Beauty and the Bayou (Boys of the Bayou Book 3): A wounded hero romantic comedy Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,786 ratings

A sexy small town, wounded hero rom com!

Sawyer Landry knows he’s been beastly to be around for the past few months. But he can’t seem to remember how to be fun-loving and friendly.

Until he sees Juliet Dawson on his boat dock… and realizes that hip waders are, apparently, one of his turn-ons.

But despite the beauty in the boots, the last thing he needs right now is a city girl in his way for the next two weeks. But he’s not really getting a vote.

Juliet is determined that her little brother rebuild the dock he and his idiot friends smashed. She’s quirky, klutzy, independent…and possibly an even bigger pessimist than Sawyer is.

He’s incredibly drawn to the cynical fish-out-of-water, who seems to be the one person who isn’t intimidated by his growling.

The big, gruff boat captain is the first person in a long time to want to watch out for her and Juliet finds that hotter than his grandma’s jambalaya. Well, that and his sexy scar, his emotional baggage, and the sense of humor and fun that is buried deep.

But Sawyer doesn’t need any more people to worry about long-term and the things that make him feel protective of Juliet aren’t going to go away.

So, this two-week adventure can’t be anything more than a fling. With Juliet down on the bayou, there’s an even bigger threat than alligators and hurricanes. There’s the very good chance of someone ending up with a broken heart.

My favorite... so far

My favorite... so far
As soon as Juliet was introduced at the end of the last book, I could not wait to listen to this one. This is my favorite of the series so far. I absolutely adored Sawyer and Juliet. I also laughed so much listening to this one I had tears in my eyes. Sawyer and Juliet had a lot in common and were a great fit for each other. Juliet has a lot of fears related to an accident when she was young as does Sawyer from the circumstances of the death of his best friend. Their “What if?” And “yeah, but…” scenarios were hilarious. Interestingly while it sometimes spiraled to the ridiculous – they seemed to know when to reign the other in. I loved that these two got to spend a lot of time together really getting to know each other. Definitely an HFN as the book ends just a few weeks after they meet – yet it’s easy to see they’ll be awesome together. While I’m looking forward to Chase getting his own book, I’m so excited to dive into Kennedy & Bennett’s book next, Crazy Rich Cajuns. Narration: While I would have liked a little more southern drawl like the first book – I really enjoyed Gregory Salinas and Ramona Master’s narration. Salinas as Sawyer and Master as Juliet were perfect casting. They were both a great fit for their characters’ personalities and kept everything smooth and consistent. Such a delightful listen.

BEAUTY AND THE BAYOU is a standalone read with a HEA. It is SEXY as heck if that is an issue for you. But oh my, this hero is something else. I think this is my favorite so far of all the Louisiana boys. I LOVE Sawyer, he is a breathtaking hero. Big, gorgeous, smart, sexy, and on and on. He has got it all going on. OH and he is beyond terrific in bed! Oh my, had to turn the a/c up.

Now to the story. This is Sawyer's story. Tragedy struck his life 9 months ago when he lost his life long best friend. It was a careless accident, one that should never have happened. He is angry at his friend for being careless, he is angry at himself for not being there to save his friend and he is generally angry with the world. His family has taken hits from his anger. But they love him and try to protect him from himself.

The Bayou Boys all live in Autry, La. on the bayou where the business is located. There is nothing glamorous about this area of South Louisiana. It is muddy, hot, at times stinky, and surrounded by critters in the water and on the ground that make it a little cringe worthy. But, it is his home, the only home he has ever known and he loves it. He is a part of the bayou and that is a bit of his problem.

Juliet is a lawyer from Virginia. Her brother and his frat brothers stole one of the air boats one night and they wrecked it and the dock they hit. Juliet is a different heroine. She is smart, beautiful and very talented. She also suffered a stroke at the age of 10. From that point on she was treated different. She learn to compensate for her disabilities and how to deal with life. She is perfect for Sawyer. Her biggest problem is she is deathly afraid of water. However, she and her brother have signed on to rebuild the dock he so carelessly destroyed. He needs some lessons in living like regular folks and to get away from his spoiled, rich, frat brothers.

So, they set out to build the dock. No one told Sawyer they were coming. He was not happy when he discovers them living with his grandmother and fast becoming a part of his large family. This story is funny as heck, the romance is terrific and the sex is off the charts!! There are also a lot of life lessons learned. My heart stopped when they all fell into the bayou. OMG my worst nightmare! I had to walk away from my book for a few minutes. This story is by far my favorite in this Louisiana series. I loved it and I most highly recommend it. Great read.

