“I was recommended this book by a friend as I am very loyal to Freya North & Lisa Jewell... I'm a bit of chick lit fan!!! By the end of the first chapter I was completely gripped...This is a really compulsive read and not easy to put down.” Reader review, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Harriet’s crazily successful business idea is under serious threat, and the problem seems to be coming from inside her own family. She whisks her sister away to an exotic island to try and work out whose side she is on. It’s time to start damage limitation.
When the girls arrive at the glorious villa owned by Harriet’s maverick business partner Nikki, they find a gorgeous band and their sexy lead singer Max staying next door, out to entice their new neighbours into all kinds of mischief.
This isn’t a holiday for Harriet and she can’t afford to be distracted. She has to sell her business idea to the powerful resort owner, the elusive Mr Grant, while she is there, or she may not have a business to go back to. The problem is that Mr Grant wants Harriet AND her business and he isn't impressed about her fledgling friendship with troublemaker, Max!
Harriet will have to choose between love and passion, business or pleasure. For a shy girl who stays out of the limelight, even though her new company is the hottest ticket in town, she’s going to have to avoid the front pages of every newspaper if she wants to survive the ride!
“Pure escapism! A real hoot all the way through and very entertaining.” Reader review, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“If sexy, well-written romances with sultry, feisty ladies, smouldering Alpha males and writing that had oodles of attitude and flair are your thing, then pop this one in your suitcase/kindle then lay back with something long and cool close to hand and the time will just fly by in the most entertaining way possible.” Reader review, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Full of sunny days, beautiful dynamic people and hot locations. Intrigue and gossip a go-go! A fun packed, gossip filled story.” Reader review, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

- Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2015Fun characters, great plot and a little bit for everyone. The cast of characters are well written and offer a little respite from the hum-drum of daily life. Trying to save her business, engaging with her friends and acquaintances and getting through life while being a beautiful woman who is underestimated becomes the theme. I couldn't wait to turn to the next page to see what would happen next.
Enjoyable book and I'm looking forward to more from Lizzie Chantree.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2015This was a really good story and I enjoyed the quirky, fun characters.
Lots of angst, misunderstandings, crazy family members and friends, love interests to be jealous of, people with their own agendas and a fun story line.
I really liked Max and Harriet, our main character!!! I loved the amazing villa they stayed in next to the rock band. I wish I could have been there to be next to the hot guys!
I wanted to be there to slap Alex, Lucy and Helen multiple times throughout the story for Harriet. I liked Mai and a few other characters. Ben I had mixed feelings about but he was pretty rotten to his own cousin and had an agenda. Wish Nikki was there more in person!
Lots of characters to keep straight but the author did a good job of character development.
A couple pieces of hopefully constructive criticism:
1) The POV switched back and forth in the same section or paragraph throughout the book. It happened between multiple characters in the same section and at times in the same paragraph. Correcting this would help with the flow of the story. I often got confused who was talking or thinking at the moment. Typically there is one POV in a section or even a whole chapter.
2) Additionally, the show don't tell concept could be applied. Example: "Ben was completely astounded by what she was saying." could instead read "Ben's jaw dropped to the floor as he continued to listen to Harriet's demands."
Overall rating: 3.5 stars
- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2021I have mixed feelings about this story. I enjoyed the babe driven drama that was unfolding, and a few surprises along the way. The concept was different and fun to read. However, the story didn't really take off until about a third of the way through. There were way to many adults acting like whiny, pubescent teens to make me take an interest in any of them. I'm glad I did continue reading until the end, though.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2018I found the story to be an attention-grabber. The pace was great, anticipation building. This is a 5 star book. It delivered in terms of holding my attention, and I fell in love with the lead character, Harriet. Her character was developed and very strong. And it came to the right kind of ending.
I have to admit that the story was quite edgy and stylish and I loved that about the characters, the rustics and the fast pace. It was like going on a thrill ride.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2017A fun, flirty and breezy romance, Babe Driven is pure escapism for fans of romance and HEAs. Harriet (Harry) is a strong woman and entrepreneur who has built a trendy chauffer business that is ripe for expansion—and for take-over. While looking for an investor to help her company grow, she has to juggle romantic interests, blackmail attempts, family issues and a week-long vacation that results in multiple complications.
The characters are likable, making it easy to for the reader to invest in their circumstances. Even the secondary characters are given thorough attention with strong plot lines. The omniscient POV is a bit clunky in places, but the fun of this novel makes that easy to forgive. I enjoyed the wrap-up of the multiple plot lines at the end and applaud the author for coming up with such a ingenious idea for her main character’s business. Definitely a fun beach read!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2016I thoroughly enjoyed reading Babe Driven with a strong and fun cast of characters. Each one presented with their own set of problems to overcome. It may be their misconceptions of those around them, either friend or foe, to the realization of those who love them for who they are. You follow the strong personalities on their journey of enlightenment of those they love, even when they're deeply flawed. They all grow in some way. Some may come to see others as they truly are and some may see themselves as others see them, whether good or bad. But they all grow and learn along the way.
I recommend this book to readers who love well-defined characters, mystery, romance, and humor.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2019This story could have been so much better. I still can't work out where the funny part of the story was! All the characters with dubious intentions thought out loud about all the things they had intended right at the start of the story when their characters were introduced could have been written so much better making it a better story of suspence keeping you wondering what they were up to. The only character in the story I really liked was Max.
I was sort of glad when the story ended.
This was a first read of a story by this author & I'm not tempted to read more.
I received an ARC for an honest review
- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2015The author spends too much time focusing on the outer appearance, which slightly diminishes the fine workings of the inner story. Overall the romantic shenanigans are cute, but they could be elevated to something more and with more substance. I would give it 3,5 stars if I could.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous!
