Cannon: Dark College Bully Romance (Brothers of Hawthorne Hall Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 2,783 ratings

Shattered trust, twisted games, and ugly truths …

A female initiate is unheard of at Hawthorne Hall, but after forcing the brotherhood’s hand, they had no choice but to let me stay. My plan should have been simple: Find out what happened to my cousin and best friend in the world, Will.

But nothing is as it seems.

This brotherhood is steeped in tradition and built on loyalty, but the deeper I dig, the more I see fissures in their supposedly tight-knit group. And with the evidence I’ve found, every move I make seems more dangerous than the last. I no longer know who to trust.

Cannon.
Archer.
Kingston.

I don’t want to believe they’re guilty or that they could have harmed Will. But there’s only one way to find out—immerse myself in their world and keep my mouth shut. And hope they don’t break my heart along the way.

The games continue … but who is being played?

Cannon is gearing up to be a 95,000+ word novel, the second in a trilogy, centering around three men and one woman—MMFM.

WARNING: This trilogy contains dark elements, graphic content, and situations that some readers may be particularly sensitive to. If you have triggers or are even remotely unsure, please check my website, which you can access through my author page, for a full list.

Cannon shot to my heart ❤️
4.5 ⭐️ Steam: 4/5. Strong Language: 3/5. Characters: 5/5. Plot: 4.5 Triggers: Mental Health, Bu!!ying, V!olence, A$$ault Cannon is the second book in the Brothers of Hawthorne Hall series. You must read book one, Kingston, to fully enjoy this novel. This story ends on a significant ends on a cliffhanger. It’s so good though, you won’t want to miss it. Our story picks up right where Kingston left off. Elliot is left reeling. She’s just shared what she thought was an emotional connection with Kingston, Cannon, and Archer but makes a discovery that has her questioning everything she thinks she knows about them. She walks a fine line between predator and prey throughout this series. Her instincts seem spot on but when she feels most secure, she’s thrown for an even bigger loop. Kingston, the stalwart leader, Archer, the charismatic nurturer, and Cannon, the quiet & intense, protector all come to feel more for Elliot than they had ever anticipated. In doing so, they become closer as a brotherhood. Much, much closer. Forces from both within and without seek to drive a wedge between them and rip Elliot from their grasp. The guys are fiercely loyal and defend their girl with everything have. This book is a wonderful addition to the series. A pure delight of dark deliciousness.

I can’t belive I’m giving 5 stars to a book with the term “spunk bunker” in it. 🤦

    Leila. Why??

That aside, these cliffhangers dude. My heart can’t take it.

This book was a lot of fun for something so tense. Oof. I loved watching the boys get progressively softer with Elliot and, consequently, with each other.

I’d been told beforehand there would be MM in this relationship, but I genuinely waffled on exactly who would be participating in it until just before the reveal. Not because it came out of left field, but because the bond between these boys is so well written.

The villains are still mustache twirly, Tag is an underappreciated lovebug, Dane is finally stepping into his foreshadowing, and I am feral to start the next book and see how all this gets resolved!

Mind that cliff y’all! I prayed that this book would be better than the first, and it so is. Still not a lot of depth to the characters, but the plot got a nice little boost.

This book picks up where the last scene in the first book left off. There are shenanigans people! All of the shenanigans you could want, with behind the scenes backstabbing and other machinations. We have all the verbal jabs you would expect, for the reasons you’d expect, and it just makes every little bit of my dark loving heart get all gooey.

We see the OTT possessiveness come out in full force. Kingston and Cannon of course, but we see a little of it from Archer too. There are brothers and initiates put in their place, and some glorious action happens that will have you fit pumping the air for the justice doled out.

There is some exceptional steam in this book, but a warning to you readers that don’t like m/m in their books. This one isn’t for you. Good times are had by all in various ways and I was fanning myself aplenty!

I cannot wait to read how this all plays out! Bring on Archer baby!

This book continues where the the first, Kingston, left off. FMC,, Elliott struggles with her increasing feelings for the seniors. Kingston, Cannon, and Archer are becoming more obsessed and protective. Elliott reveals the threatening notes she has been receiving. The guys know about her ex's threats. This story reflects on today's society. The shame associated with being different physically and/or emotionally. Homophobic and misogynistic themes are present. There are also themes of feeling safe, acceptance, and respect.
This is Cannon and Elliott's story. Her relationship continues with all three men. Canon's secrets and struggles are slowly revealed. The spice is HOT. there are some interesting twists in this story line. Chapter 24 is all I will say.
I love Elliott's attitude when she is on her game. The way she interacts with each MMC is sassy yet sweet. She can give as good as she gets.
What I found disturbing is timing. Everything that has taken place so far has happened in just three weeks. It just feels off. The plot, finding out what happened to Will, is soft. I am curious. This is not what drives the story. The developing relationships and the MC's secrets are the drive. This book ends in a major cliffhanger.
Overall I am enjoying this series. I am invested in these protagonists. I am curious as to what happened to Will. I want to know how this all will resolve. I recommend this book to all that enjoy a steamy why choose.

