Beneath the Ice: Crime Novel Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 6 ratings

Detective Andrea Watson and FBI Agent Fletcher Peterson watch ice blocks being cut from a local lake for the St. Paul Winter Carnival Ice Palace. When body parts are discovered in a couple of the blocks, the two form an alliance to find a serial killer.

It's not a simple case as Andrea has to deal with a misogynist team leader and a persistent reporter. Andrea and Fletcher travel south, following the killer's trail. The closer they get to the killer, the situation becomes a race against time when the dogged reporter goes missing.

The author told a story that was detailed , spellbinding, and left me wanting to know if it was a true unsolved or solved case.
Detective Andrea held herself tolerant to her work environment.
Would love to read more books from this Author , C M Weaver

An intriguing premise, a solid plotline and a well-grounded backdrop of mostly winter in Minnesota drew me into the story. A pair of likeable protagonists, one trying to reconcile her gift of honing in on the minutest details with possibly having inherited a little extra something from her father, a retired sheriff with a knack for finding those others could not. I followed Andrea and Fletcher as they bonded first as partners, then developed feelings for each other that grew into a deeper commitment. What I didn't understand was why fishing at the lake wasn't prohibited immediately, and why Andrea did what she did to justify the big denoument scenes. No spoilers, but a head-scratcher for me.

This story is intriguing and held my interest throughout. I couldn't wait to find out how the body parts got encased in blocks of ice and ended up in the lake. I looked forward to reading how Detective Watson and FBI agent Peterson worked together trying to solve the mystery. Author Weaver did a great job creating suspense in the final chapters. This story is a page turner. If you like crime novels, get a copy!
