About the author

I live by the sea in Plymouth, England, with my partner Dave. I like reading, sailing, and exploring in our camper van. I love getting up early to watch the sunrise in summer, and long quiet evenings by the wood burner in our cabin on the cliffs in Cornwall in winter.
I write traditional Regency romance novels that respect the mores of the era. I like to think my characters, though flawed, are likeable, strong, and true to the period.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2022Looking forward to the next in this series. I took off a star due to the random and excessive sprinkling of commas. I suggest the author delete all commas, study The Elements of Style by Strunk and White, and add back only those required for clarity.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2021A heartwarming well written story with great characters and plot. Enjoyed reading this authors work she brought the scenes to life. Clean romance, I have read several books from this author and enjoy her style and have not been disappointed.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2021I enjoyed this book, although some grammatical errors were not edited. Also, while I thoroughly enjoyed the use of the English language of that period, a glaring use of “funning” a modern American expression, jumped out at me as a totally unacceptable word to be used in this book. It is not a British expression, and is of recent N .American origin.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2022Another bachelor meets his love. She was there all the time it just took a few years and a bit of jealousy over two of her potential suitors to have him realize it

4.0 out of 5 stars High praise for Regency refinement
Very smooth and enjoyable. Elegant turns of phrase and creditably reserved emotions. Some moments of unbridled passion and heated controversy might have added spice.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great story set in a beautiful time
Jenny Hambly’s characters feel like friends from another life. The way of life, the beautiful estates, much loved animals and tenant farms, not to mention gowns and jewels of the day all help to paint a vivid picture of this period in our history. The social mores and values are the foundation of our own society today and the issues these families faced not too different to those we struggle with. I loved this story woven in and through the lives of these good people

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely lively romance, don’t judge a book by its cover!
A lovely romance, full of character and just enough detail to make it matter. I enjoyed too seeing the relationship develop between Selena and her step mama and sister. Kisses only and right at the finish so if you like a clean romance this is for you.
Charles I had met before in previous books and felt his self doubt this time around added to his charm.
Love the book but NOT the cover! This is not my mental image of Charles !
