Queer fiction author Roe Horvat was born in former Czechoslovakia. Equipped with a dark sense of sarcasm, Roe traveled Europe and finally settled in Sweden. He came out as transgender in 2017 and has been fabulous since. He loves Jane Austen, Douglas Adams, bad action movies, stand-up comedy, and pale ale. When not hiding in the studio doing graphics, he can be found trolling cafés in Gothenburg, writing, and people-watching.

    This is another story in my top-10 list of Roe’s books. All his stories are great, but I love this one in particular.
    Joakim deserves a good partner, but his fame and fortune make it hard to find someone who loves him for himself, not for what others can take from him.
    Roe weaves a beautiful love story here, and like in all of the stories in Those Other Books, the beautiful settings in Sweden are just as much a charming character as the men she writes about.

    It is amazing when a writer creates a story that seems so absolute possible. This book reads like someone talking about their day and it just so happens that the day is filled with another person they are deeply in love with. In general I don’t care to read books with long explicit sex scenes in them. They tend to be shallow get off kinds of literature. The scenes in this story seem so real, so full of passion so caring. I really enjoyed the book and will read other books by the author because of it.

    The writing was exquisite. I haven’t read a Roe Horvat novel yet where I wasn’t blown away by the style of writing or the precision of it. Roe’s ability to write with such vivid imagery has always made it easy for me to fall into the stories.

    My reasoning for 3.5 is more personal. Nothing wrong with the story, writing or characters it was just more so a contemporary style M/M and I was personally wanting just a tad more angst or some climatic event. It was more so a meet someone, fall in love and live happily ever after. I like a little bit of resistance in my reading or some edge of the seat moment. Again, that’s just me.

    I really enjoyed this book. Joakim and Kevin were obviously made for each other, I loved Jaokim's protectiveness and the way he cared for Kevin. Also, there's plenty of sex, it was good to read about two lonely guys finding one another, and Kevin being able to give free reign to his true self. A story of finding love, passion and self discovery. Very well written, as is usually the case from this author.
