I loved this story!. It was a slight departure for Ms. Moreland. She has always been great at crafting love stories but with this story we have a solid thread of suspense. I really liked this and it was woven like the thread from a warm shawl. I loved our guy and gal. The heat between this couple was off the charts. They were each given a clear purpose and the dynamic between the two was just wonderful. If I had a bit of an unclear moment it was the narrative of her being cold and having a "condition". I hope in one of the next two books this is addressed because for as obsessive as Bentley was I would assume he would want to make sure she was healthy. This was a puzzle for me throughout the book. I have always loved the secondary characters so wonderfully crafted by Ms. Moreland. I have had many notes to Ms. Moreland asking for sequels for previous work. Except one very short novella this is the first time she made the decision to offer a series. Oh. My. Goodness! What a wonderful beginning. I absolutely love that we have the main players for the next books. I really hope she moves this couple along so we can see what might happen with this couple having a child. I think Bentley would be hysterical as a father and don't even get me started on Aiden and Maddox along for that ride. I don't know if the next books will be more concurrent as opposed to slightly moved forward. I think if Ms. Moreland has committed to three books we should have movement slightly into the future so we can still have them move along each as a couple and as a group of six. I can't wait to see what will happen as each of these men have such different stories. The women they love each come with strong personalities. I also would love to see if we have an appearance of the "missing brother". This is also something that might be interesting to explore. Many layers to sift through. I just love the writing style of Melanie Moreland. She takes time to craft beautiful stories and this one is certainly a wonderful beginning. I had the best time reading this gem. This book had me hooked by Page 4 with our main characters meeting…… “Are you hurt?” “No.” “Then stop being such an ass.” “I blink at her. “You can’t call me an ass.” “I think I just did.” “You don’t even know me!” “So, once I get to know you, I can call you an ass?” And with that sweet banter I am in love with Bentley Ridge and Emmy, and Aiden and Maddox, Cami and Dee and even Andrew. Bentley is our uptight, proper 32 year old businessman. He’s had tragedy in his past, to be raised by his very rigid, stoic and proper aunt and uncle. But that upbringing has served him well. He’s successful and very wealthy at this point in his life. He’s focused and hard-driven to achieve. But at what cost now? He has two close friends who are also his partners and basically his family, but he doesn’t have a life of meaning, no one to really care about or to care about him. He’s lonely, but I’m not sure he knows that until one morning he stumbles into a rucksack on the floor and looks up into the brown eyes of Emmy, a smart, quick witted, sassy and engaging girl and our dear Bentley is a goner. He’s drawn to her teasing grin and the mischievous glint in her brown eyes. She brings sunshine and brightness to his life and a feeling of belonging to someone that he’s never felt before. And with that I’m a goner for our book, Bentley. Bentley has a mystery, a moderate amount of steaminess and tons and tons of sweet banter and love between our characters. Yes, they have their ups and downs, and neither one is perfect, but Melanie has made the characters so real, you believe in them and know they will make it through the rough times. I have been a fan of Melanie Moreland since I read The Contract, and moved on to It Started With a Kiss and My Image of You. Each spellbinding, each a story that grabs you from page one and doesn’t let you go until the last page. And Bentley is no exception. Another winner in my book by Melanie Moreland. And now I can’t wait for Aiden and the second book in the Vested Interest series.
