From the author of The Slum Angel and the Kitty McKenzie series!

Surviving a shipwreck was the least of her problems.

Louisa Reynolds loses her brother when their ship goes down in a storm off the west coast of Australia. Stranded and alone on a deserted beach she is rescued by a young aboriginal girl, who keeps her alive, and teaches her the ways of the native people.

When eventually Louisa stumbles into the nearest town of Albany, she must gather her strength to start again. Befriended by two men, old gentleman George and the dashing Connor, she finds that life is worth living. The unexpected friendship with both Connor and George gives her new joy. She’s invited to stay at George’s sheep station. However, as a single woman in the company of men, she is soon the talk of gossips.
Her feelings for Connor intensify, but when she learns more about him, she is shattered by a revelation and it is gentle George who she suddenly marries.

Only, settling into station life comes with its own problems when Louisa realises that George has money problems and is close to losing everything. Confronted by a devastating fire and a gang of bushrangers, Louisa feels as though her world is spinning out of control.

Can she save the sheep station, and how long can she deny the love she feels for Connor?

"Poignant, powerful and searingly emotional, AnneMarie Brear stands shoulder to shoulder with the finest works by some of the genre’s greatest writers such as Catherine Cookson, Audrey Howard and Rosamunde Pilcher." Amazon reviewer.

Author of over thirty-five novels, AnneMarie Brear has crafted sweeping historical fiction with atmosphere, emotion, and drama aplenty that will surely satisfy any fan of the genre. AnneMarie was born in a small town in N.S.W. Australia, to English parents from Yorkshire, and is the youngest of five children. From an early age she loved reading, working her way through the Enid Blyton stories, before moving onto Catherine Cookson’s novels as a teenager.

Living in England during the 1980s and more recently, AnneMarie developed a love of history from visiting grand old English houses and this grew into a fascination with what may have happened behind their walls over their long existence. Her enjoyment of visiting old country estates and castles when travelling and, her interest in genealogy and researching her family tree, has been put to good use, providing backgrounds and names for her historical novels which are mainly set in Yorkshire or Australia between Victorian times and WWII.

A long and winding road to publication led to her first novel being published in 2006.

She has now published over thirty-five historical family saga novels, becoming an Amazon best seller and with her novel, The Slum Angel, winning a gold medal at the USA Reader's Favourite International Awards. Two of her books have been nominated for the Romance Writer’s Australia Ruby Award and the USA In’dtale Magazine Rone award and recently she has been nominated twice as a finalist for the UK RNA RONA Awards.

I have always been a fan of this author's historical fiction novels. In Beneath a Stormy Sky she brings Australia to life, both the white man's world as well as the Aboriginals' world. The heroine, Louisa Reynolds, is an amazing woman who handles everything life throws at her. Louisa is surrounded by other admirable characters - George, an elderly sheep farmer, Connor, a close neighbor who deals with his own problems, as well as a slew of supporting characters, from loyal employees to local do-gooders. All amazingly drawn.
The ending has a special surprise in store which definitely lifted me up and getting upset about the possible outcome.
    I definitely recommend this book.

The author has done it again and produced a rich adventuresome page-turner set in the land down under. The storyline has characters that are fully-developed and is full of subplots full of twists that kept me on the edge of my seat. If you have several 'me' hours and need to immerse yourself in a good read than this is defintiely worth your time.

Just when you think that nothing more can possibly happen.... Oh boy, how quickly you can be proved wrong!
This story is like that - from beginning to end, for Louisa, who’s journey to start a new life is immediately faced with shipwreck, and the loss of her brother. The devastating blows continue almost one after another. The characters are diverse and engaging, and the backdrop of Western Australia with some of the dialog and customs of the Aboriginal people, made for an interesting picturesque reading - very enhanced whilst listening to audible. What a powerful story of strength, determination, integrity and loyalty.

It's hard to pick a favorite though since I felt that way about each one.
