It takes a really special storyline to hook me in so far that I am called to order the followup to the first. This duo had me enthralled from beginning to end. Love that it is set in London. The characters so very real and flawed by their past as we all are. The reader is rooting for Lil and her super sexy love interest, Luca. It is a long twisty road but so worth traveling. I look forward to reading more from this author.

***Review copy requested and reviewed on behalf of OMGReads Blog***

Betrayal is book 2 of the Whiskey Promises Series by new up and coming author A.R. Thomas. It's a new adult, contemporary romance and is the conclusion to Jace Bennett and Lily Spencer's story. These two show us with great risk comes great reward.

Lily is independent, stubborn, and the queen of deflection. She's been keeping a lot of secrets from Jace and her past catches up to her and it all blows up in her face. She is a tough cookie though, and once you get on her bad side, good luck getting back in her good graces.

Jace is an overbearing alpha. He doesn't know how to control his feelings for Lily because the feelings themselves are so foreign to him. He has a lot of skeletons in his closet that he's scared to let out because he knows Lily is a flight risk. His love and desperation to be with her blinds him from making logical choices. But omitting the truth/lying by omission is still telling a down right lie.

Their journey has been full of chase, tension, arguments, secrets, mistrust, jealousy, more complications, and lots of sex. Sounds like a recipe for disaster, right? Well it was. It all comes to a head blowing up in their faces. But can the damage done be repaired? Truths will be revealed and vulnerabilities exposed. Their love and loyalty is tested and everything inbetween finally be laid bare.

This story was entertaining but a bit predictable. Just like book 1, it reminded me of the This Man series. We also don't get as much Cass and no Sean this time around. I'm hoping they get a book in the future, Cass is a whirlsind of entertainment and they have some serious history.

Loved the premise of this two book series. Was slightly disappointed that there was such a pervasive use of alcohol as a coping mechanism. That and the hero seemed to have a lot of the same control issues and bullying straights that the heroine was afraid of yet these were never secret when the resolution was made.

I have read the duet of Jace and Lily, loving not only the main Characters, but also the side Characters. Carl was an absolute fav, same with spunky Cass. This was an emotional rollercoaster and then some. Emotions were real, and tough, really tough, but so worth it. Thank you AR Thomas for a beautiful and well written story. I loved Lils profession and passion.. she is an amazing character that wasnt a doormat, who stood up for herself when it was needed. Woot woot! Thats what we need in female leads.. thats what i l9ved about her. Amazing read!!

    Well done A.R. Thomas.

Betrayal, is book 2 in the Whiskey Promises duet. I loved it. It was a roller coaster of emotions, with ups and downs, and with sweet and sour moments.
I felt like the author was much more confident then she was with the first book. And while I didn't care much for Lily in Portrayal, for several reasons, I loved her in Betrayal. It's like she found herself, like she grew form one book to the other, and gave the relationship, gave Jace a shot. She opened up her heart, let herself go, and let herself enjoy the beautiful sweet moment with her man, and when things crumbled she acted like a confident mature woman. After Learning about Jace's past, I felt for him. He seemed so arrogant and on top of things, yet he was just as lost as Lils. I loved how in the end they took things slower, how they started anew with getting to know one another.
    The Epilogue was everything.
I really hope to see more A.R Thomas books. I love her way with the words.

Betrayal by A.R. Thomas is book 2 of the Whiskey Promises series and the conclusion of Jace and Lily’s story. This picks up right where we left off, Jace and Lily have broken up after a night out gone wrong. Right from the beginning the reader experiences Lily’s pain and despair at the demise of her relationship with Jace. They rekindle their relationship and this time take it slower by going out on dates and spending time with each other while not being physical. They reconcile their relationship, but as fate would have it Lily’s past interferes, and her life is put at risk. Lily and Jace weather the storm together and Lily moves in with Jace, but it seems like a happy ending might not be in the cards for them. A misunderstanding causes them to break-up, and it’s an uphill battle for the both of them to fix their relationship, trust, and hearts.

I loved Betrayal more than I loved Portrayal. While Portrayal was a slower book, Betrayal starts off with drama and it continues throughout. Secrets are revealed and the mystery surrounding both Jace and Lily’s past is uncovered. Jace and Lily go through so much and I felt Lily’s emotions so deeply. Betrayal is also written in the first person, but the narrative is excellent and I didn’t feel the book was lacking in any way. I’m glad the author showed us the different sides of these characters and the way they matured in this book. I definitely liked Lily’s character more, and I absolutely fell in love with Jace as well, despite his flaws. Gah, these two were perfect for each other and their happy ending made me tear up and oh so happy.

Betrayal is a well-written book, with lovably flawed characters and intense chemistry between Jace and Lily. These two are soulmates and they’re meant to be together. I really enjoyed the Whiskey Promises series and I look forward to more by A.R. Thomas.

I Feel I am finally ready to leave a review after being taken on what can only be described as an Emotional, rollercoaster causing spontaneous outbreaks of sheer hatred, love and frustration after reading the second Book of the Whiskey Promises Selection....

Betrayal written by the incredible A R Thomas

You will be reunited with Lily - An independent, stubborn, strong, determined woman. Keeping the secrets of her past from Jace finding every possible opportunity to avoid them from coming out.

Jace - Pure Alpha... struggles to control his feelings and can be somewhat overbearing with jealousy. Jace himself struggles with the emotions he feels due to the skeletons of his past.

Oh! But do their secrets stay hidden or is both are their pasts actually going to catch up with them??? Are those surrounding them going to influence them to take other paths to happiness?
Can the damage of the past be repaired or is this all going to blow up in their own faces?

There is a quote “Love doesn’t always run smooth!”
Be prepared! Grab yourself a strong drink as you will find this book may get under your skin!

5.0 out of 5 stars Emotional story!

What can I say about this book?
Betrayal is the second book in the Whiskey Promises series and it finishes where the first one left off.
The main two characters have so much baggage that in the first book it impacted on their relationship, but that is nothing compared to the effects that it has in this book. Their pasts are still very present and the book is a journey of them both coming to terms with things so they can eventually move forward but not before an awful lot of emotional story has happened. Keep the tissues handy!
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this author’s books and highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys a good romance with a bit of grit!
