Behind the Strings - A Forbidden Rockstar Romance (Nashville Starlet Book 1) Kindle Edition
“From the first chapter I was hooked and the ending left me ready to dive into the next book right away.”
CELIA WESTBROOKE
I don’t date rock stars.
That’s my one rule.
But when my boss assigns me to do a blog interview with Logan Kent—Nashville’s newest country music star and my childhood best friend that I haven’t spoken to in 5 years—everything changes.
Logan is ready to pick up right where we left off. And if it weren’t for one thing, maybe I would’ve let him.
Enter Jesse Rockford—a songwriter with a voice as intoxicating as whiskey and eyes that see right through me.
Our connection is instant.
Undeniable.
Forbidden.
Because Jesse is Logan’s best friend.
Two men. One secret. And a choice that could break us all.
Behind the Strings is book 1 of 2 in this slow-burn rock star romance series.

About the author

Courtney Giardina is a New York native who now resides in North Carolina. She published her first novel in 2013. Tear Stained Beaches defined the staple of what her self-publishing mantra would become, strong, independent women finding their place in the world. She delivers that message in her following novels, Holding on to Georgia and the Nashville Starlet series that includes Behind the Strings and Slow Dancing on Main Street.
If you like coffee loving girls bosses and deeply emotional love stories, follow the journey of Haylie, Rylan and Celia in one of Courtney's latest novels!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2016I have read all three of Courtney's books and I have to say that this one took the cake. She offered a chapter one sneak peak on her blog and I was eager to read the entire book after reading the first chapter. Because I've read her other novels, I knew what her writing style was like and enjoyed the story lines. But this one was different. I felt like Courtney's writing had really developed and matured since her previous books and I could tell a lot of thought and work was put into this book. She left the story of Celia on a cliffhanger and I am already anxious to see how things will work out for her. Without giving away spoilers, I am anxious to see who she chooses to have in her life- her best friend Logan or her fast paced ex-boyfriend Jesse. I will share my opinion and I hope that it's Logan. :)
- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2022Such a good read, first time reading this author! I really like her writing! This story was great, but ending in a cliffhanger!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2016Right, now I'm back here with an ambivalent review and this is because of the lack of passion in the writing. I liked this one better than "Georgia" which I just reviewed, but the ending was unexpected and not welcome for me.
I don't want to give any spoilers of course, so I won't say anymore except - neither of the two sequel books are as good as Tear Stained Beaches. The passion and agony in that book makes it the best of the lot. I do hope that the author can tap into that energy for her next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2020Wow, I loved this first book the characters are well developed and engaging and the chemistry is undeniable with plenty of twists and turns to keep me turning the pages. The flow of the storyline was great.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2020A sweet and enjoyable read. Celia gets the chance to work things out with her male best friend or starting a relationship with a country music artist. This story was engaging, the characters were likable and relatable, even though I secretly love Logan, and the storyline was compelling. I can’t wait to read the next book to see what happens next. A great read and one I recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2020My first read from this author, and I'm impressed. The characters are interesting and likable. The love triangle has Celia in the middle between Logan, her best friend/musician, and Jesse, an up-and-comer. There are enough twists and turns in the story line that I have no idea how this situation will play out, not can I even pick a favorite. I'm not generally a fan of the cliffhanger, but this was announced in advance, I knew about it before I began to read, and I'm really looking forward to the resolution in the second book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2020This is the 1st book I've read written by Courtney Giardina; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the characters.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2020I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I thought this book was sweet and a very light, easy-breezy read. It was a little predictable at times but I enjoyed it and the story it told all the same. If you’re looking for a romance novel with love triangles that is also more than just a romance novel, look no further than this one.
SPOILER-FREE SUMMARY
As one of Nashville’s hottest music bloggers, Celia Westbrooke spends her days chasing stories and her nights mingling with country music’s rising stars. Her life is a whirlwind, but it keeps her mind from remembering a past she left behind. That is, until a new assignment forces her to face the one person she thought was gone forever. Logan Kent is on the fast track to country music stardom. It was the dream he had worked his entire life for. A dream that cost him the one person he ever truly loved. The same dream, that five years later, will be the reason she returns. In the heart of Music City, Celia and Logan will be forced to relive the remnants of a relationship they thought would never be. And just when they think they have what it takes to put all the pieces back together, one night could tear it all apart. Secrets will be revealed, loyalties will be tested and both will be left to decide if what they really want, is worth what they’ll lose in the process.
While it IS a romance novel, this book also discusses other things like the topic of family dysfunction, loss, friendship, self-care, abandonment issues, music, celebrity life, and more. I enjoyed reading about Celia’s life and boy troubles. All of the characters in this novel were pretty well developed, distinct and realistic as well. There were also a lot of LOL moments! This book was very well-rounded.
If you’re a fan of romance novels, chick-lit, or fiction in general, you should definitely check this one out!
