Be Fairy Game (Starfig Investigation Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 674 ratings

They’re baaacckk!

When a simple ‘find & fetch’ case throws private investigator
Twig Starfig and newly-minted wizard, Quinn Broomsparkle, into the middle of an EBI murder investigation, it’s just another day in the Elder Realm.

If murder were Twig’s only problem, he’d be the luckiest half-dragon in the land. Murder he can handle. Fulfilling his promise to his scheming, power-hungry father to run for a seat on Lighthelm’s city council? Meh, he’d rather face a demon with a toothache.

On top of their case going sideways, and Twig running for a council seat he really doesn’t want, Twig and Quinn are forced to face some unpleasant realities about their budding romance, while still learning how to handle the wizard-familiar bond they now share. Throw in a red fury with abysmal taste in boyfriends, a ghost pirate-parrot who drinks too much, a murderer who will stop at nothing to get what they want, a host of new friends and enemies, and you’ve got a situation where no one is safe and everyone is Fairy Game.

Mischief, Magic, and Murder . . . That's a Maslow!

If you're looking for comedy, fantasy, or dead bodies in your romances (sometimes all three at once!), I'm your gal. I'm also a. . . gasp!. . . extroverted writer. It seems counterintuitive that as someone who is energized by people, I spend most of my time alone. Yet, that's the case. And I don't mind.

Mostly.

If I get writer's block or start to go a little stir crazy, I head out to a coffee shop, a restaurant, a friend's place--anywhere to fill up my need for human contact. It also helps that I spend a lot of time with the voices in my head. Some of them are really quite opinionated.

I love writing gay romance because I'm a sap for a happy ending, and I believe everyone—regardless of orientation—should be able to find books that have them. And if that romance comes with a dash of mischief, magic, or murder, all the better.

I believe that life is for living, kindness is contagious, and a good book makes the world a better place.

Loving this Starfig Investigations series! So much fun to read filled with awesome characters, incredible world-building and terrific writing. I so enjoyed seeing Twig and Quinn on another adventure. They are building their relationship and working on their dynamics. Truly an epic romance that will touch your heart.

This is book two in this wonderful series and it really must be read in order, this is not a stand-alone.

Looking forward to more Starfig Investigations.

This was a three and a half stars for me although this author is amazing. Her brain is incredible and I find myself shaking my head at the scenes she comes up with. This book, like the first, was slow getting started and I even considered skipping to the last couple of chapters just to finish it. I'm glad I didn't because the author's magic finally grabbed me and took me on a wild ride.

That said, there were a few things that gave me pause. Unfortunately one of those things was Twig and Quinn's relationship. They each didn't seem as invested as you would think they should be. Quinn was caught up in his new powers and trying to overcome his past and was like a two year old saying "no mommy I can do it myself". Twig was trying to keep everybody safe and cope with his horrible father and abandonment by his mother. Thank goodness for the other characters such as Bill, Pie and Cookie (a great addition by the way). Also, I hated the whole thing in the sex club. I would have been happy for that to be left out completely. Which brings up the seemingly over abundance of things that happened. I felt the book was too long as the second half went much faster than the first half. There were a couple of other things I could mention like why did they not take the cute six headed dog home with them, they took everyone else, even all the tribbles. The thing that got to me the most (and in the first book also) was Twig's horrible father. I am so over him. I detest him so much I'm considering not finishing the series. This kind of stupid, cruel, demeaning and dishonest politics is how the real world is now and was in 2018 when this book was written. I don't want to read about it in a fantasy escape book. Because I really like this author, I'm going to take a break from this series and read the first book from her second series, Charm City Chronicles.

I just love, love, love, love this series and this book. The author manages to perfectly blend the romance, humor, action and the sexy times into one awesome whole. The character's living in this book quickly become good friends and are perfectly imperfect. Story wise, the author did an excellent job of maintaining the suspense and mystery throughout the entire book. I cannot wait till book three is finished and I get to spend some more quality time visiting this world and its people once again!

This is a wonderful story! Both Quinn and Twig are perfect for each other. There was so much going on in this book that I really had to pay attention, which is saying something. I didn’t want to miss any of it. Totally worth the time! Highly recommended

First, I purchased the bok and added this book on audible ( so I listened to it) and Greg Boudreaux does an excellent job. I love the character names in this series and they only get better as you meet new friends. Each character has such a personality, thery're so charming! The case they are working on doesn't go as planned. Now they'll have to rely on old friend and new friends to help along the way. I can't wait to see what comes next with a dragon, wizard, demon and ghost parrot and new cast of friends in book 3!

I fell in love with this rag tag crew in the first book and this book just made me fall harder. The snark and hystrionics along with the true love and care Twig and Quinn share is a wonderful base and adding in the the rest of the clan just makes a a world I'd love to move to. Since I can't live there, I'll be going back for frequent visits. I really can't wait for the next adventure.

I was a fan of the first book and preordered this one when i discovered that it was going to be released. I don't regret that decision at all. This book was just as fun as the first one was, and was just as enjoyable from beginning to end. I have already been reassured by the author that the audiobook version is being made so I am happily anticipating it and the third book.

I am really enjoying this series and this second was as good as the first if not better.

I really love Quinn and Twig. Their relationship is complex and has its ups and downs, and I found particularly true.

I loved the side characters, especially Bill, they are all amazing and so funny. All flawed but wonderful.

The story itself was very interesting and quite intricate and simple at the same time :-)
It took us in a few different directions and I really enjoyed how they all concluded.

I can't wait for the next book to be here so I can see what happens to all these wonderful characters

5.0 out of 5 stars Loving this series!

I'm loving this series! My favourite aspect is definitely the worldbuilding. I love how unique and how well developed it is. The humour that flows throughout isn't overpowering, but still has me smiling and laughing at the characters antics. I also love the serious side - how Twig's protective instincts drive him to want to protect Quinn and Bill, and how they don't let him get away with that. The storyline progressed well, and we got to see some resolution for Twig with his maternal family. I'm looking forward to the next book where we'll see them head to the human realm to confront Quinn's past. Great series - would definitely recommend.
