Claire Contreras is many things — a New York Times Bestselling author, breast cancer survivor, mother, and wife.

Thanks to her boredom and rebellious nature, she has an affinity to genre-jump, so in her backlist, you can find anything from contemporary romance, to sports romance, to romantic suspense, to books she can only describe as, “Weird, but romantic?”

Despite the genre-jumping, all of her stories are multicultural and feature strong heroines (Claire has never met a weak woman --- they just don’t exist), found families (because she doesn’t know where she’d be without hers), and heroes who fall first, harder, are kind of obsessed with the heroine and always trying to impress her (because that’s the hero she married 17 years ago).

Claire was born in the Dominican Republic, raised in Miami, and lives in North Carolina, where she spends her days marveling at the beautiful sky and forcing her family to marvel along with her.

Since starting her publishing journey in 2013, she has written over 25 romance novels, which have been translated into over 20 languages.

Claire gave up social media a couple of years ago, but according to her horoscope, she can’t reach her full potential if she’s always hiding, so she’s trying to get back out there this year. Maybe.

    If you like jealous, and possessive male characters and I fierce female character than this is the book for you.

    Giovanni and Isabel find out they are married when Isabel’s father passes away. A lot more secrets are revealed and relationships are broken but also formed. I love the fact that Lorenzo and Catalina make an appearance as well as Emmaline throughout the book.

    I always say that you only get one mother and that no matter what she does you’re suppose to be there for them but Giovannis mom really tasted my thinking on the said subject. I’ve never hated someone more than the mom.

    This series is by far so good. Can’t wait for the next one. It looks like it only gets better from here.

    Oh my goodness! Claire returns to her mafia world with a bang! Don't worry, you can jump right into this story and be fine, but reading Because You're Mine will definitely enhance your reading experience.

    Gio and Isabel are part of the mafia world (even if Isabel wasn't even aware of it) and when Isabel's father passes away, she soon finds out she is unknowingly married. She already has a boyfriend who happens to be in the political world and is comfortable in her life. How could her father even do this?
    Giovanni is full on mafia. He's calculating, a little cruel and doesn't have time for a woman, although he does have a soft spot for his sisters. When these two meet, there are immediate fireworks that they can't ignore. Mafia Families. Arranged Marriage. Enemies to Lovers. And sexy banter? Because I Need You is made of all the good stuff!

    Isabel and Gio were great characters on their own, but together they were fire. They were EVERYTHING. I was totally consumed by these two and the way they fought their attraction. They were ultimately enemies, but the way Ms Contreras broke down their defenses and uniting was fun to watch. I loved how the cold Gio soon became possessive and protective of his wife. I frickin loved that he enjoyed calling Isabel his wife. Something so small ended up being so alpha and hot!

    And then there's the mafia world and the things that are happening while this romance is blossoming. The action and the supporting characters made it fast-paced and exciting. Such a good balance of the dark and gritty, a tad bit of snarky humor and some romantic moments. All of this along with the diverse group of characters had me totally engrossed in this world.

    If you enjoy mafia romance that centers around family (blood and found) and character driven plots, definitely check this book out. And if you enjoy this one, I suggest you pick up Because You're Mine and check out Lorenzo and Cat's story too.

    Because I Need You was nothing like I expected it to be. When I first was a introduced to Gio in Because You're Mine, I was instantly enamored with him. I wanted more Gio. Its been a few years since that first encounter, and now getting his book has made me realize he's even better than I remembered. Waiting for his book has been worth it. Claire definitely did him justice.

    Gio and Isabel have this connection that is just simmering under the surface. Its there, they both realize it, but don't do anything about it at first. But when they let good, OMG! These two are explosive. Their chemistry is off the charts. Even though these two are from very different worlds, they fit in to each others easily.

    While you don't need to read Because you're mine, it make the experience much more enjoyable. This world Claire created is amazing and sucks me in. Its one of my favorite series from her!

On one hand, I love Claire Contreras and on the the other, this was kinda corny, not bada$$ enough to be considered true mafia and some parts didn't read as authentic. Not only did his will reveal the life he hid from her, but it also revealed that he had married her off to his mafia friend’s son Giovanni. Neither Isabel or Gio knew they were married to each other, but Gio realizes he needs to stay married to her to claim the seat her father had at the table of the five heads of The Family. When Isabel realizes someone is after her for something her father left her in his will, she has to turn to Giovanni for protection. Passion ignites between them, and soon their marriage begins to feel more real.

    Such a good mafia book! This is definitely a new take on an arranged marriage, but it fit so well for them. It was weird reading about them both being in their own relationships before they knew they were married, but it made for some really good jealousy moments from Giovanni. They are both strong characters and seeing them give in to their feelings with each other was great.

    Fun characters and story but the book is quite similer to other ones i have read, it was an easy book to read and i enjoyed it very much. The fact that they are already merried gives a different twist wich was nice! So i defenetly recommend reading this one.

    After her father dies life isnt the same again for Isabel. She finds out he is part of the mob and he has married her off to Giovanni who is also mafia. She confronts Gio who is also unhappy with what his father agreed but seeing the beautiful Isabel has him very interested. She is in danger because people want things her father had hidden and Gio protects her. She sticks up for herself and Gio doesnt understand whats happening to the feelings he is having. There are plots and sub plots but the bottom line is they are falling in love and Gio is in a tizz when she ignores him. Great characters and the story is a good length. Wish we knew what happened to the briefcase and who broke into the vault.....

The entire read was so much thrilling and it kept me over the edge all the time. I was surprised to see loving side of Gio and I can bet each and every reader would love him.