Wow what a read, their just isn't any words to explain what a very intense dark bully read. Their are so many twists and turns that throw you for a loop. This was a fast pace on the edge of your seat, page turning story. This is a secret Society that still playing games and no girls a loud. So much raunchy stuff that will have your kitty in goo. This is a steamy story of Cannon and his relationship that forms with Elliot. This show his strength and passion for his friends and this witty lady that walked in to his secret society. Elliot has found something of her missing friend in Kingston room and Elliot is trying to put together what happened in the disappearance of Will, their are little crumbs left throughout to piece together. still wanting to prove she can do anything men can, she continues to move forward no many how many times she gets bullied as she is trying to find out what happened to her friend Will. This has friendship changes and cause a exciting relationship between the friends to become more hotter. This dropped in a huge explosion cliffhanger and can't wait for the next book.

Cannon (Book 2of the Brothers of Hawthorne series) by Leila James

    4/5 ⭐️
    4/5 🌶️

    1 ⭐️ taken for the word …. F0lds

I really enjoyed the character development in this book. Finally the plot was thickening and as new characters were introduced so were new plot points.

It was not only 🌶️ but beautiful to watch the relationships between not only the FMC with the MMC’s develop but to also see the relationships between the MMC’s develop.

I will say this, it was nice to also see the original reason for this story start to take form. I was taken back by how the plot of the story in the first book gets lost with all the 🌶️ but in this story it is worked in so perfectly with the 🌶️ that it is no longer a touchy point for me.

I enjoyed learning more about the brotherhood as well as how some of these men truly feel about the FMC. It has kept me on my toes trying to figure out the answer to the question “What happened to Will”, and honestly this suspense is crazy!

Ahhh I need more. Leila James you are incredible. I am throughly addicted to these characters and the twist with Kingston, and Archer I just loved. Cannon is still my favorite and his relationship with Elliott is cemented when a little about his past is revealed. I have no idea where this story will go next and for me that shows to the talent of the author. Usually book two tapers of and isn’t as good as the first but damn was this good. Eagerly awaiting book 3. Must read series.

I was literally counting down the days until I got to read Cannon because I connected with his character the most in the previous story.

This book starts off right where it left off and continues in the same past faced motion that left me devouring this read in a day.

Elliott understood that she would get a lot of flack for joining but I don’t think she was expecting that much push back or abuse from her peers. Her journey continues as she continues her search for her cousin and little discoveries has her questioning everything.

I love as the story progresses, we get so much so much character development. While we get more details about Cannon, we learn more about Kingston and Archer. Everyone about their relationship is just so natural and you see how they start to adapt themselves to what Elliott needs as well.

Also she brings the spice in this book😮‍💨 After what goes down in this book.. my mind is racing with what she can cook up in Archer.

While some gets answered, new questions are made and that cliffhanger.. oh man that cliffhanger.. I need book 3 asap.

There are some triggers so please check the warnings prior to starting this series.

I enjoyed this second book in the ‘Brothers of Hawthorne Hall’ just as much as the first. From the developing relationships to the ongoing plot, it kept me intrigued and excited to continue reading at every step; never wanting to put it down.

"You are ours. No one touches you without our permission. No one tries to harm you without facing consequences. No one. Got it?"

I couldn’t get enough of Kingston, Cannon, Archer and Elliot. I love each of them, especially with their growing and changing dynamics. Each of the characters had great character development in this book, especially Kingston. And I loved finding out more of Cannon’s backstory, too. As well as the dynamic change between Kingston and Archer. Iykyk hehe 🤭

Overall, another enjoyable book in the series, with a great cliffhanger…

The second book is just as good as the first you get to know the characters better and so does Elle really well like hot well Cannon is such a great character I fell in love with him, Elle still has her problems with some of the residents of Hawthorn Hall and she has to fight for her place there but her romance with Kingston,Cannon and Archer is going well but the cliffhanger is a nail biter
