When you’re starting your life over again, you go back to what you know. For me, that’s Denver. I thought I’d left this city behind, convinced I was on to bigger and better things. One second, one wrong step, and everything came crashing down. People pretend to rally around me, but it’s all fake as hell.

That’s why I signed up to do the stranger session. I needed to shake things up, do something new and maybe meet a pretty face at the same time.

I wasn’t expecting to turn around and see someone I recognized. We might have gone to high school together, but we’re still strangers. Then and now. How do I show a girl who knew my reputation back then I’m a different person now?

I’m finally free of what I used to be. It’s a great feeling. I’m exactly who I want to be, who I knew I always was, but I had to fight hard to leave the nerdy bookworm behind. I’m finally the butterfly and I want to show it to the world. That’s why getting a free photography session was right up my alley; the fact that it would be with a stranger didn’t faze me at all.

I wish I’d turned around and saw a stranger. I might not know him, but I remember him. He was that guy in school. You know the one.

He says he’s changed. He says a lot of things. Does he really think I’m his? Can you fall in love with someone so easily? It feels real. The best way to test it, I guess, is to go back to where it all began.

If you like alpha heroes and an insta-love story that is sweet but isn’t necessarily simple, then this is for you. No cheating with a guaranteed HEA. My Stranger Shoot Series are novellas that take place within the Denver Family world but is not part of the main timeline. Each book can be read as a standalone. Don’t be surprised to see characters from the Denver Family, other than Ellie, pop in.

    I grabbed this novella because of the amazing cover, and I wasn't disappointed. A quick read with a HEA, but with the great character development and satisfying narrative it feels like a full meal. I was entranced from the time they turn around at the photoshoot and see each other. The hero is possessive in all the best ways, but he also is considerate of the heroine at all times. I really enjoyed this story. It was my first book by Ember Davis but it won't be my last!

    I love an instalove story!! And Ember Davis is quickly becoming one of my fave instalove authors of 2022.
    This novella caught my eye because of the synopsis and that the characters knew each other from high school. And the chemistry between Lucas and Alina right away was scorching hot!     This was the best one yet in the Stranger Shoot series! Alina didn't love high school, it was torture. Always the loner, the nerdy girl, the outcast. She left that all behind her. Her life is great and if she never has to see someone from high school again, that would suit her perfectly. Lucas is back where he started. After achieving his dream of playing in the NFL, an injury off the field leaves him abandoned, jobless and in pain. So he moves back to Denver and starts over. When they both get picked for the stranger shoot, the excitement is palpable. Little did they know it wouldn't be a stranger they meet. These two are perfection! They are so wonderfully matched and I adored them. I cannot adequately express how much joy Ember Davis brings me when I read her books. She is a gem! Ten stars for Blast From the Past!

    I simply cannot say enough about this beautifully written second chances story by Ember Davis! Alina is happy in herself but still holds some fears left over from high school.     The world that Lucas knew is over but at rock bottom he signs up for a stranger shoot and find the woman for him in Alina, a girl he went to high school with when he was only this surface personality. It isn't until Alina he truly feels he can be himself in this wonderful read.

    I loved that these two are picked for the stranger shoot , yet they aren't really strangers. I think these two were amazing together and I loved the chemistry that they have. Another great story!
