Bambi's Alien Abduction (Earth Girl's Guide to Surviving an Alien Abduction Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 88 ratings

I’ve been abducted by Amish aliens, and hand to God, I’m so over it.

Don’t get me wrong. Their leader is super hot despite his likely shared ancestry with Godzilla. But he’s all about sexing me up and implanting his eggs in my you know where. And yes, I said eggs.

If that’s not bad enough, my besties have been abducted, too, but by entirely different aliens and are on an entirely different planet. I’ve got to get out of here and pull off some heroic sh*t ASAP.

Only problem, outside of the whole “I don’t know how to fly a spaceship” thing?

I may have gotten a little carried away while playing “just the tip” with my hot alien abductor. And now…well…if I could update my social media status I’d be going from single & ready to mingle, to it’s WAY complicated.

I have to say that my reading tastes are very eclectic - I enjoy almost everything and anything except biographies and history. I read probably 2 to 3 books a day, when I am not reading for my work. So, when I say that this was one of the funniest books I have read in a while that is saying a lot. I so rarely actually outright laugh while reading, and my husband asked me what was so funny several times the day I read this book.

Yes, there are editing problems, I always find some. However, it was minimal compared to the positives that this book provides. The world building and characters were extremely well done, the plot was well done, the sections from the main female character's point of view as well as the main male character's POV was spot-on, the characters stayed in character, and tension (both internal and external) kept the story moving forward. Well done!

Aubrey Cara writes in a wide range of styles from this light and fun story to some fairly naughty BDSM stuff so unless you like a wide range of material be careful to get the style you like. Luckily, she provides a guide to let you know which are in what category so you won't end up with the wrong thing - a nice touch.

Aubrey Cara, author of the Monrok series, has brought us the first book of a new series. Like the Monrok books, Bambi is a scifi romance. Unlike those books, it's a much more light-hearted book. It's very humorous, and I spent a lot of time laughing as I read it. It does take place in the same world as the Monrok books.

The last thing that Bambi recalls is hanging out in France with her friends, Brooklyn and Briana. The next thing she knows, she's in an alien bazaar being sold to another alien to be his breeder. The Zapex have taken her and friends from earth because humans are compatible with a number of aliens.

Oathar is the Yon Tor of his planet, Alogoria. Before his father died, leaving him the leader, Oathar's father advised him to get outside breeders to come in and up the population of his people. The way that breeding works right now, his people only get the chance to breed every 30 years, and with more and more of his people choosing to live off world, the population is dwindling. Since humans are compatible with Alogorians, Oathar decided to get one. That's how he gets Bambi.

This story is a lot of fun. It's interesting to see Bambi try to settle into a new place where she has no clue of the rules, of the society, or of what's expected to her. She manages to find a place while starting to change everything around her. I also really liked seeing how Oathar changed because of Bambi. She really helped push him to be a better leader and a better man. One of the really fun bits is that each chapter head has a tip from Bambi or Oathar.

I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series, and to see how and where this may intersect with the Monrok books, other than just having random Monrok show up.

I received an ARC for this book and you are receiving my voluntary and honest review.

I loved this book! I'm excited to read book 2 & 3. I loved the characters, plot, adventures, drama, the laughs and the beginning of a long and prosperous mating. To the author keep up the great work, but I'm not a very patient person so try to hurry your excellency on. ;)

This was my first book from this author but it won't be my last! A book club member told me about this book and I bought it the same day. It has all the great things you expect from a scifi alien abduction book (good plot, good writing and interesting characters) but it is also really, really funny!

It took me a while to get into this book. I started reading then went to something else three different times. I have read all the Monrok books and loved them. I thought maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this book the first time I put it down. But now that I finished it I realized that I just didn't care for Bambi that much. She seemed like she might have had a rough past but she acted like a spoiled brat in my opinion.(Other people seemed to liked her from the reviews). The further I got into the story the better it got. Her personality seemed to get a little better as I read. She still wanted things her way at the end but she seemed to be able to compromise for her safety.
Oathar is the leader of the planet. His people are going extinct because their breeding partners only go into heat once every thirty years along with people leaving the planet to explore. He purchased three human females but only got one . He wants them for breeding purposes. But .....he starts to get feelings for Bambi and doesn't want to pass her on to anyone else.
There is trouble brewing on the planet involving the Zapex and Monrok. Oathar's son from a previous cycle is around twenty and is also causing problems.
It was a decent read once I got past the beginning. I will be reading the next one. Hopefully the next heroine is better.

I have really enjoyed this book. Hard to find a good alien story that's not just about sex and happily ever after. This one has that but with a good story too.
