4.6 out of 5 stars 1,356 ratings

"If you're a fan of Kristen Ashley, then you will love this book." -- Aestas Book Blog on Four Letter Word

He didn't want to be bad. He just didn't have a choice...

Shayla Perkins isn't the kind of girl who makes the same mistake twice, especially when it comes to Sean "Stitch" Molina. So when he gives her the world's biggest rejection, that's it--she's done. Until the sexy, silent, unavailable Sean makes Shay a very personal offer. Of course, it still doesn't mean he's interested in her. Or does it?

Sean has done things in life. Bad things. And he's paid the price. All he wants now is to make up for his past by doing good in the present. And no one deserves more good than Shay. Beautiful on the inside and out, Shay is the kind of woman who should be cared for and protected--especially from a man like Sean. He's tried to keep his feelings for her in check, but a single, reckless impulse pulls them closer than ever before.

Soon the two are sharing their biggest dreams and satisfying their deepest desires. But what will happen if the only way to truly give each other what they want most...is to let each other go?

"The perfect mix of funny, hot and heartwarming. I enjoyed it immensely!" -- Mia Sheridan,
New York Times bestselling author, on Four Letter Word

Bad for You is unputdownable and unforgettable.
Bad for You is the third installment in J. Daniels Dirty Deeds series. It reads as a complete standalone with just a few appearances from other Dirty Deeds characters. Although it can be read perfectly fine by itself, I absolutely recommend reading Four Letter Word and Hit the Spot ahead of time. “He didn't feel worthy. And he was absolutely worthy. Not just of me, but of everything good this world had to offer him. Of love. Of Kindness. And I was going to make sure he knew that for good.” Bad for You is a perfect opposites attract romance. I'd call it friends to lovers, but it was more one-sided in that regard. Shay (or Shayla you'll get it when you read it) is determined to get to know Sean "Stitch" Molina. He's the quiet cook at Whitecaps where she's a waitress. She talks and he listens, at least she hopes he's listening. Once Sean starts opening up to Shayla, she realizes that he's got so many demons in his head and she'll stop at nothing to rid them for him. “I didn't need to be a people person. I was still a Sean person.” Sean deems himself worthless. "I'm nothing to nobody." He's at Whitecaps to get his life back on track to make up for lost time in his past with his family. He's always had a thing for Shayla, but as he sees it, she's too good for him. When she breaks down his walls however, it's a beautiful sight to behold. “I'm so f$&!n' sick of bein' nothin', Shayla.” Hands down, this is J. Daniels most emotional and versatile work to date. Bad for You pulls out all the stops. J.'s signature romantic comedy is absolutely present but a few pages down you may find yourself crying (I cried and I'm not ashamed of it). Sean's story is just so heartbreaking and hopeful and the way Shayla swoops in to save him is really just...special. That's what this book is, special. It's no secret that J. Daniels is one of my absolute favorite authors, and I always try to read her words completely unbiased, but once again, she nails it on every single level. This book is more than romance. It's a sweet slow burn with a fantastic ensemble of characters that will make you turn the page until you've realized you've read it in one sitting. Bad for You is unputdownable and unforgettable.

I’ve been a fan of J. Daniels since I picked up her first book, Sweet Addiction. I knew then and there that I was reading an author with an innate storyteller’s talent. I have since read every single word she’s written, and while I’ve loved them all, none have affected me in quite the same way that Bad For You has. Daniels definitely has a natural way with words, wielding them into these epic, all-consuming and grand love stories, that is addicting for a reader. For me, curling up with her work is an absolute pleasure, but more than that, a new release from J Daniels is a much-anticipated, planned-around experience for this romance reader.

I love the Dirty Deeds series, and I’ve been anxiously awaiting Stitch’s story since we met him in Four Letter Word, the first book in the series. There’s just something about a damaged hero that really does it for me, and Stitch was so broken that his story was almost overwhelmingly painful. I honestly cannot recall the last time I cried like this while reading a book—I cried big, loud, hiccupping sobs while reading this book. As each devastating piece of Sean’s history was revealed, I felt the crushing blow of that knowledge as if I was there hearing it for the first time right along with Shayla.

Daniels created the perfect counterpart to Stitch in Shayla. This heroine was strong and fierce and the ideal mate for this wounded, beautiful man. I loved her generous spirit, her sense of humor, her resilience, but most of all, I loved her passion. I felt everything this character went through—her rage as she learned each of Sean’s secrets, her unconditional love for him, and her resolve to give this man everything, even at the expense of her own heart. Shayla’s unwavering determination to fix those wrongs, to heal those wounds, to love this man no matter what made her precisely what he needed. She did this naturally, with devotion and, occasionally, with some well-timed humor.

It’s not unusual that I experience whatever emotion an author intends a reader to feel, but there was just so much to feel in this story. Bad For You was loaded with so many emotions—deep, staggering ones that brought me to my knees, the sweet relief of hope and possibilities, the wit of an alpha male’s dry sarcasm, and the surge of long-denied passion. Daniels did a remarkable job not only conveying all of these feelings, but taking the reader right there, into the moment with the characters. This is, without question, Daniels’ best writing to date, and that’s really saying something since all of it has been pretty fantastic.

Bad For You may not have been a light and breezy, easy-to-read romcom, but it was a deeply moving, heart-breaking story richly told with depth, genuine emotion and passion. As difficult as it was at times, it was worth every single step of the gut-wrenching journey these characters had to take to find this kind of love. My own emotions were all over the place while reading this book, a true testament to the power of Daniels’ amazing writing here. Shayla and Stitch’s love story is destined to become one that readers will cite as one of the all-time great romances. It was not only a truly memorable reading experience for me, but also one that will stay with me for a long time to come. If I could, I’d give Bad For You by J. Daniels all the stars, but since I can’t, five—and this unmistakable rave—will have to do.

