- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2018BRIDE BY CHISTMAS is a sexy standalone read with a VHEA. It is a part of a series but you will not be lost if you read it first. Other members of the family that already have their story in print are in this book but each is explained well enough that you will know them.
In the plane crash heading back from Vegas all the friends were effected one way or the other. Libby suffered physical pains as well as emotional ones. Her boyfriend at the time was killed. He was not a well liked member of the group but still his death was felt by each one. It was assumed that he and Libby were headed towards a future so everyone felt her pain. Little did they know what was really going on. It has been a couple of months after the crash and Libby wants to unburden herself but she cannot tell her biggest secret. Everyone assumed she was grieving the lose of her love and lover and offered words of comfort in accordance.
Her good friend, a family member of her best friends, a local cop and the true object of her affections, Elliot is the one person she confides in. Keeping her secret and then telling her one of his own the two become more than best friends. Their love story is a good one, you are right in the same room with these two. It is SEXY as heck but you will be glad because Elliot has waiting a long time to get Libby in his bed and he is one great lover!!! You can't help but love this hero. He has the patience of Job and he loves Libby to distraction, being willing to do whatever it takes to win her heart., Little does he know!!
I loved this story. I sat down to read and didn't get up until I finished. You just can't wait for the next thing to happen. It is a great read, loved how the series ended and can't wait for the next one to start. I definitely recommend this book as well as the whole series. Since all the books are in print, I would recommend starting with the first to get the complete story. Lots about New Zealand as usual. Great read, don't miss it.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothin more, nothing less. 12/9/18
- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2018Can a promise made long ago still be held to happen? We have all made one of those promises at some point that if we are unmarried by 30, we will marry each other. But how many have us held the other person to that person? Not many but Libby and Elliot made one of those promises long ago and both are nearing thirty and find themselves alone. Can this old promise hold up to the test of time?
Libby and Elliot have known each other for years. But both had been in committed relationships so ignored that little spark that seemed to flare up whenever they were near each other.
Things have changed though. Libby was already feeling like her relationship with her long time partner, Mike, was fading away. And then they were involved in a plane accident on their way back from Las Vegas with a group of friends. Libby suffers serious injuries to her leg but Mike is killed in the accident. Libby finds herself in an awkward position as she recovers in that she is treated as if she was a widow by those in town who know her.
Elliot has always had a soft spot for Libby but never acted on it. After the plane accident where he survived with minor injuries, Elliot breaks his long term relationship off. But he is afraid to act on his desire and longing for Libby. He wants to make sure that she isn’t grieving Mike.
Can this sweet, tough, sexy police officer break down his own personal emotional walls and act on his feelings for Libby? And can Libby allow herself to love the person who has always had a special place in her heart? Can Libby allow herself to ignore what others might and follow her heart?
Obviously since this is a romance novel, we all know the answer is yes to all of these questions. But the real fun is the twists and turns along the way to this happy ending.
Having read most of what Ms. Woods has written, I have to say that this is among one of my favorites she has written. I cannot put a finger on why this book is my favorite but it simply is.
I did receive an advance reader copy of this novel from the author in exchange for a fair unbiased review. As soon as I see that Ms. Woods has a new release available to pre-order on Amazon, I immediately click on the pre-order button. So I do admit to a slight bias in that I like her writing and characters. But I am always honest in my reviews and if there was anything negative, I have no issues stating them.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2024Wow what a ride! Betrayal and grief seem to cause all sorts of issues. But I loved that real love is what's worth waiting for.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2023After basically being there for each other all their lives, Elliot and Libby finally get together. Sort of. After never being able to connect during their adult lives, they finally acknowledge their feelings for each other. Except they can't tell anyone yet, because...it is complicated. Definitely worth reading the book to the very end, not only to enjoy their hard fought HEA, but a bit of a wrapup/recap of all the couples in this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2018Bride By Christmas is Libby and Elliot's story. I've been looking forward to their story since it became obvious they cared about each other. This is a friends to lovers story but there are some unique obstacles for them to overcome on their way to HEA. Libby is such a kind-hearted, sweet woman who wants to be with Elliot but she is afraid of hurting others and what people will think of her for being with him so soon after Mike's death. Elliot is an honorable man and definitely swoon-worthy. He is so patient and understanding of Libby's feelings. They are perfect for each other.
My only complaint about the book is it is the last one in the series. I will miss the Goldsmith's and their significant others. This series has brought me many hours of enjoyment. I urge you to read the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great ending to a great series
Aw, loved Elliot & Libby’s story, was gunning for them all the way.
I know I have said this in previous reviews but I would recommend reading all 6 books in order. They are not to long which is something I like, and all the characters from previous books appear in each book, so reading them all means you really get to know the characters. The last book tells you a bit more about where all the characters are. Also the characters are all related so knowing them all gives you a real feel good feeling. But if you just want a quick read without the other books then you still can read this as a standalone.
Serenity is very good at setting the scenes for her stories and this was no different. The story came to life and you get a real feeling for all the emotions played out in this story.
Great story, believable characters, just the right amount of angst and a sweet HEA ❤️

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the wait.
The last in the Series, Elliot and Libby, so worth the wait. You need to read them all in order to enjoy them the most. Loved how this book overlapped the previous one, without the Author doing the annoying thing of totally recapping the previous book, Serenity did it a very clever and enjoyable way. Sad to have finished this series, loved how as always there were mentions to previous book characters or appearances.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read
I'll be reading the others in the series, having enjoyed this as it is a cleverly told story with plenty of emotion. I have come to expect good stories and characters from the author. I cared about the main characters and appreciated the supporting ones.
