storyline just continues to move forward!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2018I enjoy all of the various lines in the KGU but Bad Company's ensemble cast is unique - so many species working to the same ends. There are almost too many plotlines happening in this one and I had to pay closer attention than usual; but that's ok with me. Slight spoiler alert: not everything gets resolved by the end but there are no horrible cliffhangers either. Plenty of humor and the action is so intense I actually put it down so I could catch my breath. Looking forward to the next!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2024Bad Company has lots of new faces in the team.Goes thru training them to up to Terry's requirements. At the end they have a new fleet plus new team mates.
Good story, they beat the evil AI.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2018Another awesome book by Craig Martelle and Magic Mike., At least this one ended on a positive note! And speaking of the "good old days", I WAS the remote control, having to get up and change the channel for my parents. I can still hear my father yell, "Not so fast! You'll strip it!". For the younglings, the user to have knobs. Yes, KNOBS! If you clicked them through the channels too quickly, you WOULD strip it(make the channels unable to change). Thanks for a great book. You guys are some of my favorite authors!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book can keep you up all night!
It's fun to read, the characters are likeable (some not) and realistic. It's not a story of happy endings and it does end with a not so subtle "to be continued" but if you like serial novels, where the stories flow from one book to another you'll love this book. It's imaginative, creative, funny, and makes you beg for the next installment.