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS - 4 1/2 stars, wonderful story, a pretty sad story sometimes but it is filled with hope and love! Sean is the Whitecaps cook & used to listen to Shayla talk on & on, until he decided he wasn't good enough for her & he has to force her to drop this fascination with him. But when he sees her crying in her car after failing to take care of her two brothers, he instantly steps in. Sean is a broken man who has been given a second chance to clean up his act - a great job & a new house that desperately needs work. "You never had a chance. You were born into hate. Children are supposed to be born into love. It's unconditional, and you never had that." Shayla is on a mission to drown Sean in love, even to the point of bringing him back together with his ex-wife and his two beautiful daughters. She is even willing to give Sean his family back even if it breaks her heart. She is selfless & sweet, doing anything to make Sean happy. It is really a slow burn, it takes quite a while before Sean will give in to his physical attraction for her. "I had gone most of my life without someone touching me like this. I had gone all my life wanting it." What he loves the most about Shayla is being hers, having Shayla at his back sticking up for him, being there when he's terrified from nightmares of his past. He loves hearing her voice building him up time & again with her cute, quirky personality. Dark themes for poor Sean but a very happy ending!

“This man had a stare unlike any stare. Equal parts intense and intimidating.”

“Rejection was one of the worst pains one could ever feel. Scars healed. Bruises went away. Rejection was lasting. It was a memory you could conjure up at any time and hurt from, over and over again. It never left you.”

Wow! What a way to kick off 2018 than with a book that totally knocks your socks off! I never saw this book coming. Not for one single minute. It snuck up on me and grabbed me from the very first page. I was completely, 100% consumed with Sean and Shay’s story. My eyes were glued to the pages and I didn’t want to put this book down……

Bad For You is incredibly well written and is a beautiful second chance romance. This story is one of redemption and it will steal your breath away. As I’m sitting here, trying to type up this review, I am at a total loss. I have no words. I am speechless in the most amazing way…..

From the moment I met Sean, I was dying to know more about him. He was quiet, hard, and didn’t let anyone get close or in. But, I just knew there had to more to this man than meets the eye and boy was I not wrong. Sean’s life has been anything but easy. He has lived through and done things that no one ever should have. This is the kind of man that upon meeting, you just want to protect him with everything you have and bring a smile to his face. He is not perfect, but his motives came from a good place. This man with his tough exterior had the biggest heart. He pulled at my heartstrings and just made me ache. Ache for the life he had. Ache for all that he lost. Ache for all he should have. And Shay was the light Sean desperately needed in his life. Shay is full of life and love. She is hard-working, devoted and will fiercely protect those who are in her life. Shay is definitely the kind of woman you’d want taking your back. She sees the good in everyone and when she meets Sean, she can’t possibly stay away.

I love, love, loved the slow build between Shay and Sean. Their feelings and interactions were so real and and genuine. They didn’t jump into a relationship straight away. They got to know one another. They built the foundation. There was no rushing it. They waited until just the right moment, and then all bets were off. These two together were just magic. They got each other in a way that no one else could possibly understand. Their chemistry was scorching and the pull….UGH!! I just couldn’t get enough. I loved watching their story unfold and seeing them handle all the hurdles along the way.

Bad for You was an amazing read from beginning to end. It stole my heart and turned my world upside down. From sad moments, to funny ones, to moments that had you bursting with joy and swooning so hard, you thought your heart was just going to burst out of your chest; this book had it all. This book was so much more than I ever expected and is a story that will remain with me for a long time to come.

Loved this book. Honestly I knew I would love it from the moment I one clicked. J. Daniels was an author I was introduced to by someone in a group I belonged too. I have devoured all her books and they are all amazing and I have reread many to date. Her latest novel is just as amazing if not better!
It is the story of Stitch and Shayla who I believe are one of the best book couples to date. I would definitely recommend this book not only because you will experience all the feels but because it allows the reader to experience what it truly means to love someone regardless of their past and the way they are brought up. Thank you Mrs. Daniels for this great read!!!

I've read all of Js books, really liked all if them. This series is no exception. However this book about Shay and Sean, I can't do this justice. I won't go on and on about the plot, if you've read the others you'll have a rough idea what's going on. What I will do is gush about how amazing it is. Shay is up there with my favourite females, strong, funny, loyal and so in love with Sean its heart wrenching, totally unaware that Sean loves her too. Because of his past though( an awful heartbreaking childhood) he thinks he's not worthy of good in his life. Their story is so emotional, but also leaves you feeling pulled apart and slowly put back together. All the side characters add so much too and play a huge part in showing how wonderful these two people are. Loved it, loved it, loved it. My favourite this year, I know its only January... Wish Nate and Jenna story wasn't such long wait though, it'll be worth it though.

Sometimes fate can force you to make some bad choices, even if it means that your life will never be the same again. But you still doing those bad choices because someone means more than anything for you. Sean Mollina deserves to be loved and appreciated. His strength left me speakless. To fall down a thousand times and find a reason to get up is not that easy. To have nothing, to be nothing and still fighting against your biggest enemy-yourself & your past, that must prove how strong you are.
And in the dark there will always be a star to shine only for you. And his star is called Sayla. That girl is fabulous. She keeps fighting for him, she defense him, helps him to kick his demons to believe in himself, to believe in love.
I highly recommend Bad for you. I can give you a hundred reasons why you will love this story, but I'm sure there will always be another one to love Sean & Sayla even more.