This is a fabulously fun story about a strong independent business woman, supported by an extremely colourful cast of secondary characters. The book is wonderfully paced with the perfect balance between lighthearted moments and more serious ones. Within the pages of this book you'll find everything from friendship, romance, deceit, ambition and success, all woven into a wonderfully entertaining tale. This is the third Lizzie Chantree book I've read and it certainly won't be my last.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beneath the bubbles and froth lies a labyrinthine veiled mystery.
I have now read all of Lizzie Chantree’s books and loved every one of them. They all seem to have uncommon and fascinating plots leading the reader in so many direction whilst being captivated by the study in the personalities of the characters and their relationships. This book is no exception:
Harriet has built a successful business and it needs to expand but the offers of funding come with conditions, some obvious and some downright devious. Is Harriet a match for the front runner, Ben Grant? She thinks she is, but…
With the offer of a luxury villa in an exclusive sun drenched resort owned by the Ben Grant, she takes her sister and some of her friends for a week’s holiday. It is not as generous as it sounds as someone has been sabotaging Harriet’s business and she could narrow this down to this pool of friends or maybe their spurious associates, even her sister. And then there is her jealous step-brother, left back in London to create havoc.
In the next door villa is a famous pop group: cue lasciviousness, lust and love from both groups of the beau monde. In the meantime Harriet lays mantraps, red herrings, and a trail of bait, but she is not immune to the leader of the band, or indeed the Funder (everyone is gorgeous).
What follows is an Agatha Christie like mystery but with no bodies, unless you count the youthful easy on the eyes, ladies and hunks of men. There are veils and layers of subterfuge to satisfy anyone and it all leads to the final pages before we know how things will pan out, by which time you have sweated buckets and become thoroughly engaged.
Yes, it is frothy. Yes, it is sort of contrived, but it works on so many levels and I loved it. Highly recommended along with all of Chantree’s other books – 5 stars

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun fast read, full of vibrant characters with lots of hidden agendas. 3.5 stars
A fun fast read, full of vibrant characters with lots of hidden agendas.
I did find the constant view point changes in rapid succession a bit confusing but even so, it was still a fun read and worth a look when you're in the mood for that "chick flick" kind of book.
Lots of editing issues, (not just typos but structure & grammar as well) particularly from about the middle of the book onward, brought my rating down from what would have been a 4 for the story itself, to a 3.5. That said, I did enjoy the story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Babe Driven
A party of young women arrive at a villa for a foreign holiday. Next door is another villa occupied by a boy band, nine in number when the retainers are included. So the reader meets an unusually large number of new characters right from the start and has to keep her wits about her. The need for vigilance is increased by the fact that the gender of some of these characters isn’t immediately clear from their names – Harry, Alex, Nikki.
Given the large numbers of young people in close proximity chatting up occurs, lust ensues, and some of it leads to action. The author describes this well and readers of romance will not be disappointed.
'Harriet wriggled ineffectively, quite enjoying the warmth of his arms around her. ‘I’m supposed to be angry with you.’ Before she could protest any further he had swooped down and captured her lips in a kiss that made her gasp in pleasure and surprise as heat flooded her body and made her step back, her hands on his naked chest.'
One aspect of all this is a large amount of misinformation – the spreading of false stories about who was in what bedroom with whom the night before, or what people are supposedly saying behind each others’ backs.
Given the number of times her narrative obliges her deal with romantic encounters, Lizzie Chantree manages to ring the changes remarkably well. But there is more to the book this. There is a great deal of scheming going on, largely to do with Harriet’s business, Babe Driven.
'The business offered a chauffeur service in fast and flashy cars with drop dead gorgeous drivers, for astronomical fees.'
This strand of the story is very well handled. How the business operates is given in some detail, some of which a lesser writer would not have included. It has been well thought out. For example, two of the rooms at head office are for the use of the babes who do the driving. One is a changing area well supplied with uniforms and shoes. The second?
'The second back room held televisions and couches for relaxation whilst waiting for client details and a small kitchen area where the staff could fix themselves something to eat.'
This may seem a small detail, but for me it helps to make the business real. And what is going on with the business? A relative, Seb, is engaged in a blackmail attempt against her, using one of her drivers who has not realised what he is really like. And a contact of her business partner, Nikki, while interested in investing in Babe Driven, actually wants to take it over. So Harriet has a fight on her hands on two fronts – and that isn’t including the romantic one. Fortunately she is well equipped by character and temperament to take these people on.
As if this was not enough, Harriet has to sort out her relationship with her sister Alex, and figure out who the man in her life actually is – out of a cast of three! This is a lot to be doing while working to save your business.
Babe Driven is a good read. For this reader, the flesh is all very well but what gives it a backbone is the business intrigue, which the author reveals to us bit by bit as the book progresses.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun read!
At face value I suppose this book seems like a perfect, light romance read for females, which wouldn't be my typical read but the book came recommended and it was indeed great fun! I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the characters. The main character Harriet is a clever businesswoman as well as beautiful and constantly underestimated by friends and business partners, which I really enjoyed.
The setting for the story is all glitz and glamour as Harriet takes her sister and sister's friends to a fabulous villa, where next door a famous music band is staying and we have a cocktail for romance, jealousy, deception and humour.
I thought the story was clever with its twists and turns as characters were revealed to be very human with a mixture of good and bad traits.
I filled a few fun hours reading this book. I suppose part of me would have liked to meet and party with some of the girls, which is testimony to how the author made them seem real.
All in all a good read with a satisfying ending.