I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 8/15/2019

This story is about Sawyer and a city girl (Juliet ); it is a contemporary romance with a massive dose of humor. I love that both Sawyer and Juliet complement each other and balance each together even though they worry a lot. Their forced proximity brings on a hard and fast romance and chemistry you can't miss. Of course, the rest of the family is in it, making this book a fabulous read. I have loved the lighthearted comedy and sweet romance in this book and can't wait to read more in this series.

This is Sawyer's book; we know him as the angsty growly owner of the Boys of the Bayou. Parts of his story have come out in other books, and this book begins where the last book left off. This book does seem short compared to the others, but we shall see.

I can already see the attraction between Sawyer and Juliette. Sawyer hears conversations, and where and why are his only questions. He saves the lady from distress and, of course, admires her assets. I love Juliet's sass and well-thought-out answers. I so love the Landry family with the brash speech and jokes. This story is full of naughty, misconstrued words and innuendos, making it enjoyable to read.

This book gets an adrenaline rush as they go out on the bayou. I'm surprised she doesn't run away after that. I like the changes in Sawyer, and this book does get steamy. The epilogue of this book is fantastic, and I can't wait to read more in this series.

For the past day and a half I’ve been stalking my Kindle and synching it every five minutes to see if this book had downloaded, and when it finally did, the rest of my world ground to a halt so I could dig into this one. I’ve been dying to read Sawyer's story and knew it would be epic!

Since the beginning of this series, the Landry clan has owned my heart. But viewing them from Juliet and Chase Dawson's point of view, I fell in love with them all over again. Juliet and her brother Chase are about as southern as snowshoeing, but when Chase and his buddies “borrow" an airboat from the Boys of the Bayou Swamp Boat and Fishing Tours one night and end up crashing it into the dock, Juliet is determined that they spend a couple of weeks in Autre, Louisiana, so her brother can rebuild the dock, learn some responsibility, and hopefully be around guys who will be a good influence.

Juliet is a planner, and quirky enough that her quirks have quirks. She has an accordion file for everything and, no matter the situation, Juliet runs through all of the “what ifs" so she can anticipate the unexpected and be fully prepared. But with all of her painstaking advance planning, nothing could have prepared her for Sawyer Landry.

Sawyer, bless his heart, is a heartbreak and a half. He lost his best friend to the bayou he loves so much, and now he's obsessed with keeping everyone safe, preferably tucked away in bubble wrap. He’s lived the days since Tommy's death being uptight and worried, and hasn’t seen a glimmer of the old, laid back Mr. Nice Guy in all that time. But Juliet has him feeling things he hasn’t felt in a long time and wanting to do things he hasn’t done in the last nine months. Like smile. And laugh.

Juliet and Sawyer both have traits that might be off putting to the average person. To those who love and understand them those traits are patiently accepted, and it isn’t long before the reader understands and loves these characters, as well. Regardless of their flaws, Juliet and Sawyer are both strong, compassionate characters, and it quickly becomes apparent how their strengths benefit each other.

This series just keeps getting better and better. With plenty of laughs and more Landry craziness, this one goes even deeper. Juliet and Sawyer both have a lot from their past that they're dealing with, but there's something especially endearing when a character accepts their flaws and works to be their best version of self, and it’s especially beautiful when Sawyer and Juliet's broken pieces fit the other so perfectly. Their challenges are authentic, their struggles believable, and their growth is inspiring.

Not only do we get these two amazing characters and the rest of the Landrys, but we get to reunite with a few characters from The Boys of the Big Easy Series, including nine-year-old Stella who asked Sawyer to marry her and her scary-smart, serious stepbrother Cooper, who is nine going on forty. And it's little Cooper who offers the words of wisdom that are so helpful to Juliet. Well, that, as well as the whole Landry clan. Because to Juliet, people who will support her and have her back, no questions asked, is more than she can resist.

Clever, witty and sarcastic, this one has undeniable chemistry and plenty of steam, but also more than its share of tugs at the heartstrings, making this a hilarious, poignant, delightful read that you won’t want to miss!

*I read an early edition of this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide feedback and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source.

This is the one book I’ve been waiting for and Erin did not disappoint.

We’ve all been waiting for Sawyer to find someone who would understand his need to make sure everyone is safe. But he ends up finding someone who also makes him want to be the old Sawyer too - funny, relaxed, joking and also domineering (in bed of course).

Juliet Dawson has her own issues and she’s never found anyone who can understand her need to be safe until she meets Sawyer. Not only does he understand but he also makes her feel safe.

I loved this book from beginning to end and can’t wait for the next one!

Sawyer hasn't been the same since his best friend was killed in the bayou, he needs people to follow his instructions and stay safe and his grumpiness means his family try and give him other jobs to do, they dont want him frightening off the tourist. When Juliet's brother causes damage she insists that they will both fix it and Sawyer cant help but be drawn by the safety obsessed woman. He understands her and she calms him down.
