Beneath The Morvan Moon Kindle Edition

5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars 3 ratings

A murder. A secret. A promise.

Gretchen Lauterbach's grandmother asks her to fulfill a strange request that involves her older sister Rachel, who's been exiled from the family for the past five years as well as giving her a map. In this case, instead of an X marking the spot of buried treasure, Gretchen finds buried secrets. Until now Gretchen hasn't been able to get herself emotionally ready to read her sister's letter. When she does, she gets the shock of her life.

On a path that only seems to get stranger by the minute, she finds herself reuniting with family she never realized she had. She also discovers a lover's remains have been hidden in the black hills of France's Morvan forest. In order to right an old wrong--and save her own life--Gretchen must distinguish ally from foe, truth from lie. Nothing is as it seems beneath the Morvan moon.

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, as well as obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.

Courtney lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with her husband, Wayne, and their tuxedo cat, Mr. G. When she’s not writing or creating content for her site Haunt Jaunts, it’s a safe bet you’ll find her in one of three places: on a pickleball court somewhere, watching a horror movie or true crime documentary, or at the lake.

I can't express just how highly impressed I am with Courtney's ability as a writer. Her very first page in this work resonated with me. She was able to capture that with which I'm personally familiar. And, now after being exposed to two of Courtney's novels, I'm amazed at how she keeps the reader enthralled and rewards them with amazing endings. I'm truly a fan, now. I've discovered a writer who isn't recognized nearly enough for her talent.

I enjoyed this novel immensely. I found more there than originally expected and was surprisingly rivetted by the characters and their interactions. This is truly an out of the ordinary must read.
